- Me and my brother Monte beat on the big block 68 Chevelle during a nice summer cruise... we nail the gas and get on it all over the road, burnout and cheer the USA

👂🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽👍🏽😎🏁🏁🏁 Outstanding!!
I had a 68 L78 Chevelle triple black when I was 18 ran C/MP. Now at 72 I wish I had that car back but thanks to the keepers who keep these cars alive, I thank you.
Better than any LS.
This video made me smile from ear to ear. I drive a 68 Camaro with the same setup, and you drive yours like I drive mine. Killing them tires. Love it!
Nice! Nothing like nailing the gas pedal on a bbc!!
Love that sound
I enjoyed the hell out of this video. 496 is my favorite motor
Hard to beat that sound!
Nice. Properly bagging this car
Wow I am impressed
Crackling witch? More like wicked warlock, that car is a beast, awesome ...
Nice ride. I have a black 68' SS Chevelle too, and with a 496. They are beasts !
I enjoyed your video
J
Right on!
Fuck YEAH!!!!!! 496!!!!!
Bad ass chevelle
496 - the best Big Block ever created
I love them but in terms of best big block, sheesh gotta be the 602ci 1000hp all motor monster
Or maybe it’s like 950 either way it’s wayyyyy too much, I’m going to by a 1980 Camaro with a 496ci trans brake and I believe 2500 stall with I wanna say minor body damage but I have to paint it for sure
Nope, that would be a 606
@@AmazingBlaze0 Thats like a stock s10 stall speed
Car has good pick up
Stroked 454!
Not sure about a 496, but I wouldn't mind having a 489 in my 85 C30 dually.
What size carb and initial and total timing you got that monster set on?
The carb is a 4150, holley 950hp. The timing is at 12 initial and 34 all in. The cam is installed with 2 degrees advance also
What gears do you have in the rearend?
3.08's
@@oftheruin Thought so...T400?
Had those in my 67 El...no need for overdrive
what transmission do you have? that is a awesome car.
It is a th400- has a hurst pro-matic 2 ratchet shifter
@@oftheruin what rear end ratio
@@snake6947 it is a 10 bolt chevy rear with 3.08 gears, summit axles, a mini spool and c-clip eliminators
@@oftheruin Is that a 10 bolt 8.2 or 8.5?
@@rodolfomolina3397 it is just an 8.2 is all.
Hey did you build it , I need some help with mine
What do you need help with on your big block bro?
I can help you as much as i can as far as questions and stuff let me know what youre wondering id be glad to share what i know
What’s the cam specs on it? Thing sounds beastly
I will find the exact info as soon as i can find it in my stuff, but its a comp mutha thumper hydraulic roller. Dual pattern with lot of duration
Did you ever find the cam specs, also what’s your compression ?
Ok, so it is a comp cams thumpr part # 11-600-8. You can check it out online. I have comp hydraulic roller lifters and comp ultra pro magnum 1.6 rockers
9.2 to 1 compression
Thanks so much for the response !!! Lastly what heads and fuel system are you running ???
What’s that exhaust set up? I have a 496 in my chevelle and want a raspy crisp sound like that!
So, the exhaust is from summit. It is a 3" flowmaster dual pipe kit for 68- 72 a body cars. It came as only a header-back kit with a cross pipe but no mufflers. The mufflers are 3 inch inlet/outlet Summit mufflers and they were just called Summit "fully welded mufflers". They did not come in the Flowmaster pipe kit. The rear pipes go over the axle just like factory, but bigger which clears on my car pretty well. The mufflers are also in the stock location. I believe the kit was on sale for under 200 when i got mine and the mufflers were like 50 bucks each. The expensive part is the headers which for a big block youre looking at $650 and up. Mine are 1 7/8" hooker super comp long tube headers with 3" collectors.
Awesome thanks man. I have my hooker headers installed already just trying to find out what exhaust set up I want!
Cool man good luck!
@@christophercannon4605 also i would say to make sure whatever 3" tube kit you get is mandrel bent so it has full flow, and definitely put in the cross pipe
What kind of exhaust are you running?
Hooker 1 7/8 super comp. long tube headers w 3" collectors, 3" dual pipes with crossover and 3" in/out summit fully welded mufflers, 3 inch over axle pipes out the back all routed same as stock
I just built one for my 67 Camaro…what is your parts list?
Well it has a stock 454 block bored 60 over align honed and decked to 0... forged 1/4" stroker crank from RPM, forged RPM i beam rods and probe pistons with the pins up high into the ring pack. Edelbrock performer rpm 6045 alum heads with comp hydraulic roller cam, comp roller lifters and comp ultra pro magnum roller rockers. Edelbrock performer rpm air gap intake, holley 950hp double pumper and an MSD super hei distributor. It has a turbo 400 with a 34 sprag conversion new clutch packs and modified stock valvebody. Has a Hurst promatic2 ratchet shifter. Rear end is a 10 bolt with 3.08's a mini spool and aftermarket oem style summit axles. Has hooker super competition 1 7/8 primary 3 inch headers into a full 3 inch flowmaster exhaust all the way out the back and a cross-pipe. Summit 3 inch Fully Welded mufflers
@@oftheruin I'm building a 65 el camino 496 love the way the car idles could i get the cam part number. Thanks awesome car.
@@johnboy9769 hi- i will look in my stuff for the exact info, but its a comp cams mother thumper, ill put the number here when i find it
@@johnboy9769 its a comp cam 11-600-8 good luck with your project man!!
3.73 rear?
3.08 hiway gear!
I see a lot of guys running a 496 with a tall cowl. Would you have been able to fit this under a 2”
I dont know, i think so, depends on your intake and motor mounts i guess
You running this on 91 or higher?
Yes, only 91 or higher
pure murder
i have same engine... beats all gay cars as mine i true old muscle....will sell also if a buyer 18000 miles on a 496 stroker does 7 second 1/8 mile
Just what we need, another nerd on the street.
Oh ok are there too many of you already? Ill go be a nerd over here then! Fuck off
Nothing wrong with the way the driving. As you can see it's not many people on the road. I wish our highways were like that. Too many liberal nerds 🤓 here🤣
Whats your 0-60 and 1/4 mile time?
I dont have any official times. Id like to put a line lock on the car and i need a helmet for the track by me, but im hoping to collect a few more items and get there soon
