    I know it's an old video but I have a 150 Opti and it ran good twice after taking it out for the first couple of times. I took it out the 3rd time and it started fine, idled well but as soon as I put the throttle down it stalled. It would start and idle well every time after that but die straight away at about 2500 rpm. I had to chug back to the marina at 3 mph, anything more and it would stall. I am changing the fuel hoses. I have a water separator in the boat as well. I will also change the filter on the outboard. Any idea what you think my issue might be?

      Sounds like a fuel issue.. might have water in your fuel tank. Definitely change the water fuel separator but if you already did that, might want to look at connecting a separate fuel source to rule it out

    I just bought a mako 191 with a optimax 135 and it starts and idles fine but under a load it falls flat on its face and I get an alarm (it looks like a piston on a crank shaft) for a misfire. Any suggestions?

      Mine does this. Starts and idles fine but under load I get a very slight misfire and then stall. I don't get an alarm though. What was your Opti's issue in the end? Was it a coil?

    I have this same motor can someone direct me where the carburetors are at? Are they imbehind the intake?

    HI, Very good video(even in he High wind). Im having 'Chugging' above 4400 rpm on my 2001 Optimax 200 DFI. HAve you opened up the VST? have you made a video of it? (same as Tania Scarlett comment below.) I have done new Plugs/Fuel Filter/Impeller/Checked all coils and/ wires. Now I need to look at fuel... Injectors/VST/ Sender and cannot find a diagnostic video on how to do a 'checklist'. THis engine is new to me this year (previously an Evinrude guy for 30 yrs). It seems you have the same GEn of VST on your 225. (1999-2002?)

      Nope lol..needed new plugs! Should’ve checked that first but it’s all good! Filter needed changing regardless

    Bought two filters and neither one would screw on past two turns. What gives?
