. . . . . . . . That last match was a complete outplay on so many different ends. Granted, that might’ve been the first time they played against something like that
I see clem the young serral on another multiverse of StarCraft. Both of them have a peculiar way of expression when defeated and those focus eyes are very similar especially on early reads.
That queen creep spread is str8 up map hacking on a whole another level :). That last game is like a chess match, being checked left and right until you make mistakes out of frustration.
I know it's expensive, I know tech transitions are hard, but why don't Zerg players build corruptors to deal with Liberators? I never see it, and I feel that it would be efficient.
Gotta love game 5. Terran having to deal with their own medicine, i hope this play gets utilized a little more. Never seen a Terran tap out as quickly as Clem because he couldnt deal with a drop in his base. Kinda shows how much worse Terrans are compared to the Zergplayers... skillwise.
Terrans like clem can't do what they want when they get chin checked. Don't chin check a terran and the game becomes -> I can attack you, but you can't attack me. These moves from Serral in game 5 is literally a constant "chin check" and it worked like a charm. If you were to compare all three races to keys in musical theory on the piano then this is what you will get. Terran- Key of C. No need to know any black notes. All the white notes equal all the notes in the key of C. C D E F G A B C. Everything is provided for you to be successful. You can literally improvise in any song that is in the key of C. It will take some time, but you literally can't make a mistake its dummy proof. Anybody can play the key of C. ANYBODY! Protoss - Key of A. You need to know 3 black notes. You can't just touch all the white notes. I use the key of A because you can say 3 black keys is like needing collo, disruptor or Ht to deal with a terran player. Disruptor and HT requiring manual control ( 0 A.I). Key of A is much more difficult and requires more skill than key of C. A B C# D E F# G# A. Zerg- Key of B. You must know 5 black notes -> B C# D# E F# G# A# B. You can't just touch all the white notes. Lots of things you must do. Queen inject, spread creep, micro, army composition, when to drone, when to make an army, expanding. There's just several things you must do to be top tier. Key of B performance will always be more impressive than key of A and key of C performance (its a more difficult key) and I'm a toss player. Just remember SCII is heavily programmed with Terran bias. Thanks Serral for demonstrating the disparity and still winning.
LOL say that about 6 time winning GSL champion. which by the way has never been done in the history of SC2. He's dealt with a lot worse and made it look easy. You have no idea what you're talking about. Zerg is the easiest race to play in the game any player who mains random will agree.
@@ShiDWa Terran is noob race dude. Have you seen a toss struggle with lurkers? Its brutal. It can wreck collosus, stalkers, zlots, disruptors and everything else. Its like you need air great positioning to deal with it. Then here comes a midget ghost with a sniper and snipes it in one shot like its a zergling. Its the most ridiculous garbage ever. The list goes on and on. Zerg will always be the swarm like broodwar. They designed to make a bunch of hatcheries and troops and just swarm you and try to break you. This top level play of spreading creep, inject, positioning, macro, requires far more skill than hitting a stim button, stutter step, oh I'm getting overwhelmed I'll load up in a drop ship and try again all day long.
I think it's a little ignorant to say all Terrans are worse than Zergs, skillwise, when you're comparing any player to Serral, the GOAT. Clem is an amazing player.
@@orangepearlf40 This is so hilariously ignorant, and proves how little of the game you understand. And I'm saying this as a Zerg player. You think, multi-prong drops and split pushing while macroing is easy? Focus firing banelings on multiple fronts, defending against runbys, all while macroing? Terran army requires so much control to be effective, positioning marines behind marauders to shield them from banes, picking up at the right time, splitting vs banes, siege/unsiege tanks and libs. These are things that set top terrans like Clem apart from all others, and if you can't appreciate how much skill that takes then I feel sorry for you, because it's a beautiful sight to behold when done properly.
This matchup is so weird. Clem always gets owned by Korean zergs but he seems to hold his own against serral. Then you have serral the goat who beats the likes of maru and dark
It's a matter of playstyles. Serral would like to play defensive and just beat your frontal push and out-macro you to overwhelm, and that works against any Terran that is defensive-turtley (which is most Terrans, especially Koreans). However, Clem is so aggro-oriented, and sacrifices defense to get better attacks, that if you don't punish his defensive sacrifices with your own aggression he will overwhelm you with his powered up attacks. Players like Dark, who is very aggro-oriented, take advantage of Clem's defensive holes, whereas Serral would rather sit back and deflect your attacks, and isn't as good at exploiting Clem's defensive weaknesses. If you look at this series, all the games that Serral wins are games that he goes for big aggression instead of sitting back and defending.
Its gotten really annoying to watch SC2. Mobility and Range are the 2 most important things in a game, no matter what game. These 2 things allow you to simply outplay your opponent. Why the fuck are they giving terran units so much armor ontop of that? I sometimes feel like Marines and Ghosts are all classes of an MMORPG put into one. You can always choose where and when to fight in this match up as a Terran, and there is no chance for a Zerg to shut it down efficiently. There is no punishing mechanic for Terrans in this match up. No matter when and where you are out of position, you can just load up, or stim at highspeed faster than any fucking unit back into your zoning units (tanks/liberators) And when the enemy retreats, you just pop snipes and 1shot units with a unit that costs half of what the enemy unit costs. I dont know why people keep saying Zerg is imba, no, they are not. If you got the micro and macro, Terran is unbeatable. Terrans should not be allowed to load units back into the medivac instantly, but rather 1 by 1 just like the unload mechanic. The efficient harrassment here is what snowballs the unbalanced match up to begin with. We used to see a Zerg Max out before Terran, nowadays the Terrans are nonstop on equal supply due to that and ONLY THAT. He is just boosting back and forth and Zerg has to commit to 2 places with thrice the army capacity to actually prevent damage, Its beyond me how everyone thinks this is balanced. POINT IS : If a Zerg makes one bad engagement, its good game. In fact, the Zerg needs to have multiple good engages in a row to actually gain enough advantage to be even egible to win a game.
good to see balance whining is still alive and well in 2023. If Terran is so broken, why are the proportions of races still so balanced at the tops of tournaments?
Why does it always look the better player never has a shot even when doing the best moves. A lot of Hero games seem the same. I love Clem, don't get me wrong, I just gotta scratch my head and wonder what Serral could have done anything different in game 1, minus the lucky shove.
Getting caught out of position against that type of aggression is game losing, so if you're asking what he could have done better, it's having Roaches in right position. Pig even points out the correct positioning in the second game. Your initial statement of "better player never has a shot even when doing the best moves" is incorrect, because Serral absolutely was not making the best moves that allowed that aggro to get into his main unchallenged.
@@space_orphan yeah no doubt losing to serral cannot be seen as a huge F But lately it seems like Clem's got a habit of heartbreaking losses when he's up by 2 games starting out v_v
5:15 : okay so I have a question, did Clem cut in workers for this timing attack? How is it possible that despite Clem killing a whole patch of workers (15), Serral is still up in workers and units?????? It's kind of annoying how quickly Zerg can build drones, and that harass has no big impact on zerg economy... If Protoss lost 15 workers at this stage at 5 min, it would be a huge problem.
You must be new to starcraft, so let me explain a few basic mechanics to you: Terran has mules, and each orbital is worth about 3.5 workers. As such, in order for economy to be even, Zerg needs to have 3-4 more workers than Terran for every orbital on the map. As such, if Terran has equal workers to Zerg, but has 2 orbitals, they are actually have an economic lead equivalent to 7 workers. Also, an economic Terran opening includes building a 3rd orbital fairly early on, and pumping SCVs from it. In order to execute this attack, Clem didn't build a 3rd orbital, so his economy is lower than it would have been if he had built it. All that being said, Clem does have a fairly large lead after killing all those workers of Serral. Also, yes, Zerg can build drones fast, but you have to remember that every drone that Zerg makes is sacrificing a set of zerglings. So, if you kill a bunch of their economy, you need to keep up the aggression to stop the Zerg from droning freely. If they make too many drones at that point, you just kill them cause they have no army. The counterpoint to this is that there is no point in doing really good harass if you can't follow up with aggression, because if you can't attack them they can just freely replace all the drones that you kill.
I already watched the series twice covered by other casters, but Pig still has so many technical details to add.
