R.I.P. QUINCY JONES. Idgaf about your personal life but your musical contributions are undeniable. There will never be another and Thank you for the music Sir❤
"Ai No Corrida" (lit. Bullfight of Love) is a song by the English singer and multi-instrumentalist Chaz Jankel, written by Jankel and Kenny Young. The title is based on the Japanese title of the erotic film In the Realm of the Senses] It was first recorded in 1980 and featured on Chaz Jankel's debut album Chas Jankel for A&M Records. The song was covered by Quincy Jones in 1981 on his album The Dude, with vocals by Dune (a.k.a. Charles May) and Patti Austin. Jones's version peaked at number 28 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number 10 on the R&B chart. Quincy Jones's 1981 recording of the song won the Grammy Award for Best Arrangement, Instrumental and Vocals in 1982.
In my opinion, Louis Johnson is a figure much more than legendary, I would dare to call him a divine miracle. The beauty of the emotions that made us live, no other bassist will ever be able to sound like him. R.I.P. Thanks for existing.
Respect and sadness for the premature loss of these great musicians. The world lost today Wayne Shorter.... a pioneer of jazz-rock fusion ... R, I, P, !
Curious to know how many people watched this video, and realized that Q's then-wife, the late, beautiful Peggy Lipton, was one of the background singers ? I recognized her right off. This is a great live version of one of my all-time favorite Quincy Jones songs. Jones, Patti Austin, James Ingram, and the Brothers Johnson (saw George on guitar 👍🏻) made some incredible music together. Ageless stuff.
Didn't recognise her immediately (her hair was longer during Mod Squad days, plus she was in her early 20s), but did when the camera kept panning to her.
Great vocals by Pattie Austin and James Ingram so very much underrated as a pure vocalist ..Saw her years ago at Virginia beach with Alex Bullon she can really sing live which is rare these days and the Dude is a great album by Quincy jones .
Sick nostalgia of when I was 17' 'all I knew back then was that this was the Jam' now at 54' I still get a knot in my throat listening to my beautiful life having flown right by' oh but the memories ' thank you Dude'and congrats on your star on the Hollywood strip this November 27 '2018 a day after my birthday ' this is my song.
In 2022, guys/girls I grew up with this music and musicians. Regrettably, I don’t think the world will ever be blessed-again, with this kind of timeless talent and musical genius.
Wow, it would've been a treat to witness this in person! It's pure joy now, being able to enjoy this video....what a great congregation of musical & vocal talents...with Q, the maestro, at the helm. So many great memories in 1 song...I revisit it often! RIP to Louis Johnson, James Ingram , Peggy Lipton & Quincy!
So fabulous such great energy you all had so happy , shame the music is not being made like this just makes you want to get up and dance joyfully thanks for sharing JR. love it !
Learned how to slap dat bass years ago, watching Louis Johnson's instructional VHS (Yes, I'm old)!! Great tune, and jamz by all in this video. Thanks for posting!
When you make masterpieces like this, produce the best selling album off all time, win the most grammy ever you can dance however you want to i guess lol
I learned something new, too my Friend😊. I knew James Ingram & Patti Austin did Baby Come To Me & How Do You Keep The Music Playing but not this song🤯🤯🤯
RIP Louis! You will be missed so much. Quincy has legendary parties in LA. He knows all the great musicians. Hope they have a monster jam in your memory "Boot".
I remember hearing this song when I was small and always trying to figure out what those words were in the chorus. This is definitely one of those timeless tunes.
Wow ! I use to love this song when I was a littleboy but never knew who made it ! There are alot of people in this video who went on to become famous musicians in thier own right . Greg Phillengaines on keyboard went on to become Michael Jackson's music director, James Ingram and Patty Austin went on to become legends of R&B music and Lewis Johnson of the Brothers Johnson did the bass work on alot of Michael Jackson's Off The Wall and Thriller albums. Quincy Jones knew how to pick them !
I love Quincy; he's responsible for making some of my fave music of all time, and he amassed world-class talent. I see Ingram, Austin, Johnson (the master!), Phillinganes, Andre Fischer there... but Quincy looks silly prancing on stage as if he's doing something -- he's not even conducting. I can imagine people in the audience thinking, "What the heck is that guy here for?" Wish he either conducted, picked up his horn, or just sat backstage on this. But thx funkyloydy for the clip! :-)
one of my all-time fave bass lines!! Quincy, u promised you'd let me play the on the studio recording!!!! Why did you call Louis???? This hurts man!!!!!
Q's music has become a part of the universe. His music is timeless.....I'm very inspired by his handprint on music like Michael Jackson's Off the Wall and Thriller albums.
Are you fukin Kidding me? Wow, So many Artists I listened to and loved in my Childhood all on one stage. Patti, James, Bros.Johnson, Quincy... Hearing them along w/ Stevie and MJ on the album is one thing but watching jams like this performed is just pure ecstacy!
I ❤ it, this concert is a great page of music history. Now I know that Jamiroquai took inspiration from this live for the groove of the tune "travelling without moving".
the baddest bass pick percussionist thumping bass player of our time... mind you... he didn't sugar coat anything... he actually plucked those strings... victor Wooten and others took short cuts to sound like that with there own bass tricks and style... Louis was one of kind..... just ask Quincy Jones...
I am James F Jr... Louis Johnson.. The great Quincy Jones. Patty Austin, James Ingram on Vocals. You cannot lose. And a host of top rate Musicians. Patty Austin wasn't really given all of respect and admiration she deserved. And in the group of back ground singers does the White female resemble Peggy Lipton Jones? I am just saying? This is another Masterpiece. My opinion. .God Bless you all.

I agree with you partially only because his brother is just as ferociously talented a guitar player.
Actually the two Johnson brothers known as ‘Brothers Johnson’ are simply too good beyond belief.

A party for the senses from start to finish. Awesome.❤
Louis Johnson on bass and JR Robinson on drums, the ultimate rhythm section.
Ah, good. Was wondering about the drummer's name.
Don't forget about Ollie Brown on percussion
Respect and RIP to singer James Ingram(1952-2019) and bass guitarist Louis 'Thunder Thumbs' Johnson(1955-2015).
Two of my favorites
Respect and sadness for the premature loss of these great musicians. The world lost today Wayne Shorter.... a pioneer of jazz-rock fusion ... R, I, P, !

Look it up I believe it’s not an original song , search TH-cam you’ll find the author singing in a video
yeah... I recognized her... Peggy Lipton (former Mod Squad serie on tv), beautiful woman
Didn't recognise her immediately (her hair was longer during Mod Squad days, plus she was in her early 20s), but did when the camera kept panning to her.
I really don't think that's Peggy Lipton. 😕
Great vocals by Pattie Austin and James Ingram so very much underrated as a pure vocalist ..Saw her years ago at Virginia beach with Alex Bullon she can really sing live which is rare these days and the Dude is a great album by Quincy jones .

In 2022, guys/girls I grew up with this music and musicians. Regrettably, I don’t think the world will ever be blessed-again, with this kind of timeless talent and musical genius.
