    These mechanisms were called D’ Arsanvall, we learned about them more than 50 years ago. I remember some of these that were so delicate that despite being mechanical could trace currents of micro amps, while not in use they had to be shortened to avoid any induced voltage that might harm them.
    I remember my poor teacher the day the first digital electronic meter was introduced at schools, I’m sure it shortened his life
