I packed up and moved to Houston July 2019 from St.Louis Mo and I can honestly say it was the best decision I ever made. I had no family here or job just took a leap of faith. For some reason Houston just feels right to me. Glad to see others who feel the same!
I lived in Boston for residency and you summed it up perfectly. I recommend that every young person move at least once. It opens you up to all kinds of great opportunities and friendships you might not otherwise have.
It looks like we moved to Houston for the exact same reasons. I’m from a smaller town (Panama City, Florida) & it’s pretty much a retirement home in the form of a city lol . Houston is much more diverse with more things for people in my age group (30-35) to do. Awesome video ! 💛
I lived in Houston for about 8 years. I’m CA born and raised and wanted to experience living in a different state. It was a good experience. I had a beautiful home, a decent job and met some awesome people who I now call my forever friends! I got homesick after a while and couldn’t convince any of my immediate family to move lol. So I eventually came back to Cali but now since I’m getting older and CA is just ridiculous with the cost of living I am thinking of leaving again in the near future. Thanks for sharing your story and I wish you continued success and many more blessings to come❤️
YAAAAZZZZ!!! BEAUTIFUL YOUNG BOZZZZ QUEEN!!! ON DAT: ROAD TO . . . . .10K!!! BABY!!! BA-BAAAAY!!! KEEP RISING TO THE TOP!!! BLACK EXCELLENCE!!! HAVE A BLESSED DAY!!!
I moved to Texas in July 2019 from NewJersey and it was the best decision I made. I had a hard time deciding which city to live in- Houston, Austin, or Dallas. I visited all 3 cities and looked at various areas but ultimately decided on Dallas. I work remote which made the move easier and took a full year to prepare for the move. The cost of living and career opportunities (Im in banking) seemed the best for me in Dallas. Im just afraid of the hurricanes and floods in Houston which is what deterred me from moving there. Welcome to Texas!
So glad to hear you are enjoying Houston! I’ve been living in Charlotte for almost 11 years and I’m ready for a change so I’m moving to Houston in November. I felt like it was the place for me after just one visit, so I’m excited for a fresh start! 💞💞
Syndie thank you for opening up and being vulnerable and sharing with us. Girl I live in Jamaica and boy I feel like I want to migrate to either Canada or USA. I feel like I need a change but it is hard because one I dont have much savings and too the fear. The fear of experiencing another countries culture and not liking it etc Plus your girl is married. But listening to you in this video is really giving me strength. Well let's see what this year holds.
I plan on moving to Texas in the future for the same reasons you mentioned. The weather and cost of living. You were very brave to do it. Great video ❤️
Hey Syndie, I moved to Dallas in 2013 from South Carolina. I moved to California in 2017 and loved it. I moved back to Dallas in 2019 so I get it. Enjoy your journey.
Wow I'm from SC as well born and raised. I'm looking to move to TX soon. I just feel like it's time for a change and for me it's a major change and big step, moving out of state alone for the first time ever.
I love the part of wanting to be around ppl who look like you. That is my reality right now. We went to the same college and 100% i think its starting to be diverse now but ill never forget these two classes I had. I would always pray the other black person wasn't absent bc then it was just me!! Totally understand!!!
Yeah, girl! I know exactly how you feel! After my last grad course and being the only black person in that class and what I experienced (that's a story for another time) I was like it's time, lol.
I have no desire to visit Boston. Great for you and glad it’s working out. Not sure if Texas water is better but that was an eye opener when I was in Dallas.
Syndie we love you too and rooting for NOTHING but success for you. Taking a leap of FAITH and moving to a big city takes a lot of guts, so KUDOS to you for doing that. Looking forward to the upcoming videos on the other ventures that will be discussed in details. Great video 🤎
Born and raised in Boston. I’ve been in the city in my whole life and im over it lol. Everything you said is true. I’m ready to get out. Dallas here I come lol
Omg I’m from Haiti 🇭🇹 too and I live in Atl love it here but I’m praying god I can take the leap of faith and move to Houston I’ve never visit but I’m I’ll be moving there soon. I am so happy for you I wish you many more blessings and success😘
I really enjoyed this video. I came across your channel 3 days ago and I’ve been binge watching lol. I feel like I know you 🥴 Now, girl Dallas is not a small city. I live in the suburbs and go to the city all time and it is fun. I can totally see you living in uptown. It’s like an Instagram aesthetic. We have so many coffee shops , lounges , bars , great shopping malls ( Northpark + Galleria ) , it’s diverse and it’s chill. The weather is NOTHING like houston. I hate the heat and in Dallas ( yes, the weather is hella unpredictable ) but it’s really cool and the weather doesn’t go over 100 lol. The apartments here are pretty affordable but I see it rising because of all the people moving here from California 😒 lol but you should definitely visit Dallas. You’ve always got a friend here 🤠 👋🏾🤎
I agree with you! I think for me moving from the east coast to Dallas, i had an adjustment to the spread distance of where things are because Dallas is so big lol! But i love the weather, i still get to experience change of season without the snow 🙌🏽 I absolutely love it here and glad I chose to move to this beautiful city!
Wow, just got a chance to finish viewing this video and I'm so glad I'm a subbie of Syndie's! Another inspirational woman that I enjoy following! Keep flourishing Syndie! ♥️♥️
I hope you're loving Houston! I made the move in like three weeks after graduating college, best decision ever! I moved last year & miss TX a bunch (and may be back lol).
Full disclosure and thank you what a wonderful update. I love the fact that you said yesterday dating, you're in a relationship. End of story. No one else's business but you and your other half. Who is adorable by the way. Houston's a great place to get started I'm wondering how you felt about the snow and ice storm problems down there and the electrical grid. Having lived in Texas I know that it's kind of crazy up by Dallas
Great insights on Houston! I'm from Chicago and my family are also from Haiti. I'm living in San Diego, CA, after my doctoral studies. Considering moving to Houston to join Bioparma there. Thank you for the info! Best wishes!
Love the update! I considered Houston when I left Austin it’s such a great city for things to do and food but I felt like it was too big for me and the humidity/hurricanes 😭… but I’ll have to visit soon! I love Htown
I can definitely relate… I love a slower paced environment where it’s not too hard to adjust. And that lower cost of living is definitely important. Houston is definitely top 3 best cities to move in my opinion. Thanks for sharing! ❤️
All those struggles you explained with your car in Boston is exactly what im experiencing in NYC. And I haven’t even had my car long enough for a winter. Im not looking forward to that at all.
Girl! I was so over the slow and parking issues. And it felt so cramped sometimes. But, as long as you prep for the winter, i.e., ice melt, small shovel, and cleaning your car frequently when it snows, you'll be okay.
I feel the same way born and raised in Washington DC been here my entire life ready for a change cost of living here is high also so I’m in between Phoenix Arizona and Houston Texas both of these cities is way cheaper than DC great informative video Syndie❤️👍
Great interview 👍 I love that you went for it by moving and remember you can always visit your family and friends 😊 and make some content building memories and you can always go back and watch those videos. I don't see my family everyday and we live in the same city. How we combat that is we created a family group in duo were we can see each other and chat you all will have to download duo to your phones and when you call the family group anyone in the family group can join. See each other and catchup on or checking with each other. We create about 4 different family groups too I love it that is one way I survive. We are planning on moving to Houston soon. We are family of 5. I will really appreciate if you could give me some recommendations for some areas where I can find affordable apartments with good school. Thank you.

There’s more I can add to the comment but I’ll refrain; just know moving to Houston was a better move. Keep in mind; they will try to go up on your rent when it’s time to renew so be prepared. That’s just about anywhere you go right now. Stay blessed, successful, and sweet. 🙏🏼💰💰💰😉
