    I'm really puzzled how walking separately from your spouse or girlfriend helps you avoid detection. I would think that a couple going through the airport looks more natural and less suspicious than a single person, especially if you're coming from a country notorious for drugs. I would naturally assume that a smuggler was acting alone, not with a partner, especially not with one that looks like a romantic partner. A couple who might be coming back from Carnival in Rio or a honeymoon in Jamaica looks to me less like smugglers than a single, young male coming into the UK from Rio or Jamaica, for example. I can understand if the logic is, 'We are both carrying drugs, so if we separate and they only catch one of us, then half our drugs got through.' But how does it seem like they will be LESS suspicious just by virtue of seeming to be travelling alone? Young, Rastafarian man with one bag, travelling alone vs young, Rastafarian man travelling with his wife or girlfriend, helping her carry her bags, looking like a loving couple - which one would YOU think more likely to be carrying cannabis? Or the same couple with a baby or a couple of kids. I'd go for the single guy, not the young couple or family. Can anyone explain the logic?

      First time, you are lucky to just get off, with a record of doing this you are likely to get legal action taken. I think most people do it for their own use and they just don’t think about getting caught. The loss of the cigarette can translate into a huffy money loss, they can also be fined separately. Their offence is also recorded and they are tracked on future travels. As I see it, most people are greedy when they see the cigarettes selling so cheaply.

There is a stark contrast between the two: the Canadians look like a nit-picking bunch of mean amateurs going after petty infractions compared to the UK guys who are respectful, professional and go after real threats to their country. I don't know of course if this difference is real or it's just the cases the show producers chose to present but it's there. 👍

      Im Canadian, Lol good observation but don't be fooled by the accents. The UK TSA are often lower social class than USA TSA people and that says a lot. Canada is all about stopping any person with criminal past, DUI or planning to move to Canada. That's all they care about. It's similar to Australia border patrol who only worry about agriculture and people moving to Australia. UK has a different problem. Being so close to Africa and other countries considered to be high drug trafficking areas. Plus nobody wants to move to UK so they never screen for that. They only care about drugs cause they know you can become a quick British millionaire with 1 Kg of coke because nobody has huge supplies. In the USA 1 Kg of coke may not even get you a decent car because everyone has it. You would likely have a pretty coke gf and maybe one gold chain at max before having to go get more coke to sell.

    Sometimes they give the people back their 200 cigarettes, and sometimes they say that because the person brought in too many, they automatically forfeit ALL of their cigarettes. It seems to have a lot to do with the person giving them attitude. There was one guy who kept shouting verbal abuse and cursing and saying that he came from EUROPE - Turkey - and thus he could keep like 18,000 cigarettes - shouting this to everyone who came through with him (I'm guessing he was probably bragging to everyone on his tour about the great bargain he got with all those cigs, because he was appealing to other people around about his 'rights' to bring in that many cigarettes because 'Turkey is in Europe', despite the customs officer saying 'Turkey is NOT in the European UNION'). He kept saying he would take the cigarettes and there was nothing the (female) customs officer could do to stop him (tacitly suggesting that he'd physically stop her if she tried to stop him taking the drugs; when a man showed up and backed her up, he stopped acting like he was ready physically to fight her for the cigarettes). That guy got NOTHING and the male customs officer just said, 'You brought in too many and did not declare them, so you lose them all - that's the rules.' But here, if an older woman might cry... she gets back her legal 200 cigarettes.
    I HAVE noticed in life in general that if you could be the age of the official's mother, and the official is male, and you look tearful... it's like they can't disappoint their mum or make her cry, and they will do almost anything they can to avoid causing a mum-like person distress. Of course, the young women are often much more lenient on men, especially if the men flirt a bit. How many times has the supermarket clerk absolutely CLOSED her line for a break, and one guy comes and says, 'Oh, come on love, I just have 14 items,' and she lets him through, but let a woman come and say, 'I just have these nappies,' and she'll say, 'I'm closed. Get in the other line.' I've actually had the clerk tell me, 'I'm closed, go to the other line,' and then as I step away, let some 'flirtatious' man go through. Or she tells me to tell any further customers that she's closed, but one guy raises his voice and says, 'Oh, come on sweetheart!' and he gets through while several others - women - have been turned away.
    Moral: pick the official you go to, if you can. And don't 'milk' your advantage (girls, don't try to use sexiness to manipulate a male - that may backfire because he's fed up with the trick; as a university examiner, any girl who came to viva voce exams in a very small skirt with cleavage showing automatically got a 'freezing' reception from the males on the panel because they knew they were being manipulated - they had been students themselves and heard girls boast about how they got higher marks by using their sexuality).

      @@shopaccount8909 average ratings truly make no sense since you have low, average, then high. So when you say average $8.00 then the low would be $4.00 in the United States and that's nearly impossible. Then you have a high rating which would be double of $8.00 so why is average the mentioned rating for the U.S? To make expensive things seem cheaper? A rating is truly the top off. Not the average. So you picked a high rating for Australia, and England. cool. Then you picked a low rating for Nigeria.
      Then you averaged the United States. Make sense out of that. It's not a poverty rating. So you're belittling Nigeria and the United States while uplifting Ausie and England. Nice try chap.

    Dogs are notoriously bad at drug detection. It is very easy for a trainer to get their dog to give a false hit. It has happened so often here in the states that some cop shops have done away with drug dogs, instead using them for actions like chasing suspects.

    • @HvH420
      @HvH420 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've seen so many times where the dog doesnt do anything but the cop says it gave a positive indication and they use that to be able to search the car or whatever. I'm sure some cops have there trained where they can make a discreet move and the dog will sit down which they then say is the dog detecting drugs. I bet cops love using the dogs regardless if they are accurate or not.
