  • Here is my MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe Review. Is this the best camping stove out there? At 83 grams this is a lightweight camp stove but it still has lots of features including a regulator, 3 prong pot support and a piezo ignitor. The MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe stove works well in the wind thanks to a wind shield around the burner.
    Visit my new Amazon Shop! www.amazon.co....
    This is what they say:
    This enhanced PocketRocket stove boasts premium features, including a pressure regulator that makes it ideal for all-condition environments, offering consistently faster boil times than non-regulated canister-mounted stoves. Just a smidge heavier (10 g/ 0.3 oz, or the weight of two nickels) than the PocketRocket 2 stove, this ultralight deluxe version features the most durable push-start Piezo Igniter we've ever built and a broad burner head for better heat distribution and simmering. For backpackers traveling fast & light on the trail, or a quick weekend in the Cascade Range, this deluxe model offers one of the best overall cooking experiences in its ultralight class.
    Consistently Fast: Pressure regulator maintains stove's fast boil times even in cold weather & with low fuel.
    Ultralight: Just 83 g (2.9 oz) and ultra-packable; expands the menu options for ultralight backpacking.
    Push-Start Ignition: Fast, reliable piezo lighting; spark igniter is protected inside burner for maximum durability.
    Broad Burner: Improves wind resistance and combines with simmer control for excellent cooking versatility; wind-blocking burner lip.

    only issue for me is its a pity it doesn't come in a protective plastic container unlike the pocket rocket 2, Great stove, good review, keep up the good work

      Totally agree, the cheaper version has a more expensive case.

    Fab video as always Andy ! Have you still got your bobcat 1 ? Just got one on the back of your review and I love it! Will be perfect in the colder times, all my one man tents are similar size inside so used to being cramped lol ! Cheers buddy keep up the good work, think your growing at a decent rate now and rightly so! Cheers

    I got mine for $63 US Dollars on sale but normally $85 at REI outdoor outfitters in US. I just wish they made a hard shell case for them as stuffing the stove tightly in bags I'm afraid could cause damage. I haven't used mine yet but amazing how quick and easy and you don't have to clean them like with the liquid fuel stoves, however traveling internationally I'm afraid of running out of cannisters, plus you can't bring the canisters on airline flights yet I'll rarely fly and going by bicycle.

    The BEST camping stove is that Chinese copy of the Pocket Rocket for $6.95 that I bought on Amazon and it is just as good and much more compact when folded.

    I'd have thought the Soto Amicus was the direct comparison? I'd still go with the Soto it has four prongs and comes with or without the igniter, you can pick it up with the Soto River pot for just £41.

      @BackpackingUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Amicus is basically a budget version of the Windmaster. Head to head with the Pocket Rocket 2 I think the Amicus is better.

    Recently picked up the msr pocket rocket solo stove kit and the quality is insane definitely worth the price it was an upgrade from my cheapo Amazon stove

    Do you know of any titanium mug with lid that would accomadate the gas and stove Andy ???? If that package exists i would buy one but for now i a sticking with my MSR windburner. Great video as always mate.

      Not really. Personally I would bother and just use an all-in-one stove like the Windburner.

    Hello from one Andy to another. Do you fancy a Wildcamp colab video? on an island in the lake district? I have two SUP boards if you want to borrow one? I stayed in a Treetent last time but just bought a Nortent vern 1. Should I could learn a few things from you.

    I recon 3 points of contact means the pan/cup won’t rock on the supports . Great review

    • @BackpackingUK
      @BackpackingUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm still not sure. If the pan / pot is flat and the prongs are flat it shouldn't matter.

    Nice video mate. Can you fit a regular size mug on the top without tweaking the arms inwards? I have a micro rocket and the arms sit a bit wide if you’re using a mug so you have to bend them in a bit but it’s not the most stable solution. Thanks.

    my brother uses a pskook, looks very similar to the pocket rocket and it also has the piezo ignition. I like it that much I've ordered one from amazon for £20:99 .

    Brilliant stove had mine for years , this year I’m going to use my Trangia meth stove.

    • @BackpackingUK
      @BackpackingUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve got a Trangia too with a little pot support. The only thing I’d say is Trangia’s are useless in the wind so get a good shield or a full Trangia set up.

    I have the SOTO windmaster , you would do well to beat it. I tried MSR after owning their best heavy cooker also called a windburner.
    The SOTO kills it .

    How many cuppers & meals can you get out of one of those stoves?

    • @BackpackingUK
      @BackpackingUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Out of a gas canister? It really depends on the outside temperature, temperature of the water and wind!

  • @UK_Foodie_Guy
    @UK_Foodie_Guy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you think it’s better than the wind master?

    • @BackpackingUK

      No, I really like the Soto Windmaster!

  • @mikelovesbacon
    @mikelovesbacon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The igniter on my PocketRocket Deluxe stopped working after about 10 days of camping, so 20 to 30 uses of the stove. I consider it junk.

    • @BackpackingUK
      @BackpackingUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gutted! I think it’s a bit of a lottery. My Jetboil has been perfect yet my mate has issues early on. Similarly with my mates and MSR Windburners.

      @mikelovesbacon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BackpackingUK yeah luckily it still has a few months warranty left so I can send it back. Might buy a Soto Windmaster though, and have just picked up a Trangia as my backup stove. Very excited to try it.
