It hasn't gone away. and you might notice the extremely small corridor between said river and ukrainian-held territory through which Russia squeezed about 50.000 troops + the mechanized support they can still scrape from the bottom of the barrel. Which are now in that bulge supplied only through said corridor surrounded by ukrainians on all sides + the river with that tiny little corridor the only opening. That might give you an idea why Ukraine is pushing in reinforcements. It was never this easy in this war to trap so many russians at once.
Speaking of Russia encircling Ukraine, I have noticed that Russia always leaves a small corridor for Ukranians to retreat be it Avdivka, Ugledhar or Kursk in this case. Which I think is brilliant, Russians try to maximize the damage to the retreating Ukrainians. There is no use of capturing that many POWs, that is going up to use up Russia's resources. Russia already has a surplus in the count of POWs. Ukraine plays in Russia's hand by using the small corridor to retreat everytime.

The point of Kursk was diversion, but if Ukraine waants to encircle Russians then they would need more number of troops than the Russians present, which would defeat the purpose of the offensive.
if you dont count grey area which russians normally include as their controlled territory. its about 30 percent. just go look at the map its not half. its about 1200 square km to about 950 sq kilometers. its no where near 600 square km as you implying.

Вот ты говоришь, что русские перебрасывают туда войска... но мы как видели там те же самые подразделения русских, так и продолжаем их видеть... а всу все подкидывают новые и выводят на восстановление потрепанные... В чем смысл? Захват Пятерочки в Судже? Это единственный "значимый" объект, который удалось захватить всу... Просто для сравнения... Можно взять пример Северска, где небольшими силами, всу удерживает позиции года два и русские пока так и не нашли способ переломить ситуацию. А укрепрайон на Белой горе, уже стал таким же бельмом на глазу русских, как Угледар. Который в общем-то так и не смогли взять... Город пал, только после того как русские обошли его по полям... Обходили долго и с потерями... и возможно и не обошли бы... если бы всу не сунулись в Суджу... Пара бригад в помощь 72-й и 79-й бригаде и всу там еще год могли держаться, пока русские бы не стерли в пыль Константиновку и Угледар... как это было с Марьинкой, Спорным и некоторыми другими населенными пунктами, где оборона всу была хорошо организована.

И снова мы видим ситуацию, когда всу не отступили вовремя и теперь выходят пешком, побросав технику и вооружение... и несут потери в личном составе от 50 до 75% личного состава... Как говорится, что и требовалось доказать...
