I can't believe I didn't notice that the whole two different music tracks system was completely removed in 2018.
I remember returning to the game after not playing it for years. I was extremely frustrated when I kept noticing the same song playing everywhere.

You can toggle between the 2018 and the CS2 soundtracks, they gave you separate music kits for them.

@@VuMaki Yeah, the “csgo music kit” in cs2 is the post-panorama music unfortunately. Main reason why it brings back so much nostalgia for me, cause I haven’t heard it since 2017.
The older ones feel like a battle, a fight between two teams, with much glorious sounding instruments.
The newer one feels like a sport, with more electronic type sounds.
Best compared in MVP Anthems.

CS used to be terrorists vs swat and now it feels more and more like R6 Siege's e-sports arena.
Hmm, almost like Valve has made no attempt to hide the focus on eSports at this point in the game's lifecycle. But the problem is, Counter-Strike's setting is not and never has been the Liandi Grand Tournament (no matter how many servers liked to implement the Unreal Tournament announcer as an addon). So there's an obvious art-style clash going on here now.
Needless to say, this game has had a major identity crisis ever since the the insanity over the skin and esports money kicked off.

If you didn't realize that Panorama update changed the soundtrack, it's mostly because Panorama only removed the alternative soundtrack, so it plays the exact same tracks everytime an event happens.
They probably did this to avoid creating multiple tracks for the same event for newer Music Kits (as Kits newer than the Panorama Update have one variants only).

A matter of tastes, the CS2 music kit is like they are introducing you into a kind of a sports tournament where only the best of the best will win, and the big crowd just cheering their team adding to the majesticness and greatness of the event. CSGO kits in the other hand are like if they're introducing you to a story where something is going really wrong and you need to hurry the fuck up to solve it, you can't avoid it, you have to face it.

Pre Panorama soundtracks were perfect fit for CSGO. They were getting me hyped instantly. After they changed it to Panorama Update, CSGO wasn't the same anymore so I started to buy music kits.
Honestly best memories of CSGO are from 2012-2016

I heard you can still hear _most_ of the old music as alternate tracks played in Hostage mode but I haven't confirmed it since I have basically zero reason to play Hostage and last time I did, I had a music kit equipped.
For all I know, they could've removed them entirely from CS2 as the CS:GO music is effectively as much of a music kit as every other one.

imo from 2012-2014 this game was not ready, it starts become really good was from 2015 I think, so yea csgo in 2016 was so fun to play

It's not much of a difference between the two versions
Because it already was there pre-panorama, they just removed the varying soundtracks with panorama so you'd always hear the same
post panorama one was there too it varied between the two depending on maps and teams.
Other one(2012 one) is T side/middle eastern theme used on Dust1 and dust2, idf and elite crew had it usually play, tho it also played on other maps on occassion.

CS 2 music isn't worse, it's just different. And despite the fact that I absolutely love CS:GO music and don't really like the new one, I think that this new music fits CS 2 look better.

yes that is why I hate this new music for counter strike it doesn't fit the war or military operation atmosphere it feel out of place unlike the CSGO music where you feel like it's serious and Ts and CTs are actual enemies the new music just feel like Ts and CTs are having a sport competition they ruining the atmosphere of counter strike for just the few who take the game way to seriously as a sport @@ShadowMar_CZ

I analysed the soundtracks from my point of view and I want to share with you guys what conclusions i have.
2012's Cs-go had a serious soundtrack, it gets you into the professional you are (whether you're a terrorist or an anti-terrorist), the operation must be meticulously planned and all your senses must be alert to any danger that puts the objective of the mission at risk.
Cs-go 2018 is *almost* the same, the difference is that a certain tone of fear is added. Fear either because of the danger that comes with the mission, fear of losing one's life or failure. Personally, this soundtrack would go very well in a movie, it generates tension and uncertainty. Certainly the best soundtrack for the game by far.
The soundtrack of Cs 2 stripped away the seriousness and fear, replacing it with a feeling of competitiveness and something I would classify as "cool". It feels more like you're the hero, the soundtrack is more like YOUR soundtrack, it makes you feel like the protagonist.
NOTHING beats the pre-panorama MVP anthem.
Makes you wanna unload whole clip into the sky in celebration xd

As someone who first played CSGO in around 2013-2014 and absolutely loves the original soundtracks, I still think the CS2 soundtrack is undoubtedly pretty awesome too

As a player from 2015, I can confirm that half of the original soundtrack has been removed. The old CSGO has full music kit, upon panorama update in 2018 they removed half of them or even more. For instance the bomb planted music you hear in post panorama is actually the bomb theme for CT side in pre panorama.
The bomb theme pre panorama here is for T side, name "Defending the bombsite".
Music did play for both sides on some maps tho. It was for IDF and Elite crew ao played on dust and dust2, but not exclusively. I also miss helicopter flying off like on dust1 or aztec. Valve really ruined CSGO over time...
New CS original track is a banger, since the first trailer I thought it was a cool theme but exclusive to the trailers, and now that CS2 is here, listening to it on repeat everywhere while playing the game is cool.

I did use a music kit for so long, that I didnt even knew they replaced the entire music with the Panorama Update. The first kit I have ever used was "Sail" which I bought in 2015 or 2016 and I think right before the Panorama update came I switched to "Lifes not out to get you" so I didnt play without a kit anymore. In the 2018 or 2019 I started to play with a second account because of friends and for me the music from the panorama felt so normal. I have used a kit for so long, that I forgot the old music. Crazy to me that I ONLY remember the old MVP sound, I really forgot about all other sounds. Im also not sure when I started to turn off all music besides the MVP so Im not sure how long I have heard the music in general.

They done it to make it into e-sport the game. Old CSGO was meant to be gritty, depressing and dramatic. I miss T side music variants(tho it played for both teams on some maps like dust 1 and 2) and hate valve for removing it.

There are so many great things about og and panorama soudtracks that made me have a nostalgia about all good moments. But now I think the best soundtrack for cs2 is "shooters". Under that graphics and modernization, it just fits.

old music is gone probably because valve didn't realize and accidentally removed them during making of panorama UI and then completely forget about it.
for odd reason after cs2 release, in legacy csgo there's music kit with no picture, if you equip it you get both music back.

it's funny to think how when CSGO first launch, people really hates how lound the main theme + other tracks is, but after valve switch to new theme and people started to complaining it doesn't fit CS, also describe how they miss the old one while they literally muted the main theme most of the time in GO, lol.
Those songs from the "panorama update" were already there, i have a Xbox 360 version of the game to confirm.
I haven't seen anyone mention the fact that the tracks used to be divided between hostage rescue and bomb defusal (probably because no one plays hostage rescue). The "pre-panorama" tracks played in hostage rescue and the "panorama" tracks played in bomb defuse. After the panorama update, the original bomb defuse tracks played in both game modes.
