This is my daily wearer. LOVE it. Very tough. Very versatile aesthetically. Have had it for 8 years now... At some point I guess I should have it serviced, but it's still keeping EXCELLENT time. One of the things I like about it now, as it has aged is: it is NOT a heritage re-issue. This watch was actually designed to BE a Polaris type tool watch in use, but it's own thing aesthetically. It is an original, JLC, tool model that succeeds both aesthetically and in durability. PS-- I use the GMT all the time (I live in NY, but most of my work is in LA), and I personally prefer a 12 hour scale for a second time zone (as opposed to most, which are on a 24 hour scale). For me, this is better because I just glance at the secondary hour hand and read the time as I would a normal watch, and not have to make an additional brain-step of needing to see the 24 hr scale, and then do the math if over 24, etc....)

i love your point that it's not a reissue model. Instead of longing for past times. Instead of looking at history.. BE a part of the history. Now i want this too.

Sports watch functionality, that would be quite at home at a formal occasion. I’m a fan.

This and the Master Compressor Dualmatic deserve more collector interest than they receive. The Dualmatic design is a bit less conventional, but both watches share the exact same case and closely related variants of the JLC 975 Autotractor caliber. For me, the Dualmatic Chelsea FC is the one to own, but neither will disappoint.

Thanks, Sebastian. One day, I'll add the Master Compressor Dualmatic Chelsea FC or the Compressor Memovox to my collection.

WatchBox Reviews Even though I'm a " football" (soccer) fan, I've never seen such beautiful piece made by JLC for the Chelsea premier league team. You truly have an amazing taste and as a true collector tend to have a particular taste for special pieces. Congrats.

I have one since the last year and I like them very much, but one question bothers me: Why are they so lightweight?? Thanks in advance!

Tim, the compressor crown is nice, but it looked from here like you turned it clockwise to open it and counterclockwise to screw it down. That's counter to convention and everything else--(except a Nikon lens)! Seem like an important thing to have to remember.

The color coding and directional arrows make it seem more natural. I've owned a Compressor for about eight years, and the crown action has never caused a security issue.

Tim, could you do a live episode featuring workd time or gmt watches which can display a timezone difference of 1/2 hour increments? Most watches can only display time differences of one hour.

It would be a short list. JLC and Parmigiani make a handful of travel watches that can be set to the minute in both time zone displays. Vacheron and Glashutte Original offer a small number of watches that attempt to accommodate the 15-30 minute time differences in 30+ real world time zones.

The odd 9 there always seemed out of place

These watches were quirky from the beginning to the bitter end. When the line launched in 2002, it was controversial, and I cannot say that there ever was a domesticated or conventional dial in the series. Ultimately, the Master Compressor crown and dial styles inspire love or hate responses. But the individuality of these watches has caused them to age better than many of their contemporaries, and all MCs were more adventurous than this year's by-the-numbers Polaris line.
