I know it was a year ago, but Ridley’s roars in Super Metroid were stock Anguirus roars. This is very common in this game. In fact, Mother Brain’s roars were pitchshifted Mothra cries.
How dose anyone think thats a cool roar? Ridley is supposed to sound like a god if death not a 16 year old girl that just messed up her makeup

Allow me to explain Ridley's life and how he kept coming back:
Metroid NES/Zero Mission: Ridley is taken out by Samus
Metroid Prime: Ridley's body is recovered and revived with a cybernetic body, robocop style. He is defeated but not killed, just severely wounded.
Metroid Prime 3: Ridley is back with a new, Phazon infused body (Dark Samus gets her power from phazon). He still suffers the chest wound from Prime 1, which is his downfall, and is killed.
Metroid Samus Returns: Taking place much later, Ridley's scientists have almost perfected their technique in reviving him, and he returns with relatively few cybernetic parts. He is defeated, but escapes before he can be killed.
Super Metroid: Ridley has completely recovered. He is killed by Samus and any and all traces of him are annihilated by the destruction of planet Zebes. This is Ridley's true and final death.
Other M: This is just a clone of Ridley that the Galactic Federation secretely made from cell tissue that got on Samus's suit during her battle with him. It gets killed by the Queen Metroid.
Metroid Fusion: Ridley's Clone's body is kept in cold storage and infected by X-parasites, making a sort of "zombie ridley". Samus kills it.
So basically; Ridley keeps getting resurrected and/or enhanced by someone or something just for Samus to kill him again and again.
What's Mecha Ridley then?
Spectral a robot, an actual robot built to look like him
Ridley actually never died.. hes brought to the brink.. but no he never dies..and judging by ridley is here in smash as a playable i can see him coming back again after fusion and this time samus is hunted by the federation.. i wonder how shes going to take it that there destiny is far more intertwined then you think..
in the end i think that the two will be given a chance to undo the bad and corrupted.. thats my theory
But what about pinball Ridley?
If Ridley's remains are unrecoverable after the explosion in Super Metroid, why is this not the case after the explosion in the original Metroid? It's not like the planet got eradicated in Super Metroid, it's still there in Fusion.

Even better, he's a pterodactyl AND a dragon at the same time. He's the ultimate apocalypse. Where Markus Heitz' Dwarves books mention the Cordrion, I instantly imagined that beast to be just like Ridley. (Did those books even get localized outside of Germany?)

Nice to see Ridley has finally gone on to join everyone in Smash, and be an original Metroid rep.
He’s my favorite main to play as next to Kirby & Piranha Plant as well Mr G & M.

I kinda don't like playing heavy or slow characters, but I do like the fact that he's in. There's something about fighting him I really like. Hopefully his presence doesn't steer modders away from porting Brawl's custom Ridleys though, I'm really looking forward to trying to fight Ultimate Ridley, Project Meme Ridley and Legacy XP Ridley all at the same time.
Wish fire emblem would take a hint and add someone who isn’t a sword protagonist or at least not a shameless ad for a game that wasn’t out before said character was picked for development

That will always be my favorite ridly fight. Both arial and ground combat and just how good the model looks for a GameCube title game. I absolutely love that fight

@@Tactical_wulf5.56 I'm not sure what you talking about(what attack is he doing?), I'm mostly bothered by how little damage you do when you hit him, which annoys me because Ridley likes to spam the jump wave thing. The first phase with the flying around is also annoying.

The Meta Ridley fight in Prime is by far my favorite. The scale of the fight was truly epic. Metroid Prime was ahead of its time and is to this day one of my favorite games ever

im a Noah hunter plus, though it is non cannon And I can’t recall this from my memories, I looked a lot different back in the first Metroid game. I was about the size of samus, the color blue, and had 8 eyes and a bug like mouth, I was referred to as an it and was completely controlled by mother brain. I am glad that is non cannon.

What do you expect from a game where you can freeze actual fireballs?
The battle in Super Metroid is very stressful, because both he and Samus are tanks and can take a lot of damage. He makes sure every single super missel counts. MetaRiddley is a close second. And in Prime 3, he becomes the boss of the Leviathan itself, like Metroid Prime and the Emperor Ing. Truly, he is extremely effective in telling everything you need to know about him on the gameplay.

YO!!! Ridley is such BADASS character in the Metroid franchise! Not only is Ridley a Giant Purple Pterodactyl with massive wings and an elongated spiky tail that is really sharp and super sharp claws AND can breath fire from his mouth PLUS shoot a beam from his mouth also! But he also a SPACE PIRATE!!! As in he has his own Pirate Crew, In space! PLUS, Claims he can eat the flesh of humans to regrow cells, Which means he has regeneration!!! ALSO, Ridley has died before, but he has been resurrected into MANY forms of himself! First it is the original Ridley that Samus has to fight. than afterwards in another game you meet Robot Ridley! Than after that, he returns again as Cyborg Meta Ridley. Than he gets ressurected by Dark Samus and currupted by The phason, THAN afterwards, returns INTO Omega Ridley!!! Oh yeah, There is also a clone of Ridley too made within the Galactic Federation called the "Ring Leaders"!!
So yeah, I really Love Ridley and how badass this wicked character is. He is so complex and in depth. So That is why I find him so cool.

Ridley is one aggressive flying beast. Any version of him will stop at nothing to get in Samus’ way for a death battle. He looked totally different in the first Metroid which was like a rough draft. Ridley and Samus resemble with the Xenomorph alien vs Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) in Alien. Alien was no doubt an inspiration to the makers of the Metroid games by having a dark and sinister tone, a sci-fi theme, a female protagonist, and a monster named after director Ridley Scott that looked somewhat similar to the Xenomorph alien. Then of course the metroids were like the face huggers.

Boy you were eating those Meta Ridley dashes for breakfast lunch and dinner. Nice showcase of how well Prime did on-hit effects, though. Makes getting your ass kicked feel super immersive.
God damn... When I was 7, when I first heard Neo-Ridley/Ridley-X's roar, I muted my GBA & didn't turn the sound back on until I had to fight the Core-X. Sh*t scared me for god knows how long, good thing I'm over it now.
Why does Samus Returns Ridley seem the most "Ridley"?
Because that's Metroid 2. Thats a Ridley fresh out of revivification. Thats the original Ridley.

Ridley (M1) > Meta Ridley > omega Ridley > proteus ridley > Ridley (M3)

It’s a blink and you’ll miss it moment, but that is detail and love that RetroStudios put in. How many games even today have that feature? Most recent game that I can recall is DOOM: Eternal and that game just finished coming out! RetroStudios was WAY ahead of their time. I can’t wait to see what they’ll do when Metroid Prime 4 comes out!

One might argue that adding the fight at all was a mistake story-wise, but it really is an epic fight. Generally, I have very few complaints about the game.

I know most people liked that they didn't force Ridley into Metroid Dread, but here's my pitch anyway. In the scene towards the end where Samus reaches a lab full of cloned specimens in large containers, Samus looks in horror at a clone of Ridley sleeping in one of those. Samus destroys the lab killing the Ridley clone (or does she?) and is then attacked by the red EMMI. So finally after Samus going super sayan and Raven Beak Defeated, the X that attacks Raven Beak is not Kraid but that of Ridley's clone.
