Well I ignored the service vehicle soon message and my car broken down on a motorway. When I parked up 15mins later had a huge puddle of engine oil on the bottom of car. Got car recovered and now waiting next week for it's check up. Any ideas? We think the car is game over
Ive just bought a vauxhall insignia with this light on presuming it was scheduled a maintenance reminder after googling, so your telling me the car could have big problems , i always thought Eml light on the dash was problems not a service soon light
Service vehicle soon light is a pre EML light. It’s telling you to get it into service before it becomes an EML issue. Weird Vauxhall stuff of the time like their code X for bulbs out or doors open etc.
I checked for codes and no codes came up on the obd scanner , I tried to get to the oil percentage window , but couldn't find it I pressed the menu button to scroll but wasn't there , am I pressing the wrong buttons
@@robertacanning1977 it should just be menu then scroll to oil percentage. Might be different if the engine is running or if it’s a software/year thing.
You need a diagnostic box to find out the cause of the svs warning. It’s a pre alert that the main engine management light may be in soon unless a problem is fixed
@@naeemshahzad7731 unfortunately not. Each service vehicle soon message relates to one of many faults it could be. As in the video it's 2 faults on this vehicle. It could be any one of a dozen or more reasons hence why it would need to be plugged into a diagnostic box to find out what your fault is and how to cure it.
It’ll need to be plugged into a diagnostic tool to see what’s wrong and causing the fault. The oil reset won’t have any effect on the way the car runs but the service vehicle soon warning is a fault warning.
I get this message and My fan also stays on, after I turn my car off even if I drive it for a bit. I’m just hoping it’s not a major fix. Any ideas what it is?
@@noisyneighbors1106 yes and it will do it’s own regen. Long steady run at reasonable revs. E.g Motorway run in 5th not 6th. You may feel a change in how it’s running when it starts to regen. Also some people report the distance to empty trip drops dramatically then goes back up when it’s finished.
This video is legendary. The creator of it is a massive legend never to be forgotten. 😁
Never 😂
Your a Legend couldn’t fix out why it wasn’t resetting till I found this vid thanks bro
No problem thanks, you’re welcome
That was very helpful, thanks buddy
You’re welcome thanks
Service vehicle soon. Sorted Thanks for that
You’re welcome thanks
Do you know if carly would reset the sys message? Thank you
I’m guessing Carly is a diagnostic machine. It may do you’d have to try it. If there’s a fault present it’ll not reset with most machines. Thanks
I have the same problem, but I have a maintenance lamp and a change in the sound of the engine, please reply to

Could be all manner of things. Let the garage have a look.
@@redram52 requires a gearbox that one suspected. The AA chap said bottom end engine that I needed to scrap the car lol

What about code 178? Car starts with good battery is good voltage charging okay however I can’t clear the code!
Perfect thanks 👍
You’re welcome thanks
how long did the SVS stay off before returning?
Only a day or so. The fault cleared with me then came back after the ecu had time to recheck everything.
@@redram52 thank you for your reply.
Did you figure out what it was?
Hi mate what's the diagnostic that you using in these video please
Autel.
What diagnostic are you using and how much
It’s an older Autel , this video is a few years old now.
Can this possibly stop the car from starting?
Depending on what the fault is it’s possible. Usually it’s the engine management light not the svs light that would be a major issue though.
Is there no way of resetting without diagnostics?
No unfortunately it’s a fault code stored in the computer so it’ll need a diagnostic device to clear it.
Nice information but when the car message comes vehicle service soon then turns of what does this mean what could be the reason guide us please

Thanks for your response and can you make one video clip to solve this problem in the car thanks

Did ur car go in to limp mode
No. Because it was the service vehicle soon warning it was ok.
@@redram52 mine says service soon and mines stuck in limp mode
Mine has done this exact thing. Oil warning then service alert into limp mode. Also when I try to reset oil it stays on 0% and won't reset.
@@jamieporter580 hi did you work out what the issue was. Thanks
Engine OFF when you do this
Yes. Ignition on, engine off.
Mine says 98% oil life

Dpf trying to regen?
How do you get it to regen just go on a motorway drive or something

my service light wont reset ??
If it’s the car & spanner light that’s a pre warning. It’ll need plugging in.
@@redram52 no it didn't need plugged in but thanks for the reply .
