That’s a loaded question! I’m self taught and learned through books at first. Bonnie Fitzgerald and Sonia King have excellent mosaic books. Eventually, you just need to start!

Is the thinset green or did you color it and with what? And do you just throw away the slivers you get from breaking the smalti? Thanks for the tip on cutting tile!! I love the bugle beads on the cactus!

You could use anything for the mosaic! Can't really mess up with that base. Were you able to get the monstera base?

Thinset is from Home Depot with Mortar Admixture and green dry Colorant added.

I used green Colorant pigment in white thinset for the leaf. And I keep the smalti scrap!
