You have summed up my attitude toward metal elitists entirely. I personally would be thrilled if Behemoth suddenly started going platinum in countries all over the world. Not because I desperately want to be popular or anything like that, but rather because I think they deserve it. I want millions of people to see what I see in the music. I want them to appreciate the brilliance of the musicians I love and admire so much. Basically I want good art to have the following I believe it deserves. Perhaps I could be considered an elitist of a different sort, but the way I see it, at least I know to be happy for artists I follow on the rare occasion they do achieve some sort of major success without simply pandering to major trends to do it.
This elitism exists in more than just the metal genre. Its the sign of closed-mindedness.

He was a teacher of jazz on electric bass at my boyfriend's school and he was just like constantly judging other style of music than jazz, saying that it doesn't take talent for doing rock etc. And my boyfriend was trying to show him that it does take talent and there so many good music but he was really closed-minded... a teacher of music saying that all other music except jazz is trash, i was very shocked !! :o

I will never understand how people can offhandedly call Behemoth posers....they helped pioneer a totally unique style of blackened death metal, and have been at it for decades.
Absolutely agree. I've always liked them but never been remarkably impressed with their output until more recent years. The Satanist had me totally hooked.

Nergal is pretty much the reason why I still care and listen to Behemoth. Awesome video!
If you guys did the same music over and over again people would say you never change. If you venture in to new territory musically people say you sell out and go mainstream. No one's ever happy. This album is definitely different from you're older stuff. I knew of Behemoth but had never listened to them before. I listened to God=Dog and I thought you were pretty good and it got me to listen to the older stuff too. I like it all. I ended up purchasing Pandemonic Incantations, can't wait to get it.

I love Nergal. Everything I've seen of him off stage... he's so laid back, quick witted, and dryly humorous.

Ehhh. Behemoth isn't making great music anymore that is the thing. This new album is a disaster and I really don't see Behemoth coming back from this as I am seeing nergal's reactions. Behemoth was only black metal for one album. Still calling them Black Metal at any point past their Black Metal phase is an insult to their early work. Besides solo black metal artists do actually have talent. There is something about working by yourself that can bring new elements to black metal.
It's sad I think to be like you... If you don't like it you know you can just go somewhere else. Or just say I don't like it. But saying this guy or this other guy is doing shit is just a total lack of respect. Are you doing black metal? Have you sold anything? If it is that easy go sell CD's to hipsters....

Nergal is an absolute legend in my eyes, he puts a lot into his music, as does the rest of the band, to me they are gods of metal, and I love how he throws the comments away like they don’t matter! Love it!

I purchased the Live Eschaton dvd in 2001 out of curiosity and i really liked it, about a year or so later i couldn’t believe my luck, as you were opening, as well as Amon Amarth, for Deicide here in LA…I’ve never seen people clapping for a black metal band before, it was epic as you guys made the crowd stand still and paid full attention to your music and so different style.

Big news. He is a pop star obviously. I saw a couple of days ago that video from Archspire having fun with hating comments on a fun-video they made. Although they did the exact same thing with Nergal, they were way more funny, spontaneous and true than this guy.

Hey Nergal, to be honest, the new album is not my favourite one - it's not as pleasurable to my ears as Demigod for example, but technically it's really good and I really love the song "Bartzabel".
