Just got my hands (late, I know) on a Bello Pre-con. This is a great and fun strategy, very well built around perfect synergy and just plain crazy when it pops off. I had no idea what to include for a decent pseudo-budget upgrade on it so this is a great guide. Love the storm-ish dynamic. Good job, man and thank you!
I just got mine recently as well, played my first and only game so far a few days ago. It was very fun out of the box and I had a great beginning with ramp and pulling out the damage doubler that just instantly put me ahead and got the W. Youll notice a good hanful of these cards come in the precon already. Ill play my first game Tuesday night with the minor upgrades I made. Enjoy!
Leyline of Abundance is insane here. You can drop it onto the field from your opener, and it makes all the 4 CMC rocks you play additionally tap for green. It also serves as a payoff for all that extra mana you make, putting the counters on the Elementals made by Bello so that next turn cycle they're even bigger.
dual nature is a good one cause it sees itself enters as a creature. thats because bello's ability is a replacement effect and not a trigger so they enter as creatures :) also, Coat of Arms & molten echoes are crazy, because they're all elementals. Mirror March is amazing in the deck for the same reason as dual nature :D
Wild pair could also be cool as it will enter as a 4/4, getting its own trigger and then you can put Raggadragga onto the battlefield or Klauth if you put that in
Interesting list. I see what you are going with this. Every since i got this precon, I have a different goal where i focus on artifacts rather than enhancement or mana rocks. Maybe i'll print some cards from your list and see how it goes from there.
I feel that all the Red green Leyline of* cards should be auto included. Come out free at the start of the game and immediately attack when commander drops
Gotta have Fiery Emancipation and City on Fire. I upgraded a precon and have consistently been able to beat Edgar Markov, Kaalia, and Krenko decks. I was honestly a little surprised with the power of this commander.
I think another funny spell to put in this deck is possibility storm. Yes it will affect your spells but it will basically make it so much harder for your opponent to counter your spells or get rid of them plus it will also be a 4/4
Mycosynth Lattice would be a cool include making your creatures with 4 CMC or greater artifacts, and then 4/4 Elementals w/ Indestructible and Haste with Bello's card draw benefit also. Seedborn Muse and Wildsear in particular benefit from this in my deck. The Mycosynth Gardens is another cool tech making itself into another elemental.
So, depending on the build, Mirrorworks and Minion Reflector are kinda cool in this deck too. The last one is like Molten Echoes, but you have to pay 2. Mirrorworks copies non-token artifacts for the same amount and that can get kinda crazy. I haven't tried my build out yet, though...
So I'm not gonna do the extra combat thing as of now. I played the deck at my lgs and it was strong! I'm not gonna over power the deck for my play group. With that being said I'm grabbing all of the mentioned cards in case our power level starts to creep up.
oh hey there's a fun interaction with 2 token doublers, molten echoes and the racoon. On the field have racoon and a token doubler, cast molten echoes naming elementals. because its as it enters the battlefield it will trigger itself creating 2 token copies of the molten echoes. now cast another token doubler. 3 instances of tokens will happen, 2x2= 4 so 4 will be created in the first instance, 2x2x2x2x2= 64 will be created in the second instance, 2^70 is a ridiculously enormous number of 4/4 haste and indestructible's to have on the third instance :] hope nobody has teferi's protection like effects as they don't have may abilities on the combat damage trigger
Why wouldn't you add Anzrag? He's another perfect combo engine That fits right into the deck's gameplan. Not to mention hes a 1 card wincon just by himself
What a great Deck! :O I was wondering if I could include "Bramble Sorvereign" to have more good stuff. Since it would make me an indestructable blocker no? It would copy the creature not the "lifeless" enchantment/artifact right?
Yeah bramble sovereign would make a token copy of the enchantment/artifact and Bello would still be animating it on your turn but I don’t think they stay animated after your turn ends, resorting back to being a normal enchantment/artifact, you also don’t copy the haste/indestructible
Really enjoy this series of videos! Does it mean on your turn if you play an 4cmc artifact/enchantment it comes on the battlefield immediately as a 4/4 creature?
I'm not doing ti mana rocks, but i'm gonna abuse all the artifacts with static effects or static pump abilties on bad artifacts. Then throw in a agatha to reduce cost and bamn lots of free
Forgive me as I'm new to magic But are you able to cast spells during your combat phase to untap your artifacts and enchantments when they're considered creatures and then tap them for mana to play something like the great hinge or you just untapping them and then ending combat to then play it, losing out on the cost x less for creatures?
The decks pretty cool, I was bummed out though cuz I was hoping I could make trash and do smash by throwing him into a roxxane deck to make the meteorite’s do more smashing before it was revealed
Deck seems awesome. The one problem I have with this commander is his defense. Unless you’re able to kill all your opponents in one turn, how can you prevent a clap back since your rocks are only creatures on your turn?
We lean on our board wipes, spot removal (war storm surge) and straight up lethal damage to deal with crack backs. We also have some indestructible tech in the deck and that makes our commander an amazing blocker.
@@Moosetapheles Non-Aura, Non-Equipment Artifacts or Enchantments with CMC>=4 enter as creatures, okay. Does that mean they are treated as creatures on the stack already? Or when exactly do they "become" creatures?
@@nbb3924 They are not considered creature spells on the stack. Eligible enchantment and artifact permanents are simply also considered creatures during your turn. The only time they’re not creatures is on the stack as spells, and outside your turn. If for some reason you cast the enchantment/artifact spell outside of your turn, it will not enter as a creature, but once your turn begins, it becomes a creature.
@@nbb3924I believe at the same time they ETB. Not on cast but they still trigger ETB effects from enchantments and can sometimes trigger themselves depending on the card.
Does Dual Nature actually work, since the the animated artifacts/enchantments aren't actual creature cards, despite being creatures? Hope I'm wrong though
If it was a cast trigger you’d be right and it wouldn’t trigger but, sense it’s an etb and at no point were the artifacts and enchantments not creatures it works 😁
Neyvinral can be a double edge sword also. Any instant speed removal on your commander will wipe your board. Better play around that. Also, a lot of the deck choices like elemental bond / guardian project revolves having the commander stick on the battlefield. If we revolve our deck having the commander always on the board, you better run a lot of protections (>7) including Ascetism or targeted protection. Else, just treat Bello as a finisher card or card draw engine where you'll swing to damage and draw cards then expect him to die on the next rotation. In this gameplay, you need to put a lot more value enchantments/artifacts or stax cards like ward of bones, immortal sun, or God Pharaoh's Statue. Some recommended cards also is primal prayers as you can bypass commander tax for instant speed cast of Belo before your turn. Leylines are also a good idea as you have the possibility of having them in play and swinging by turn 3/2. One of the weakness I am currently checking similar to enchantment decks is the swingback as these decks usually run fewer creatures and blockers. In RG, you have few good mass removal spells outside Blasphemous act so I also suggest putting a couple of fog cards just to finish off the remaining players.
Nice deck! I am worried about the defense. How do you avoind getting smack in the face with only 10 creatures? Artefact and enchant arent creature while it's not your turn :(
We use our board control to hold our opponents back (disk, blast act, war storm surge, and ugin) then we storm off and one shot the table. There’s a plethora of these effects in red if your playgroup is super aggro add a couple earthquakes and you’ll be golden 😁
@@woopymitch adding some earthquake effects will definitely help you out. You can also use sword of x and y cards with red in them that way your commander won’t take damage from red spells. cards like aether flash are also super good against swarm starts. 😁
Yeah I don't think dual nature works with this mechanic. Technically you make copies as your artifacts come into play as creatures, but you lose the token at the end of your turn as the creature is no longer on the battlefield.
Well there's a couple protection spells and the aim to make Bello indestructible with mythril Coat or some other stuff. There's not a lot of creatures but the deck aims to control the board with enchantments and have selective and powerful board wipes while setting up to storm off and just win on one of your turns. It seems like that can be quite early with this deck.
if (Bello, Bard of the Brambles) it leaves the field, 4/4 Elemental creature in addition to its other types and has indestructible, haste, and "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, draw a card." remains active? (on enchantments)
