Thanks for sharing this. I am sure this video will save some folks...the headaches that this issue with this washer...caused for its owner and repairman. Very thoughtful of you, to think to spare someone else this stress!
So helpful because my washer is doing the exact same thing! Even the noise is the same. I can also hear some loose stuff which is probably the corroded pieces of the spider arm. Sent a video to my repair guy. May not replace if too expensive. The part is constructed poorly according to other posts. THANKS!
Good luck finding a Samsung Service Tech in your area that is knowledgeable AND honest. Most of my search is replied with "we don't work on those". Made well but designed poorly with cheap Chinese Alloy for the spider bracket susceptible to Galvanic shock (its the weaker metal of the two components, the stainless steel drum & the alloy arm. This could have been easily solved with an inert bushing between the two parts, or a sacrificial Zinc anode (a weaker metal block that would be attacked first similar to the "zincs" on boat motors that need changed out seasonally). The PCB board itself, and the spider+tub assembly (no longer sold individually for my model year) each cost ~$500! New machines can be had for under $700
Funny... I'm still working on this issue. I'm Reading the comments and this one is spot on. Then I realized... I wrote in using my other YT account. Still can't find a guy that will work on these machines. I don't want to take it apart without knowing what issue to look for. I can wash heavy comforters or sheets all day long but can't get clothing to enter the spin unless I manually drain the tub and enter the spin only cycle. No errors codes in diagnostics or saved error codes. Perplexed still. The wifey says give up and buy me a new one! I hate getting screwed by china-cheap products
The technician didn't know much about Samsung washer. If the washer finish without clothes inside buth it doesn't with load, than thats the spider broken. But if it doesnt finish with or without thats the bearings.
I used to have a 14 year old Siemens S10-42 (2008) and the drum started rubbing against the door seal during high spin speeds making a loud noise and everything smell and was also literally flushing pieces of metal on the clothes; the spider is gone. Most washing machines that were built during the last 20-25 years aren't built to last as before, and one of the reason is the spiders are built using aluminium instead of cast iron or steel. However, MIELE have brought back the steel spider in their latest W1 models with the new drum, so I recommend you a Miele W1. They're expensive, though, but worth the money!
80% of the times when a spider it's broken you can tell by seen the separation beetwen thr metal tub and the door seal, even when its spining the gap should be always the same. The other 20% by pulling the top to the real if it make a craking sound than the tub it's gone
That's because the spider arm/rear drum support bracket has corroded and there isn't any support so the machine's suspension is too easy to move around and it thinks the load is out of balance
Thank you for the video. I have the same problem. First my dryer went out and had to replace heating elements, then 2 days later my washer. Did the Tech happen to show you how to access the error codes?
I just tore my Samsung front load washer apart completely - it was doing the same thing. Spider arm is intact and the bearings feel great. Any ideas what else it could be? I have codes 4C, DC, bC2 and UB.
What I did was to call samsung tech support, they took me thru calibration mode and search error codes. They know what the codes mean. We also replaced the 4 tub supports, 2 control boards and the front touch panel. Nothing helped. In the end, we called a samsung tech, just to satisfy our curiosity about what the problem was with our machine.
When we wash blankets, it absorbs a lot of water my top load smart washer from Samsung spins at 21 and shows “Ur” when unbalanced and jumps back up to 37 and repeats till it’s balanced if not then we’ll get the Ub code.
I wish my washer stuck on spin mode. SO I can turn the washer into a generator to power my home. this motor is very powerful even for the electric vehicles install on each wheel to have 4wd.
Trenton Turchi took the clothes out and drained water out into bucket. I then removed the filter cleaned it, ran a quick trial to make sure it was good. I then removed the filter again cleaned it out again yes again do it a few times and regularly through the day as you wash. Let me know if you got it working
Mine just started having this problem. It will run for up to 3 hours in some cases. Will never buy a Samsung again because it is broken at about 5 years. Repairmen says it's a control board but he won't come out to look at it. Most repairmen that I called don't even service Samsung machines anymore because they are junk. One repairmen said you will be lucky to get 5 years out of it. So, I am going to buy a Speedqueen top loader. They are the only brand that will last15 years.
When you get the Speed Queen, if there is no hot water in normal eco mode, it's supposed to be that way, all other cycles have hot water options.. I just worked on a Speed Queen.,
Can't be completely sure unless you have experience with this problem. Easy to mistake one sound for another, different machines might sound different also. Nothing we tried solved the problem on our machine. So finally, out of curiosity to know the cause, we called a Samsung tech who knew that the sound being made by our machine meant a cracked spider arm. We ended up scrapping the machine. But before you make such a decision, probably better to call a tech to be sure of the problem. Sorry can't be more specific. Watch the last part of the video where I show what our machine sounded like. The tech said the cracked spider arm caused the machine to vibrate, which caused it to recycle.
Another viewer said it was a loose door that caused it on their machine. You might consider having a technician look at it before deciding to recycle the unit.
Hi my samsung goes down to 9 minutes, Turns off, turns itself back on and the minute is now 10 minutes. This is a continuous loop. Is this the same thing in having bad spider arms?! please help
The only way to be sure is to call a Samsung tech. The problem could have different causes. We finally called a tech after trying a lot of other things. Good luck.
I’ve replaced the bearings with the same issue. Now it was a pain but the bearings were only 70.00 but it took me 10 hours being it was my first time. Hope this helps and the spider arms are like 250.00 so to me it’s definitely worth fixing versus buying a whole new washer.
Try a Wash cycle with one item or Nothing to see if it will Complete the cycle.......If it does finish cycle with Very small Load, then Suspension Springs or Some Nut holding the Drum is Loose.........Also, there’s a video on here that gets his Washer working with Wet/Dry shop Vac by Sucking Out the Dirt Clogging the Drain hose which drains between your water valves.
Same issue with my Samsung washer Wf365btbgsf. However it works well only when delicate washing mode is selected. Can anyone advise which part is broken? Spider arm or bearing? Thank you
The best way to be sure of the cause of the problem is call a Samsung experienced technician to look at your machine. Several things can cause the problem. It can't be determined for sure what it is without looking at your specific machine. It may not necessarily be the tub bearing, maybe something cheaper, but it could be.
There's an Australian tech who discusses intermittent failures of the spin/no spin issue similar to our machine WF56G9100. It works except for towels or sweatshirts, anything heavier. There is no wobble of the drum, the pump works on lite loads, not even mod heavy like 4 towels. No loud noises, no grinding noises, machine balanced. The Aussie tech found its the main PCB board and suggested sourcing it from ebay due to high cost. A neighbor has a service tech diagnose the same pcb board fault/failure. The "intermittent" issue is the giveaway, as a broken or cracked spider arm or bad pump would show total failure. We can do %70 of our wash. It's that %30 that has the Mrs enraged and hence my perusal of YT diagnostic vids. Probably late for you, but may help others. For our unit WF56H9100 the PSB main assbly part # is DC92-0183B
