Really??? You couldn’t even alphabetize everything for us 😅 Thx for all the work you did here. Hopefully there’s plenty of us who can never get enough of these comprehensive effect demos, overviews and deep dives with your tasteful playing. Sounds better than ever as it should by now with all the work you put in over the years. Thx again for sharing everything.
Man, you such a great musician and geek of sound...i discovered your channel when i was searching for TC electronic G-force videos. I'm on the fences beetween the FM9 and TMP or maybe QC...you are really helpful ! Thanks mate.
Kudos on your excellent playing and obvious mastery of the Fractal. It would take weeks of full-time study for me to get up to speed on that unit. I think I'll be standing pat on my modest pedal board and combo amp.
After having studied the world of recording a little more, to understand the manipulations, interactions between all these parameters (amps, cabs, IR etc...fx pedals) I believe that the purchase of the FM3 was one of my good purchases . Long term use will be very useful to me. I'm not a professional musician but, home studio, live, reamp, he's my new friend. I already have the fx2xl axis and I think I wasn't ready...because now, I no longer struggle to make a guitar sound. Thank you Leon for everything you made me understand. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Leon you are amazing…just when I was at a point where I thought the Axe Fx III was too much for me you come out with this awesome video. Simple, effective, and got me back on track. I literally stopped your video dozens of times so I could take notes. Well done and thank you! PS: That Stratocumulus reverb is pure sweetness!
To answer your original question Leon, I would love in depth info on each effect, I particularly liked how you touched on different amp/cab types with the effects blocks, as the use varies etc. I enjoy seeing the tweaking sure, but the why to tweak a setting and for what application is really key, thanks!
I've said it before: I love my Helix, but the Fractal universe is just an alternate reality. Wonderful tones. I'd love to see you do something like this with the Helix sometime.
Love your in-depth and deep dives into the Fractal stuff and yes I would probably watch a run through of all the effects. Would also really appreciate sounds which are in between the heavy rock stuff you play and the ultra clean amp settings you use. Some chordal indie / edge of break-up sounds would be great. Thx.
Wow, best video yet! This might end up being THE definitive FM9/AFX demo video. I know you’re extremely generous with your work, but are all of those blocks on the forum? I don’t think I’ve seen them all. If they’re not, would you be so kind as to share them?
13:35 LOVE that amazing clean tone, it is so close to maybe being used as an emulated 12 string guitar sound. Here is a Challenge come up with a 12 preset that can get that BYRDS/BEATLES sound that they had in the 60's 12 string SOUND with 6 string instrument like a RICK 12 string. Can LEON do it, I bet he Can !!!!
This was a great overview of all kinds of different effects I didnt even know how to utilize on my FM9, well done! Maybe you could spend more time going deeper into the order of things in the signal chain? i.e. why you would ever choose to place an effect before an amp vs after, etc. Cheers dude
@@krisskross6846 Nice. It's a fine modeler. JUst hope you gel with the UI- if not, you have time to send it back or play it a few months and sell it. You won't lose money. You might get frustrated with the UI. You can pay $99 for a 15+ hour course by Cooper Carter...to learn how to use it. For $1800 that training should be included IMHO.
IMO it makes trully sense to buy such an advanced multiFX unit of this kind when you've reached this level of understanding of FX texturing mastery that Leon display here in this stunning demonstration of the FM9's workhorse capability 🚀 not many playas out there have reached this degree of mastery 🎖once you have watched this, what do you need more to be convinced ? 🤔
Everytime you do anything with the AXE-FX I hear something that I have to go try.👍 ME: death metal, death metal, death metal LEON: check out this reverb ME: oh that is nice
Wow.. That clean with the coil tapped is awesome, and the clean with the reverb up and sounds like caverns or something was awesome too! Very cool, and of course I love the more is more gain! Can't get enough.. What a cool chorus on the clean.. The chunk with the gain / dirty with the ozzy was perfect sounding brother! Very cool. Just cool tones brother. That axeFx rocks.. Very cool tones brother.. As always.. So, is the FM 3 older than the FM9? Or are they both ax3's? I'm confused because I see fm3's much cheaper lately on Reverb, and the FM9's way up there.. Interesting.. Thanks man.. Be well my friend. God speed sir!
Man Leon I know this was 10 months ago but im really sold on the fractal ,can you do alot of these voicings on the FM3? Im going to have to hide this purchase from you know who ,but im torn between going all out for the FM9 or start out with the FM3
How wide You think/now/tested You can go with enchancer for live gig to be stereo as much as You can? Is the enchancer better than TC electronic Mimiq? Thanks for great sample sounds!
It's a 6 row grid and you can route blocks freely, so it's more flexible in that regard. There's no analog dry thru since there's amp and drive modeling
FM9 is indeed great but the UI desperately needs an overhaul IMHO. Editing on the unit is a bit of a nightmare. Opening up a laptop to make some simple changes (on the fly, on unit changes are fun), is simply not convenient on any Fractal product. The desktop editor is fine. I just find it a little too, unecessarily complicated which takes some of the fun out of it. Yes, you can dial in 10 presets and be done with it but others have much more user friendly UI's. I hope they catch up. Tonewise, Fractal is king but QC, Helix, even Ampero II ($400 w/touchscreen!) have far better on unit editing capabilities. My cheap NUX MG30 was a dream to edit on unit. No touchscreen like QC or Ampero but everything was where you would expect it to be. Many parameters could be changed quickly and easily in one or two actions. I get it. Fractal FM9 is far more complex. Right. Well, then at start-up, give us the option of opening up instance A. (Simple) or B. Deep diving. Most non-pro's would enjoy a simpler experience IMHO. Still a great unit. I look forward to seeing what the new platform will look like. I suspect it is coming. No way they will let Neural and Line6 beat them on the UI front for long...or at least I hope not.
How many of you would sit through a video covering every single effect type next?
I definitely would.
For sure 100%
Well I do have some down time. I might have to break it up and days. Lol
Me!
I just did!👍
You're the reason I got my FM9 Turbo. 🙂 I love fiddling about with sounds and the Fractal is endless fun.
So glad to hear you're enjoying it. It's like getting the keys to the toy store!

I love that you explain things in details. Learnt so much from your videos about shaping the tone. Keep it up.
Happy to hear that!
Fantastic video Leon, a lot of work and much appreciated. By the way I sat through it all 🎸🙏

Fantastic as always, because of all your instructional Video's I did not ever have to read the manual 🙃

Such a good video, got a lot of ideas from this, thanks Leon!
Glad it was helpful!
Love the Dual Delay, the main one I use. I love running the feedback on Delay #2 negative to phase reverse that side. Mega wide!
Great trick hey!
Great fun! I could spend all day on my FM3 just exploring like this….
9:27-9:30 Nice quote from Quarterflash’s “Harden My Heart”.

So much useable tones in just those three amp channels. The USA lead gain had me Metallica riffing instantly. Sounds super close imo!
Yeah that amp model is so tight and rewarding - then you crack the fat switch and it's a smooth lead machine!

They're all part of the current "generation" of fractal units, so they share the same amp/fx algorithms. FM9 came out a little after the FM3 though.
That is one majestic looking handle bar stache.
Lemmy tribute?

Yeah FM3 will run these! If you can stretch for the FM9 though it's a no compromise powerhouse!
Facial hair for the win :)
What is the rest of your rig you are using? Amp, Speaker cab, etc.
Se eu comprar uma Fractal, nunca mais saio de casa kkkk

Absolutely

the bible of fractal
Epic!
Can you use 2 different amps at the same time on the FM9 and blend the sound together or is that only with the AXE-III unit?
Yes, you can do that with the FM9 too.
Hi Leon. My apologies. Again, yes that would be great.
No harmoniser? Something similar to Boss PS-6?
Yeah there is, in the pitch block. I've got a few videos on it
Thank you. I'll go check it out @@LeonTodd
Can the fender tone master pro keep up?
Is there a BBE maximizer style effect?
No but it's easy to replicate with a PEQ block. See the Plague Scythe Studios BBE video for the settings.
