Check it out when you can! Bring a buddy, it’s always safer to fish with one especially in these spots c: the scarier the spot the better the fishing I always think but you always wanna make sure you and everyone with you is safe c:
@@SvenGoesFishing good words of wisdom, I actually Cramped up Saturday while fishing! Was super dehydrated, bent over for my life and had back spazzems. Was terrible! your right about keeping safe and healthy so you can fish more. But I’m back in good health now. 👍

Besides general safety and fishing buddy system in remote ish places, I always try to remind people to make sure to bring water and snacks, especially if the session is going to be long. I remember the time I forgot my supplies and same as you, the trek back was terrible 😂
That’s the thing for palos verdes, you kinda just have to venture out there and see where you can get down XD the only big thing I would say is that if you’re hunting down spots, make sure you double check with an MPA map so that you don’t head on down to a place you can’t fish D:!
Man i was just here ealier today and lowtide was no good! Snagged 3 times in 10 mins.... Lol gave up since i didnt bring enough tackle to last the whole day since i snagged more than i thought! The hike back up was TREACHEROUS!!!
Oh yeah the hike back up is rough, especially after a long day of fishing 😂 learned that the hard way the first time for sure lolol. It is unfortunately very snaggy there :( torpedo sinkers or Carolina rigs would be the best option for next time :D!

Hi RBW, I did a little checking up on legislation just to make sure I didn't done goof along the way. The area we were fishing is up north pass the Point Vicente State Marine Conservation Area (which allows no fishing or take of anything) so we were in the clear. There is no other MPA besides the Point Dune State Marine Reserve (also can't do any fishing or take) which is even wayyyyy more up north past Malibu. Unless you have some legislation that I was unable to find by chance, fishing is legal there. Now regards to spearing, that spot does look pretty phenomenal to dive and spearfish :D I might check it out one day if I ever get into diving haha
I did also look up the Abalone Cove SMCA (which does allow spearfishing of certain species but not fishing), if it helps we weren't anywhere near there too c:

What size hooks are you guys using? Looks fun
I mainly like to use size 6 hooks, perfect size for surfperch and such, strong enough to handle slightly bigger catches c: size 4 is also a good one!

What's that spot call? I would like to give it a go. Never been to Palos Verde so not sure how to access the beach, looks like a lot of cliffs.

Most of Palos Verdes is a nature preserve, im guessing they dont bother you
As long as you’re fishing in a spot that isn’t restricted, most they would do is a license check 😁

Try a slip bobber with a split shot to keep the bait down in spots like that works pretty good
