Kingpin is my favorite deck and after spending quite a while editing and scriptwriting for this, I am releasing probably my best video to date. I'm happy with how it turned out and I hope everyone enjoys it as well. The intro is a bit on the cheesy side, but I like it. Was quite a hassle to record and edit together as well. People have been asking for a guide to kingpin for a while, and now I finally have something to send them to. You'll notice that my mic sound changes partway through, and that's because I did all the voice recording over 2 days, so sorry if that's distracting. A really good and detailed video! I really like that you voice your videos now too. I thought i knew how to play kingpin but i guess not. I would love to see you make a video like this on anarchist because that is another perk deck i have played for a while now and just kinda got a feel for without really knowing the numbers or details that makes it work that you go into in this video. Thank God I stumbled upon this, I recently got back into payday 2 and forgot kingpins armour health Regen and even traded bullseye for something else like an idiot!
I actually really needed this help. I had recently realized I had bought the scarface pack a long while ago and reinstalled it. So I've been playing Kingpin. The explanation of its mechanics explains why I seem to never quite do very well with heists. Even in DW. But after this video, and reconfiguring my build (away from ICTV) I hope to see better improvements and may help me learn to use the deck bettwe. Thanks. :D Amazing video.
Really enjoyed the video, I've been experimenting with kingpin after playing a lot of anarchist and Sicario myself and this guide has been really helpful. Would you be interested in taking a deep dive like this into other perk decks?

Yeah, it's a bit weird how it doesnt also mention that you need to have armour "active" to heal from damage, and that underdog doesnt really work well with the perk deck
I don't think anyone's going to care at this point, but I got this video randomly recommended to me again a year later and I feel like giving some insights in case anyone is still curious as to how the code for kingpin actually works, as well as allowing me to correct some of the incorrections in this video
4:40 although this "health borrowing system" is a nice analogy and works for most cases, it's not the best way to visualise the actual way the code works.
In general it's just important to know that the kingpin injector code runs before the actual health change, and during this code the health restoration of kingpin happens. This means that no matter what, if your kingpin injector is activate you will always heal the damage dealth to you times your current heal multiplier, then the enemy damage gets applied to you. This is also why shotgun cops (or anything that deals more than your max) will kill you, as your maximum health is still your maximum health and you'll never go above this cap.
6:40 - 7:50 This is incorrect. It is indeed most noticable when your armor is up and you're at max health, but the "overflow system" for health restoring your cooldown is exactly that. Any amounts of 50 health (rounded down) that is left after restoring you to full health, will then be applied in a function that restores your grenade cooldown by the times your health can be divided by 50 (or 5 in the code).
The main reason this isn't very noticable is because it's a pretty rare use case when you don't have your armor up and high health, but even just being at full health and taking a hit will restore your grenade cooldown by a certain amount.
Unfortunately the highest amount seems to be 8 seconds, which would occur by a green dozer shooting you at full health. Here's how the math would work:
First the attack damage gets multiplied by your heal mutliplier. In this case, 560 * 0.75 = 420
After this the difference between your health before the shot and your max health is calculated, in this case 0
Then the overflow is set to be the heal amount - your difference, which would be 420 - 0
Then the amount of times your health can be divided by 50 gets calculated and floored, which would be 420 / 50 = 8
And lastly, this gets applied to your grenade cooldown, causing the cooldown to be lowered by 8 seconds.
Note how in this example it does NOT matter if you have armor or don't have armor, the only difference is that you wouldn't die if you have armor.
Furthermore it is also possible for this to happen when you're at below 50% health, but because kingpin has so much health (and you usually have a joker) this means only very high damage enemies like shotgun cops and green dozers will ever trigger it.
This also means that heavy swats dealing 225 damage to you when you aren't at full health will pretty much always NOT lower your grenade cooldown
so basically nothing you said matters during gameplay because its either
1. coding clarification or
2. a rare case thats somewhat insignificant to its cooldown even when it happens
@@marah4847 The point of the comment was to give a more in-depth clarification and corrections of how the system works since even most top players don't even fully understand it. Any extra knowledge can help you out in gameplay.
The second point is rare simply because you'll rarely inject at full health and carrot's explanation gives a very unreasonable and even straight up incorrect assumption/explanation of how the system works. Lowering the timer by half for every injection is only realistic if you kill 15 enemies, not from the overflow system. Even without getting nograced you'd take way more hits than bullseye will let you make up for.
An example of using this knowledge in gameplay could be to inject at full health (or not at full health but you'll lose some cooldown reduction) to tank a green dozer shot with kingpin with your armor up and bullseye on him before getting shot and killing him, then going into a crowd or making a dash to use the latter end of your injection, reducing the cooldown by 17 seconds while still having 2-5s left depending on your timing. It's not the best use-case but it's something.
I mainly just prefer to have incorrect information be corrected.
@@jjpower2 im pretty sure his reduce cooldown by half assumption is because the cooldown starts as soon as you inject so even if you sat in a corner and injected thats 6 free seconds so really you only need to kill 9 or so enemies and considering itll take a second or so to kill and switch to a new enemy, assuming that the cooldown is halved per injection is a pretty realistic expectation

Kingpin was the first perkdeck I tried after getting DLC and with it carried my noobie group of friends through mayhem heists... yea we sucked

ICTV kingpin on console is so much more fun with 260 armour, it just feels better than LBV. I've tried lower armour and it just doesn't feel as good if I'm honest.

I just purchased the Crime Wave Edition PS4 and I got the Scar face Heist but the King-Pin Perk Deck is italicized with Red highlights accompanied with a note on the right hand side that states "I need to purchase the Scar Face DLC" ?? Same issue occurs with the character "Tony" and all weapons related to the Scar Face DLC ?? When I go into the PS Store it states " Purchased" beside the Scar Face DLC ?? What am I missing here ??

No, the copycat version of kingpin is so much worse than the actual deck that they aren't comparable. It would be a waste of everyone's time.

@@Helios2737 i got it yesterday from a cdkey for legacy collection. its all gambling tho, not many are left. it has to be a key from before october 2020 i believe, but there isnt a way to know without buying it and testing to see if you get scarface or not

Carrot i was looking in your build list but why do you use ictv on your safe house nightmare kingpin build if you say ictv is realy bad for kingpin?
Safehouse nightmare is an exception. There are only 2 types of enemies that can spawn, being titan dozers and cloakers. Since they do really low damage as compared to swat heavies on any other map, the ictv can completely block out most damage that you can take from them.

Considering I play tons of pubs and watch people playing with bad builds and bad play styles, yes.
Why not use ictv it's more armor and since the more armor damage you take the health you get back isn't that basically a no brainer

Building for gsps would be pretty much the same as building for the breaker, just in secondary slot. Pretty simple actually.

You don't need to stack damage since just overkill makes it 1 shot heavies. Past that, just get ammo stuff. Either go with aced overkill and some ammo efficient akimbo smgs or just bring ammo bags.
