BREWZLE I LOVE YOUR CONTENT AND I AM GETTING MARRIED NOV 16TH OF THIS YEAR. It would be awesome if we could meet up and talk about where I'm at on my whiskey journey and why I prefer cognac over whiskey and how you got me into whiskey more and more.
TJ - I'm just Mike. It was great hunting with you. I've been practicing my intro for next time but wanted to make sure you had some good content for the video.
I-95 during rush hour there is a sayin in NoVA and MD, if you aint leave by 4, expect to stay til 7. DC traffic sucks, and worst in states. Allview liquors good store! Never had a bad experience there. when we helped my sister hunt bottles, Pine Orchard was always a sweet spot for rarer ones, or special bottles.
3:36 I have been to nearly all of the contiguous states and without a doubt, the DC area had the most insane drivers I have ever seen. Never seen anything like it
Idk florida as a whole has got some hefty competition lol. But yeah DC traffic is freaking nuts. I guess when you deal with that traffic every day, you end up losing it a bit 😂

that kentucky owl price wasn't a mistake. al liquor store near me (NY) was selling batch 12 for $115 . Owner said the distributor was trying to liquidate their stock and gave him a good deal.
The Catoctin Creek Ragnarök Rye was a special collaboration with the legendary Richmond, VA band GWAR. The original version was the same bottle but the toppers were the masks of each of the current members. The bottle they showed was the special Oderus Edition honoring the 10 year anniversary of the passing of GWAR singer Oderus Urungus/Dave Brockie. That version was their regular rye finished in rum casks
18:20 ordinarily Chestnut Farms is a TotalWine exclusive, but certain states do not allow exclusivity contracts between distillers, distributors, and retail. This is why in a couple states you can find Kirkland brand products outside of Costco. Likely a similar case there in MD.
Catoctin Creek is one of the best bang for your buck ryes out there. Maryland has a deep history with rye. Baltimore area was the top producer of rye whiskey back in the day
Seeing you out front of drug city just brought me so much nostalgia when I was a kid we went in there for snowballs all the time that liquor section wasn’t even there. This episode was particularly special for me. Genuinely I gotta know what you thought when the Dundalk smell hit you 😂😂
Drug City is a fun place to have a drink. Old Line is so good and love the store picks. Those Premier Drams are so overrated. Had some pours at Drug City a few months ago and for bottles that cost over $200 and a lot more had several Premiers out to try and paid $7 as lowest price and $12 for highest price pour of them and still thought I overpaid 😂 The Redwood Empire tubes are cool and the Empire sales rep did the tubes for Drug City. Went in and out standard bottle in tube and sealed tube. They look cool.
I just moved not even a mile from the Allview Liquor store. Love what Justin does for the community and I have definitely been a regular down here since moving.
Wild you all went to Drug City pharamacy soda bar before I did and I've been in there many times to buy stuff. I really need to go over to have a fancy pour lol. It's also crazy that I just met Ken on Saturday at another bourbon drop in Cecil County. I should have watched this last week.
Rye is the original American grain used for distilling. Long history of it dating back to colonial times. Ryes used to be distilled in people’s homes, so there were literally thousands of home distillers in colonial times.
Was not expecting you to stop at Angel's Share. I just watch your videos for the commentary, not even really a whiskey guy but Angel's Share is my go to craft beer store. They have a killer selection. Good to have you in MD!

Maryland is different because each county has different rules concerning how alcohol can be sold. Montgomery County operates their own liquor stores while another county only allowed alcohol to be sold in dedicated liquor stores. I remember staying in Baltimore and a drug store near the red light district had at least an aisle of liquor.
@@biggrocc19 Yeah. In most MD counties, alcohol cannot be sold in grocery stores but one county does allow that. Some MD supermarkets are grandfathered in so they can sell alcohol. I'm in VA and we can buy beer/wine in most stores between 6AM and midnight. I was denied once when I tried to buy beer at 5am at a 24hr Walmart.
Man being a native from Baltimore that story you told in the beginning was more than expected.😂😂 Every video I see of people visiting my home city they all have similar stories 😂😂😂
Grew up in L’ville. Live in Southern Maryland. Mom was a Hayden from Loretta, Gmom worked at MM. 5X GREAT UNCLE WAS Basil. Check out St. Mary’s County, Maryland. Was THE bourbon industry until they found Ky limestone water!
I'm fortunate enough to live 2 hours from Redwood Empire and you can get the hard to find bottles in most places in Northern California. I love what they're doing, my only problem is the price point but I get it, they don't have tog dawg distillery money.
Glad you enjoyed bmore! Good whiskey scene here. Disappointed you didn't pick up the Sagamore BIB, it's a gingerbread bomb and all their own distillate. Purple rising is 100% their juice too, glad to see it coming out so good.
Awesome tour! But brewzle needs to get his palate checked. He keeps saying things are malty when it’s not malt, it’s the barrel. For instance, he said Dettling is chocolate malt but there’s so little malt in it. It’s actually more corn with intense barrel chocolate. It’s probably because of a beer bias… chocolatey beers have lots of roasted malt.
Was fun meeting up with everyone at Drug City. Wish I could have made the earlier stops! Also, I may have been talking out my ass about the Calumet. I blame whoever told me that rumor!
Can't believe you came through my town in Howard County! Hope you enjoyed your stay. Also, very good of you to get a crabcake. Gambril is pretty close to the bay. Glad you liked it 😊
I just left Drug City looking for the Wild Turkey 70 year anniversary bottle. They have them but haven't released them for sale yet (its on pours at the bar however)
That store in Woodlake normally has solid options. I'm on the opposite end of the county from that location. Hopefully the Commonwealth and Central Virginia treated you well, TJ.
I kept hoping someone was going to tell you that Sagamore is releasing more and more of their own distillate. Small Batch and BiB (now 7yr) are 100% their own distillate. The Cask Strenght will also soon be 100% Sagamore distillate too. Maryland is a magic land for liquor stores because each county sets their own liquor laws. Montgomery County for example runs the stores themselves whereas Baltimore and others do it more laissez faire.
@@JPNess495 Pikesville is great but since it’s not local anymore, it makes sense for TJ to pick up a local bottle. Would have been a good discussion point for sure though.
