  • In this fishing video Andrew is in the state of Washington trying to fish for some trout! He was fishing some small creeks and then happened into the biggest fish of his life...
This video follows Andrew over the course of 2 days in Washington. The first day he fishes some small water but doesn't find anything too crazy... he catches a few brook trout and even explores a lake very briefly. There were some decent sized brook trout in both the creek and the lake, but nothing that crazy.
On the second day Andrew explored a few other creeks. The first creek was a complete failure with literally no fish being caught. The second creek was much less of a failure as he was able to net a handful of brook trout pretty quickly. Then as he moved up the creek something caught his eye... and it was HUGE! He sight fished for the massive fish and eventually hooked it, although he was bested by the beast on the first go around. After fishing the creek he decided to fish the same run he had hooked the giant fish in and try another cast. As luck would have it he hooked the same huge fish - or one very similar. After a long fight with his 3 wt he was able to land the fish by some miracle! It ended up being a giant Chinook Salmon taping in at 34 inches.
Chinook salmon live in the ocean and migrate up the creeks and rivers in Washington to spawn every year - in fact many creeks and rivers shut down each fall for the spawn. Apparently this fish was on the move early as it was caught in August, which meant the fish was in good shape. Chinook salmon are the largest Pacific salmon.. growing up to 100 pounds. I'd hate to run into a fish like that in one of these creeks!
We have 3 more videos coming out in this little Washington series before we head to Colorado! I hope you enjoy all of these videos. As always, thanks for watching!
