Our reality has changed, people.. The Statue of Liberty was always on Ellis Island in NY harbour. It is now oddly on Liberty Island (which never existed) and is very close to NJ instead.
      The Mandela Effect strikes again..

Great video Sarah Funk (e)... We were very lucky to have gotten tickets up to the crown viewing area when we went to NYC. Amazing!!!
Word of advice - if it is a warm day bring plenty of water as it gets very hot inside and there are a lot of steps to climb up and down. Also the area in the actual crown is tiny (only the space for about 3-4 people) so realise it may take a while to do it especially at busy times.

I had no idea that the Statue of Liberty is technically in New Jersey despite the fact I've looked at on a map for years! It is really cool to see Nicola featured in this video. He ran the food tour of yours I went on back in September, and he did an amazing job running that! He has a lot of great information in this video too!

This video was interesting, especially the Statue's location -- both in NY / NJ. Not surprised our family names, can't be found on there either since they probably could barely afford to pay for placement of their name on the wall, as well. Thank you for the video and nice collab!

In 2015, I visited The Statue if Liberty Island and Ellis Island and found them to be amazing, I wish the Museum on Liberty Island was opened as it was not until May 16, 2019. When I came to Canada we arrived at Pier 21 in to Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia which is now the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21. I was a little disappointed that we could not go visit the Ellis Island Hospital and the other buildings. Thank you for this amazing tour, it was fun! Next time I visit, I will need to go again!👍👍

It's a shame how often things change for the worse. Friends and I used to play hooky once in a blue moon from elementary school on Staten Island, and one of the places we would go was the Statue of Liberty. I forgot the cost to go to it, but even as young teenagers we could afford it. The big difference is, that back then, around 1979, you would buy one ticket that included everything relating to the statue (except for Ellis Island, never been there), and we never needed a reservation. You could go where ever you wanted, including the crown. Makes me wish I was an adult back in those days. NYC was something totally different back then. A bit wild and dangerous, but with so much more freedom and liberty.

Yehudah Tzvi Windweher arrived at Ellis Island and asked his friend "What would be a good American name for me? I want it to be Jewish, but more American."
His friend replied, "Sam Cohen, that's a good American Jewish name."
Yehudah Tzvi began his long walk up a massive flight of steps leading to the immigration office. With each step he said, "Sam Cohen, Sam Cohen," in an earnest effort to learn his new name. When he finished carrying his luggage to the top of the flight, he was winded and tired.
A large immigration officer caught Yehuda Tzvi off guard when he said, "NAME?" in a booming voice. A flustered Yehudah Tzvi replied, "Shoyn fargesin" ("I already forgot" in Yiddish).
The immigration officer replied, "Sean Ferguson, welcome the United States of America!"

I believe it was 1977, The New York "Blackout". The entire city lost power, but The Statue of Liberty remained lit at night. Long Standing debate to the NY/NJ ownership argument.

I live closer to the statue of liberty than literally any NYC resident does and I will just say that it's just fine. The color and history are neat but the actual sight is not that impressive and certainly not worth going to visit multiple times.
It's just a nice thing to look out your NJ window at.

That's one of the things that irritates me the most is when people talk to a different race and say go back where you came from. Most people in the US are from somewhere else remember most likely your ancestors were from somewhere else.

She not in New York City or New Jersey. She’s legally in the jurisdiction of nyc apart of the Manhattan borough. Nj have no rights to her but you can take a ferry to her from nj too as well as battery park from nyc. She’s close to Jersey than nyc, but legally own by nyc, so if you go to Liberty island you’re in nyc

    1) ...please take-off those ridiculous face masks; ...very interesting information and video; ...both my grandparents came through Ellis Island;
    2) ...I've got some concerns about the info presented here, for example, how many traveling 3rd class going through Ellis Island would be carrying $4,500USD to get US citizenship on the spot?? Especially when they could apply for citizenship later at a much reduced cost?? Additionally, the name changing did take place, Adolph Coors had his German name changed from Khors to Coors by a Dutch magistrate...
    3) ...my second to the last comment is simply to remember, the Statue of Liberty is NOT about immigration, it has NOTHING to do with immigration, it's about the freedom and liberty for US citizens found within the Constitution of the USA.
    4) ...nevertheless, thanks for making / posting! EDITED TO ADD NUMBERS INSTEAD OF LINE SPACING THAT YT WAS TRIPLE SPACING.

Isnt anyone going to address the elephant in the room? At the beginning of this vid, the Statue of Liberty is mentioned to be on Ellis Island, then once we are at the statue, our hosts says u can see Ellis Island in the distance. She even shows shock at the statue's new location being so close to NJ. It looks totally bizarre because it is. The Statue of Liberty was always on Ellis Island. Matter of fact, personally i dont recall a Liberty Island even existing prior to this change. This is the biggest example of a Mandela Effect changing reality right before our eyes and is the one that freaks me out to no end.
