She was sentenced in February to 16 yrs in prison, but that hardly seems like enough. Her name is Kelly Turner. To be fair to with the asthma story, sometimes stuff doesn't get treated as seriously as it should. When I was a kid before I was diagnosed I kept having asthma attacks but by time we'd get to the doctor my brsathing issues and symptoms would go down enough that I'd seem fine and the doctor wouldn't believe my mom that something was wrong. I was playing and having fun so they're couldn't be anything wrong. The doctor even threatened to call social services on my mom because he thought she was making it up and he was tired of her "waiting his time". It wasn't until I collapsed on the floor in front of the doctor and started crying because I was struggling to breath that he finally believed my mom. They had to keep me in the hospital over night. The doctor who diagnosed me said it was lucky I was there or I could have died if I didn't get help right away. We ended up switching doctors and that doctor got in a lot of trouble because we'd been up there so many times and he'd dismiss my mom. Now I am a little biased due to multiple occasions of me and other family members going to a doctor because we don't feel well and getting ignored. My great aunt passed away from an illness that could have been treated had the doctors listen to her when she said she didn't feel well. Doctors maybe be trained professionals but only you know how you feel. If a doctor doesn't take you seriously despite you saying you don't feel well go to another doctor and get a second opinion. But in all fairness to the nurse and doctor in this story, the ER is full of people who need help right away and normally, unless you're dying in that moment, you're going to have to wait. Everyone knows that.

    • @Abraksas112
      @Abraksas112 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In your case that was a bad doctor. But this case is a whole different story. The mother didn't need to be so disrespectful and also could've just say something like "she seems fine now but she didn't a couple of minutes ago". How are the nurse and doctor supposed to know something was wrong when now everything seems perfectly fine?

    • @mina_invers
      @mina_invers 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Abraksas112 oh I agree. The mothers behavior was uncalled for. It's been a second since I've watched the video but I believe she took her kid to the emergency room, and in the ER, unless you're dying in that moment you're gonna have too wait a long time. Everyone knows that. The kid seemed fine and they couldn't really do anything at that moment. I would understand her being worried but not being rude. But I do keep in mind I wasn't there personally and I'm only hearing one side of a story.

    That Make a wish story reminds me of what the son of a family I worked for asked. He wanted a treehouse, someplace he could leave his train tracks out in. There were no trees big enough to hold a sizeable treehouse on their land so they helped him choose a sizable play house that he liked. Then the father and most of the rest of the family built a platform in one of the pastures of their land to place the playhouse on so it was closer to a treehouse. The structure was close to a tree and built to stand gale force winds as they live in an area that can see a lot of hurricanes.
    I decided to tell this story since you made the comment about hearing so many "Make a Wish" stories where entitled parents want to make it about them.

    Story 4: My understanding was that Make-A-Wish had steps in place to prevent an entitled parent from stealing a wish since it could be considered fraud if it's not what the child wants. I've heard stories of Make-A-Wish going so far that if they suspect that the parent is making the decision they will completely withdraw the offer of a wish to protect to organization and future wishes. You know the whole "we don't negotiate with terrorists" thing.

    3rd story: This reminds me of something that happened to my mom's dad during the mid-1970s. At that time, my grandpa was a doctor at a hospital connected with a major university in the Midwest. The university's football team had a starting quarterback who was very talented and later played professionally, but was horribly conceited. One day, when he needed a routine check-up, he strutted into the waiting room at the hospital and immediately went to the front of the long line of people waiting to talk to the receptionist. She politely but firmly told him he needed to go to the back of the line and wait his turn. "But I'm (his name)! I'm the starting quarterback!" he said indignantly.
    "And I'm Judy! I'm the receptionist at this office. It's nice to meet you. Now please go to the back of the line!"
    The conceited QB didn't like this, and made a fuss, insisting he needed to see the doctor right away. As luck would have it, my grandpa was the first doctor who was available to come to the reception desk. He listened to the situation, and back up the receptionist, much to the fury of the QB. The QB ended up storming out, and tried to organize a team boycott of the hospital. The head coach, however, was having none of it, and made the QB write a letter of apology to the receptionist.

    The last story....triggering for me, due to the disrespect and not caring about her own child's wants, desires, or feelings. On Sept 1, 2021, on of my twin sons transitioned to Spirit just 6 weeks before their 16th birthday, and it's been 16 months now and I'm crying because people like her not only take advantage of having children, to enrich only their own lives, whilst there are parents out here like me, who have children that have also transitioned to Spirit, and only wish they had the chance to let their child/children have a last wish, and to cherish every second with their child/children even more, knowing there may not be a tomorrow in their immediate future.
    When your child is gone from earth due to suddenly something out of their control/knowledge, or with some one doing something to them, or from medical issues no doctor ever diagnosed because there are no symptoms until cardiac arrest and death from the damage done, {what happened to my precious son} a parent is taken completely by surprise. There are so many thoughts of I wish we'd known at least a little time ahead type thing. Even though something that is known about and trying to be fought medically but they don't look like good chances is agony I am sure, often you at least have time to process and cherish more, until you possibly 'lose' them. And you have some time of hope that maybe a treatment will work, and you at least are not taken off guard and out of the blue. However, I'm sure spending months or years watching your child slowly get worse must be incredibly difficult to maintain yourself with said child and travel that awful road of limbo for so long without letting it hurt your child more to see that. Must be horrible for most parents..for parents that actually love their children, that is.
    The fact that she had that chance, and fore knowledge, that time was short for the child quite possibly, and hijacked her child's last wish, for her own desires is the most disgusting thing from a parent, and the saddest thing for that child. Still crying, thinking I wish we'd known the twins had this awful thing Brugada, but not even doctors during surgeries they've had, had any clue something was amiss in their hearts. We would have happily cared for him our entire lives, had he lived but had serious damage that limited him in any way. Yet we lost our son without him being able to even get a last wish and leaving behind a twin, and people like her...they steal it from their own child and get to have a happy life event even if her child died or not. Doesn't seem like she'd be too broken up for very long, for some reason.
    It's wrong enough for a parent's child to physically die before themselves, but wronger still, a child having a parent that values their own happiness far above their own dying child's happiness. Absolutely not fair, is it? Not for that child, not for us parents who lost children in tragic ways without that opportunity...only that selfish a parent wins. So much more time I wish I'd had with my son, and would give up everything I own which isn't much but would totally give away, to have him alive back on earth. What a despicable 'mother' she is. She doesn't deserve children or pets...ever again. Some people should not be parents.

    The clinic story: the physician and nurse acted properly. The mother had already stated her willingness to sue, and by transferring the child under EMS conditions, they provided the best assurance that if a truly emergent condition occurred, treatment was available. Any action of acceding to her entitlement would only enable future misbehavior. The ambulance bill may not have been desirable to the mother, but she painted herself and everyone else into that corner.

    As someone who has an EMT as a best friend, the EMTs complaining about this are just upset that they might have been the ones to deal with her.
    As the Dr in the story put it, IF the child was indeed in danger, your certification would be on the line. You MAY win your case, but your record would be forever stained with that case.
    Yes, this was a waste of resources. But also calling the cops to remove her from the building since we ALL know she wouldn't leave on her own would ALSO be a waste of resources. Embaresment alone often isnt punishment enough for these Karens. They need REAL punishment. Like hospital bills and ambulance bills after finally getting what she wanted. And possible fines for incorrect use of emergancy resources.
    When Karen's get involved with hospitals, nobody wins. It would either be EMTs or cops. SOMEBODY is having a bad day and wasting their time and energy on this Karen. Dont complain just because you COULD HAVE been the ones who had to deal with her.

    I must confess I don't get the Make A Wish woman wanting her child to have a relationship with that horrid mother & step-dad. As they are that rotten, shouldn't the instincts of a loving mother be to protect her child from them?

    • @sueboswell735
      @sueboswell735 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What are you even talking about? There was no 'loving mother' in this story, only a manipulative, selfish woman who used her child for her own gains. The Make A Wish correspondent wanted the child to do what he wanted, which was meet his favorite band, it was the mother who coerced the kid into going to Barbados with threats and 'poor me' behavior. Make A Wish was behind the kid all the way, it was the selfish mother that betrayed her child. Make A Wish is not 'rotten', they have helped thousands of ill children with their wishes and brought some light into their difficult lives

    The son in the 1st story knew right from wrong & still chose to steal! Also Ray Bans are NOT inexpensive sunglasses my bag was stolen a few months ago & my Ray Bans (that were a gift) were stolen it cost me almost $235 to replace just the 1 pair! My husband & I live paycheck to paycheck so replacing those sunglasses which I forgot to mention were an xmas gift from my FIL from the last xmas he celebrated before he died! Stealing is just bs & if I had caught the crotch goblin that stole my bag containing such a prized gift I would have had zero problem pressing charges! OP didn't do that entitled little crotch goblin any favors by not pressing charges!

    Can I just say how wholesome it is that in Story 2, both the man and his wife bothered to educate themselves enough to know that OP isn't really supposed to touch other men outside her blood relatives, so he hands the scarf to his wife to hand to OP, and the fact that the wife tries to shield OP while she puts her scarf on, reminds me of that video of the women's soccer game where one player accidentally pulls on the other's Hijab and the opposing players shield her from the public while she fixes it. Like, so wholesome and kudos to those people, hearing things like that, momentarily staves off my feeling of doom for humanity.

    The make a wish story really hit home for me. Especially the end where she fosters a relationship between her kid and his grandparents. I did that. In part because I'd always blamed myself for how they were. Even if the situation were clear as a bell NOT my fault, I blamed some sort of weird relationship dynamic that couldn't be helped. Gaslighting is a hell of a drug.
    Well, my kids got to know their grandparents very well. And it's not good. Turns out that I wasn't the problem at all. They were. But I can't say if I did the right thing or not. On the one hand, my kids were hurt. Many times in many ways. On the other hand, they're wiser and stronger for it. Had I denied them the relationships they would've blamed me for never knowing their grandparents, not understood why. I always left it up to them and when my daughter had enough, she had my support 100%. In a weird way, the situation uncovered a really wonderful thing about my son's outlook on people. Turns out he was narcissist proof. He saw clearly, even at a young age, what these people were made of, realized that there was something wrong with them that made them 'mean', and offered them tolerance, patience, and forgiveness. He never allowed himself to take it personally. He could no more be angry at their abuse then he would with a wounded hurt cat lashing out. In his mind, they were wounded, confused animals.

    Story #2 really got to me as I live in Portland Oregon & in 2017 a man was on a MAX train, harassing 2 teenage Muslim girls with racial slurs & the whole 9 yards, 3 men stepped in to defend the girls & 2 of the 3 were stabbed to death with the 3rd being severely injured. They caught the “man”, he went to trial & is serving a life sentence for it.

      Several Americans, mostly middle-aged whites, have been arrested for attacking people in "foreign" clothing. Headscarves, turbans, tunics, even unusual looking shoes have sparked incidents.
      There's a large Sikh and Hindu population in my area, and they get discriminated against by whites fairly often... said snobby white people forget that the city chief of police is of Filipino descent, and the county sheriff is half Vietnamese.

      She should have cut contact. Her “mother” never loved her and her son doesn’t need a grandmother so badly that it’s worth being around a monster. I hope she at least is teaching him how evil her mother is so if he starts dating someone like that someday he knows that such behavior is something to run away from rather than normal, acceptable behavior.

    Last story. Parents who think that their kids owe them for everything that they did for them, are the worst. Doing things for your kids is what being a parent is all about and what you are supposed to do. If people choose to bring kids into the world it's 100% their decision and you get what you're given and do everything that you can to help them in life. Kids have no say in who their parents are and therefore owe them nothing. However if the kids then decide to have kids when the time comes the same will apply to them.
