Want to learn how to finally read a tide chart?
It might seem confusing at first glance, but it's actually really easy once you know what the numbers mean.
And reading a tide chart is super important because it can help you find and catch fish, plus it can help you stay safe.
You don't want to run aground or get your boat or kayak stranded in a back bay or creek, and knowing what the tides are doing is the key here.
So check out this video to learn:
    - What the numbers on a tide chart mean
    - How tide charts can help you catch fish
    - And more
Have any questions about reading tide charts?
Let me know down in the comments.

"Understanding tides is crucial." That's an understatement this weekend! Tides ripping in NJ at ONE FOOT PER HOUR yesterday with the king tide making its presence known. Thanks for the video! Typical differential is 3-4 feet, depending on location. Yesterday, it was 6 feet at Manasquan inlet; low was 1 foot below mean low and high was 5 above mean low!

I live in Savannah GA. Our tide swing for the next couple of days is right at 10 feet. That’s a lot of water moving.

Hi Luke, I'm just curious to know that if I could couple up my 65lbs braid (mainline) with a 130lbs mono leader line? Should I go ahead with the FG Knot and should I put on a layer of mono before spooling the braid and the leader ? Many thanks!!!

Can't go by such. Taking care of 94 year old dad. So my kayak fishing time is limited from sunup/first light until 8:30am. Gotta get home by 9:30 from la Jolla california.

I’m trying to learn how to read the Buoyweather app, it says today NW winds 5 to 7 knots, slight chop small long periods waves, Seas 1.2 meters at 18 seconds ( if I’m fishing on a boat does that mean the boat will get hit with a wave 1.2 meters every 18 seconds? I imagine the that less chances of getting sea sick ? Vs every 6 seconds? Is this right?

Excellent video! I, for one, have been mediocrally, occasionally, attempting to figure out what natural mechanism of nature actually makes our Galveston, Third Coast area tides switch over from a two tides per day schedule to a four tide per day schedule. Is it purely the moon phase only? I am extremely (extremely!!!!!) curious to learn why. And I’ve yet to find the source. I’ve been noticing it ever since I re-began fishing, again. And have frequented the free online tide charts of for the area. And although I do not understand how it affects the fishing chances, I am pretty sure that it does. Again at any rate, great short tutorial video!

Is the tide normally the same in each part of the world or do I need tide charts for my specific area!

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Each area will be different! You need to use your local tide stations and data to get an accurate reading of the tides in your area!!

So the high tide would be at the inlet and the ocean? And the intracoastal would be low tide at that point?
