Contractors and Pavlov are both great games, but after contractors latest enhancement update, is Pavlov still the king of VR multiplayer first person shooters? I don't think Pavlov is going anywhere but I think we can all make room for contractors.

Its worth owning all 3 imo, contractors, pavlov and onward. Its the reason why i own multiple FPS games because they have different gameplay
Yea. I actually did end up getting Onward the other day. I haven’t had a chance to play it yet though.
I did the same. Even got pop 1 just to have a battle royale game. Theyre all great for different reasons.

I love Pavlov. Every match is so different lol sometimes it’s goofy and chaotic, sometimes it’s intense af, other times its super chill. I’m by no means saying it’s the best game, it’s just super fun and will have a special place in my heart. I see it as the VRChat of of VR FPS games.
VR Chat of VR FPS games is a PERFECT explaination of Pavlov. I still play Pavlov all the time and I think it's a great game, I just thing Contractors is a little better if you are looking for a "Call of Duty in VR" experience.
Pavlov is a sandbox game with guns so its pretty much gmod in vr lol

Just popped into contractors for the first time in most of a year and it's like night and day from what it was before. I had a blast and found a ton of chatty, funny people in game, far unlike what I usually get in Pav. While pavlov and its VRML circuit are still my baby, Contractors is certainly going to keep its spot on my computer if it keeps up this quality.

The controls in Contractors just feel so right to me. It's how I want all shooters to be, the trigger finger for mags and stuff is genius, so hard to pick up the wrong things by accident. I also got that nostalgic feeling from this even having never played it. It just feels so much like CS to me.. Can't wait for the Quest mod support so I can play some of the old classic maps :) cs_office and Italy forever!
Yea. It’s a really great game but If You love CS, Pavlov emulates it even better. If you are on a Quest, you can download a stripped down version of Pavlov for free, just search for “Pavlov Shack” and look under the AppLab section. Thanks for watching!

if you're looking for a cs type game, play pavlov dude. Same thing with mags, you use trigger. Already has mod support, with tons of cs maps and original designs for competitive focused maps

Pavlov is a good game but Contractors just better and feels nostalgic. I also like the fact that most of the players are adults and many times we can actually use strategies during gameplay (not on rust 😅 )
Contractors needs better modding support. Its feels more fleshed out, but I play Pavlov more because of its game modes. Also I find it more nostalgic when I'm playing zombies on the Kino Der Toten map, with the same mechanics and everything.
Contractors when it comes to actual gunplay is one of the most unrealistic games I have ever seen in this game a 762 mm round does less damage than a 556 mm if you know anything about guns you will not like this game because of how unbelievably off it is on any fucking gun in the game every bullet is off by so much when it comes to bullet diameter

I haven't played onward yet, but i absolutely prefer contractors over pavlov anyday. The guns on pavlov just feel sorta clunky/sluggish to me at times. While contractors is always crispy clean
Yea. How the guns feel in contractors is hard to explain. You just need to try them to understand how different they feel.
This game is a blast. just instant fun.
Pavlov just has a really nice feeling that other VR shooters don't have
I've always preferred Contractors over Pavlov. The TTK to me is better and enemies are less spongy, movement is much more fluid, weapons handling and reloading are less confusing, performance is better, having your different loadout presets set up, there's just so much that Contractors does better than Pavlov imo. The only thing that I think saves Pavlov is the amount of weapons and modding.
Completely agree about the TTK, that’s one of the first things I noticed. I think that it’s mainly due to how In most Pavlov matches, people are starting with unlimited funds and they immediately buy body armor. I still love Pavlov for all of the unique mods and game types, but if I just want to play a straight up shooter (which is most of the time), Contractors is my go to now.

Nice comparison video. I subbed. I've been playing Pavlov basically since it first launched back in Early Access, so 5-6 years now. I still play it, every day. It's my favorite VR game. I do own Contractor$, but it's slower-paced and more tactical. That's what I love about Pavlov: It's very fast-paced. I grew up playing Doom, Quake, Unreal Tournament and it's hard to break out of that mould and slow down haha. I might have to try Contractor$ again since it's been updated though. Keep up the great vids!

Main reason I haven't thought of getting new VR games is because Pavlov came out with Push.
Push is so fun.

just saying while contractors has a better "equipment" system and the guns and mechanics feel good, pavlov beats it immensely with the insane mod support, you can literally play full cod zombies within pavlov, gmod darkrp, ttt, ww2 AND modern, halo itself etc. the mod support that pavlov has greatly outweighs the simple custom maps support contractors has and pavlov allows for a better experience.
Doesn't Contractors have a better Halo mod than pavlov?
I haven't played Onward yet, not sure if it is WMR compatible. I do however have Contractors and Pavlov. I like Pavlov a lot more. How you handle your equipment is more intuitive like using the grip button to grab things. Everytime I go back into Contractors, I have to readjust to the controls. Pavlov for me is just a much smoother experience. Now I'd love to see a Pavlov 2 or successor.
Yea. I think a lot comes down to personal preference. You can change contractors so that you grab things with the grip buttons though.

Does this game have a campaign mode like Zero Caliber?
It does not. I think that Zero Caliber is still one of the only modern VRFPS games with a campaign.
I’ve had my Rift S for a while now, since last year and I’ve had Onward and Pavlov, Yesterday I got myself the Quest 2 256GB And bought Contractors for it, its amazing.
Not sure if you know but Contractors is Crossbuy so if you bought the Quest version you now own the (Rift) PCVR version too
Well my Quest 2 will arrive on wednesday and since it's Steam winter-sale i will get Pavlov and Contracrors
Great!! You may want to consider getting contractors on oculus instead of steam though because if you buy the Quest version, you get the PC version for free (and vice versa). That way you can play with just the quest if you are ever away from your PC.
Y when I get on contractors for the first time and even after I re-installed it, does it make my whole body like 6 inches out infront of me. I can look down and almost see inside my own body. Plzz help me out, I’ve changed my height and looked threw all settings, dont know what to do
Yup. I play contractors way, way more than I do Pavlov now. Over 100 hours on Pavlov and just get so much more enjoyment out of contractors. Not to mention the fact Pavlov's optimization is laughable, and sights are harder to use.

Quality audio you should add bigger note on contractors having quest 2 to PC VR cross compatibility there isnt really that good of a shooter on quest 2 standalone

Tactical assault VR crushes these games in terms of overall mechanics. It's got ROBLOCKS like graphics so the game runs extremely well and the guns function far better than anything I have seen.

This video was almost 1 year ago. I get contractors and I played Pavlov to compare. I have to say that is some points Pavlov has more variety but the most of the servers was empty and the few players you find is just annoying kids screaming doing team kill and spoiling the experience completely. Contractor was more satisfying from far and the servers and modes are not the most original but still more fun and has more sense than Pavlov which just stay as a demostration of how a shooter can be on VR. Pavlov was probably a good game in past but now feels old and Contractors grows so much better by the time.
Can you adjust where stuff has their slots on your vest? Like I have to play left handed, due to my left eye being SEVERELY dominant for me, so I't want to have it laid out in a left hand oriented way, but with the pistol on the right still, cause those I can still play right handed (which I am irl) while still being able to aim comfortably. Plus, I generally like to have a very specific placement for things in Pavlov, left to right, smoke granade, frag granate, pills and then bandages, as many as I can hold while having one of each at least. By now I can grab the exact thing I want while under heavy supressive fire and shooting a pistol aswell. I'd really like to be able to "import" that muscle memory into this game ideally.
You can adjust the position of some things on your vest but not all. You can swap the order of your grenades and swap between pistol on the left or on the right, but that's about it. Hope that helps!

Bro missed the jumping and sliding in Contractor$, I've been playing Pavlov Shack for a year with almost no updates. Contractor$ was just waiting for me and I haven't gone back to Pavlov Shack once since like I thought I would have for the TTT lobbies, but with the standalone getting mods on Contractor$ Pavlov devs need to do something quick.
You are absolutely right!! I completely forgot to mention the sliding! Yea the Quest 2 mod support for contractors is amazing! Pavlov on PC still has much more robust mods but on Quest, Pavlov shack doesn't compete at all.
@@SpookyPirateVR I just got off playing for 5 hours, headset started frameskipping before I realized my cord wasn't charging and I was on 0%, I love running lobbies in this game now with all the mod maps available. Always great making somebody's night showing them a childhood map.
what about zero caliber?
I know I’m quite late to the party with a comment, but I’d like to ask something. In Pavlov, my hands are quite shaky which means I find it difficult to have long-range encounters or use iron sights (I can’t manage to hit anything with a bolt action in WWII mode). I’ve also noticed that you have shaky hands in some parts of this video, so I wanted to ask; how do you combat that? Is it just practice? Or do you just stay away from long-distance encounters?
Hi Skelter! Thanks for watching! Yea, my hands are definitely not the most steady. It really is just a matter of practice for the most part but one thing that MAY help would be to lower the refresh rate of your headset down to 72. If your refresh rate is a little slower, it can kind of help to smooth things out. Another important thing is to enable virtual stock if you haven't done so already, this can also help to smooth out your movement a little bit. I hope this helps!

you might want to try out the "Virtual Gunstock" option, which both contractors and pavlov have. I think it simulates a gunstock so when you grab a weapon with two hands, it makes it more steady. Or something like that idk, i dont use it.
You should try out VAIL VR, It’s a new Early Access VR Shooter, and i think it has major potential! I really like the gameplay. Please check it out! They are gonna be having a major playtest at then of January.

I just bought a quest 2. I was hyped to buy these games but on steam forums they say contractors playerbase is absolutely dead... Is that true? Are there any games i should avoid due to having no playerbase?

Contractors player base is far from dead and seems to be growing daily. I think a lot of those steam reviews are talking about how the game used to be. Ever since they became cross play with the Quest, I don’t think the player base has ever dipped too far down. Give it a shot. I’m sure you’ll have fun.

Well if I had to choose what to get first, I would probably just choose Pavlov because there is a better variety of gameplay.
I consider Pavlov to give a better experience on PC. I consider Contractors to give a better experience for players on Quest 2. As for Onward, Onward is good on both platforms but is very different in its gameplay compared to Contractors and Pavlov. But if I were to compare all the games on their best platforms, then Pavlov would be my personal favorite due to the HUGE modding scene and overall better gameplay elements. However all these games are a must have in my opinion.

Thanks for watching! I don't really think Pavlov really has a slam dunk on Contractors when it comes to graphics but I do think there are a few maps and gun models in Pavlov that go above and beyond. In contractors, the graphics feel a lot brighter and things like the trees in the jungle level look very simplistic and have some aliasing problems if everything is not set to the highest possible setting. But that's just my opinion. Contractors doesn't look bad by any means though.
Contractors has a more mature community, more realistic guns, and bigger, better maps. Pavlov, uh... I've had this game since its early days, when I was still on the HTC Vive. It's now full of annoying, Squeaking kids that have more than the "one hour" a couple times a week that I can play something before work, so they're usually WAY better than adult players, WHEN they're actually cooperating that is.. But they also do stupid sh$#, like you'll join a lobby expecting the rules to be played, and I hear some kid saying "Okay, don't shoot, I'm coming out!" I'm like "Goddamn kids, time to join ANOTHER lobby to play THE GAME we're in properly... How the hell are these kids BORED in a VR game, and just wanting to role play? Get off the game, get out your wrestling action figures or something until you hit 12 years old, and THEN come back when your poor eyes have developed, good grief! Another gripe of mine, is Pavlov feels like everyone is a bullet sponge. If you get the drop on somebody in Contractors, you get the kill. If you get dropped on, you see the bullet trail of your killer. Pavlov? Oh, there's a bullet trail, but you'll know FOR A LONG ASS TIME where the bullets were flying from. You're frantically spinning around trying to find what direction someone's shooting you in, and it's just... It's frustrating. I once hid in a corner waiting for someone's LOUD footsteps to approach me, and the SECOND I saw him, he fired ONE BULLET, and landed a PERFECT headshot, like AIMBOT level nonsense. That kid has been playing too long. He knew the exact height of the average player, and fired ONE SHOT sprinting around the corner... This just doesn't happen in Contractors. I feel like the mechanics are better balanced, everyone stands a chance, and losing feels okay, I don't feel CHEATED like I always do in Pavlov, and am always having a good time. (Isn't that what playing games is all about?) I mean, how can you not, hopping aboard a giant Choo Choo train on a Hot Wheels track, firing arrows at each other as tiny ninjas on a crazy Christmas map? 🎄 It's just a freaking good time all around for me. I nearly gave up on the PvP shooter genre all together because of Pavlov, but Contractors (And Zero Calibur in places) have pulled through for me. Contractors. Winner, hands-down.
Preach brotha! Yea. Definitely valid points. I still enjoy Pavlov but I definitely spend more time in contractors now. Like you said, it’s just easier to be competitive in contractors.
Right now for me I own pavlov and onward, I think I'm going to get contractors soon though. The only reason pavlov is good is because of it's modding. mainly the custom guns and vehichles on some maps. Onwards just good because my friends own it and the slow gameplay feels cool. Then I also own population one, which to me after the recent update, it has the best feeling guns.

how much people have play zero caliber? for me i prefer it to pavlov because people ar not bullet sponge like onward sure they just recently release a multiplayer pvp. never play contractor ( just buy it it is installing right now so )
Cross play definitely needs to be mentioned, really good video. Contractors for $10 sounds more worth the more i research.

Pavlov is for me the guns just feel way better then contractors
Thanks for watching. Yea I guess it really just comes down to personal preference. I love Pavlov, but the guns in Contractors feel a lot better to me.
@@SpookyPirateVR I prefer the realism ig I've played both and contractors guns feel great to but it's missing a few things like actually pulling out your mag and pulling out other people's mags or the way you reload the Russian rullet kinda guns the reloading just feels so much better because the mag is on your side and not in the way on your front side guns in contractors remind me of fan made modded guns in Pavlov that's how good there are in my opinion and I think you can hear the bullets rattle when put in the mag in Pavlov as well there's these little details that you just don't get in contractors

contractors is very run and gun as you can either hold the gun both hands toward your chest and aim straite and pretty much shoot in front of you and kill. or one handed with pretty much no recoil. half the time i find myself not even aiming and killing most. it feels weird. maps are nice on both pavlov and contractors.. veryy conflicted with these two games lol
I owned those 3 games and I played each of them depends on what I want at that time. If I want to go milsim hard-core, I go with Onward. If I want to do Epic push, or just practicing shooting I'm general, I go with Pavlov. If I want some fast pace shooting (COD style), I go with Contractors.
One thing for sure is that Pavlov is more balanced between realism and arcade. The movement and overall sense of speed is more natural in Pavlov while Onward is more realistic and Contractors is too fast. In Contractors you can still run and moves normally while being shot at, so it's just too damn fast for my taste. It contradicts my sense of movement because I played Airsoft in real life. While Pavlov is just right.
And another thing is the visual clarity. Contractors looks beautiful but the clarity is not as sharp as Pavlov, while Onwars looks plain and uninteresting. So I feel more natural playing Pavlov although the bullet sponge is something problematic for my taste.
Something is off about contractors... It's like for little kids or something and I somehow i get killed after initiating fire straight into their chest first with very fast shooting guns. It makes no sense. In Pavlov, if i die it almost always feels fair like ya ok, he got me... With Contractors, I have no idea what is wrong with that game. It constantly feels like I'm getting headshot by a kid who's jumping while doing a full 180 shot with instant kill, even when I see them first, get the first shots off and see the blood splatter coming off their chest before they even start aiming at me...
Imo Contractors is way more fun, just Pavlov has so many bugs and empty lobbies
The answer is yes. Update 29 absolutely massacred Pavlov VR.
Pavlov is more finished, plus mods for pretty much anything you can think of
I stil prefer Pavlov for the controls of the guns. Once you get used to it and the better reloading action, other shooters comes off as clunky

i played upcoming competitive shooter Vail VR because i got early access, i can tell you one thing, i played contractors after and imo i found it a bit less fun, give vail a try!
Two dif games..Pavlov is run an gun..contractors an onward more like call of duty..Pavlov has to work on their servers the accuracy of shots are not well
My dude have you seen the top guys play contractors? 360 no scopes, bunnyhop around the map like it's nobody's business popping heads in 1 shot in the process... I'll argue Contractors is more like CoD than Pavlov does. Not to shit on any game, but I think Pavlov is the more grounded title

Currently it's only male avatars as far as I know.
Sadly as the game has gotten more popular the game has gotten more and more toxic players and a lot more squeakers.
I personally prefer pavlov cause the sound system is very crystal clear compare to contractor's enemy footsteps.
