The third gen C/K was probably the best built Chevy truck before they started cheaping out on the build quality and interior. You still see a lot of them. Also they stopped using “Like a Rock” when GM closed the plant in Bob Seger’s hometown and Bob said no more.
My 00 was a tough dude I would not buy one newer then 07 or 08 then they fell on there face with that active fuel management they started killing cams with that u can have it bypassed tho

The Trail Boss is an OK package, but for off road trekking in a factory Silverado the ZR2 is what you want. It’s plenty capable, looks good (opinion), and has very civil highway manners offering a better ride than most of the other packages geared towards rough terrain.

I miss my 96 Silverado, but I don't miss the transmissions blowing up and the electricals failing. Other than those two things there great. I think 1999-2003 are the best Silverados, but that's just my opinion.
@@gregmarcus1026 I think that the 4L60/80E transmissions were pretty good if taken care of but they are geared pretty low. Lucky for me i drive a 94 so i have the easy to work on tbi. 96 was the first year for vortec so it has some issues that might've been worked out in later years

They did the Suburban, barely scratched the surface on them though, didn't even mention that for a little while you could get one with a diesel, and completely skipped the boxy years, which imo are the best ones, esp since that's when they had the diesels.

My 2005 Silverado, 5th (and last) I'd owned, had the instrument cluster die at 60k, the brake lines rot at 110k, and a tranny rebuild at 130k. I've never owned a truck that had more issues.

My dad has a 2004 Silvorado 1500, single cab, and its one of the cleanest trucks I have seen. Got mad power too.

@@oscarmanzano8264 I honestly don't know because it's never been on a Dyno, but if it was around 325 HP I wouldn't be surprised. This is coming from a guy who drives a RAV4 all the time, one of the slowest accelerating cars of all time. So, going to the truck, it's a lot of power.

They did the Suburban, barely scratched the surface on them though, didn't even mention that for a little while you could get one with a diesel, and completely skipped the boxy years, which imo are the best ones, esp since that's when they had the diesels.
Interestingly enough, I think the Suburban was the first major SUV ever made.

My 2005 Silverado, 5th (and last) I'd owned, had the instrument cluster die at 60k, the brake lines rot at 110k, and a tranny rebuild at 130k. I've never owned a truck that had more issues.
