  • A moving coil galvanometer works on the principle that a current-carrying coil placed in a magnetic field, experiences a torque. The coil springs along with the radial field ensure the deflection to be proportional to the strength of the current.

      I couldn't... The magnetic field isn't even going through the coil...

      @@yashmal1k No... That's not how it works...
      We pass currently through the coil and hence the coil starts acting as a magnet... And this coil is placed in between two poles of a different magnet... So it turns (since unlike poles attract)...

    Much appreciated.. but didn't get the last part.. you've make the other field lines invisible except the one acting in parallel to the coil.. But what about the other field lines, aren't those making an angle with the coil when it turns? If not, why and how?

    Sir, why would the field line touching (in line with) the coil only produce a torque on it? why not the other radial field lines; they are also at some angle to the coil, right? pleaseee reply, id be so grateful.
