Aluminum Foil Meets Embossing Folders!

- Everyone uses aluminum foil in their kitchens, but did you know you can use it in your cardmaking too? I show how to emboss foil to make beautiful backgrounds or stunning design elements. You can use any embossing folder, not just the ones that look like metal plates. In my video, I show how I make the foil embossed pieces; even die cut shapes! As always, there are plenty of card samples to inspire you to give this a try.

Wow, wow, wow! You’re giving me lots of ideas…
So glad to have inspired you!!!!
Greetings from your neighbor just north in Cleveland. This is beautiful! I make about 30 cards a month and have not seen this before. I'm heading to the kitchen for some foil and will do this later today. Thank you for a different technique!
I lived in Cleveland while we were waiting for our house to be built (in the Flats, right on the river and loved it)! Where are you? So happy I could introduce a new technique to such an experienced card maker! If you ever want to join us down south for a card class, let me know!

Thanks they were all great making a list of cards when back on feet foil is top x
Hope it’s soon!
Love the last one but would try a different coloured cardstock
I agree but I am not sure what color works best - maybe black for a nice contrast.
I will definitely try this! Thank you!
Thanks for watching more of my videos! I hope you enjoy the foil embossing - it is fun!
First time o your channel. Love this technique, that you for sharing 😊
So glad you found me! Have fun trying this technique and I hope you watch some more!
Greetings from Australia! I'm not sure if someone mentioned it already as I'm not going to read all the comments, but you wanted to know the song on the Merry Melody 3D Embossing folder? The song is Joy to the World and it's written for a 4 part choir to sing but can also be played on piano/organ or harp. Thanks for the video. Funny I bought a roll of adhesive aluminum tape from the hardware store just the other day for this very purpose! I bought a 2.5" roll as that was all I saw.
How great is that? Nobody has told me the song - would it be bad to use it at non Christmas times? You must be musical- do you sing or play or both? What part of Australia? I have friend who live on the east coast, but I’ve only visited the west coast (Perth and south). I would love to visit more!! Glad you liked the video and thanks for taking the time to comment.
@shireetropix360 - Thank you for the information on the music notes on the embossing folder. I have saw where people asked in comments & I have never saw any responses as to what the music actually was. Thank you for taking the time to respond. That is very nice to know. 💕🌻
I am on the east coast. You have SU's permission to use the embossing folder on any card you make and most people wouldn't know what the song was. If it helps any, the card on the website is upside down so neither did they I guess!@@thepowerofacard2227
😭😲
@thepowerofacard2227 I love this technique, I need to use it more often. Tfs your cards!
But, I don't think it would bad at all to use this folder on non-Christmas cards& projects. I haven't seen many embossing folders with songs on it. Just the music notes gives a suggestion that it is musical theme, no matter what it sounds like.☺️
I have cut up a pieces of scrapbook paper that has notes on it, have no idea what the song is, I just wanted to make embellishments that have notes on them, to make cards for the musical people in my life.😊 Better than cutting up actual music sheets.
Wow! First time I've seen foil embossed - so effective! I absolutely love your cards. Terrific ideas, thanks so much for sharing and the inspiration! Cheers, Dotty 😊
Hey Dotty! Thanks so much and I’m glad I could teach you something new! Have fun making embossed foil - share on my Facebook group so I can see!
Thanks. I've used aluminum coke cans in my folders at times❤❤
Never tried that - now, I might have to! I appreciate you watching and sharing more ideas!
Loved this video thank you,
So glad you enjoyed it! Hope you watch some of my others. 😉
I would have thought 3D embossing folder would tear foil. Apparently not.
Beautiful cards!
Thank you so much. It does work better with heavy duty foil but I’ve been quite successful with just regular! Hope you give it a try.
Oh and I love how you decorate your envelopes!
Thank you! I always love that little extra step - makes getting it in the mail even better!

Always prefer double mats
I love double or even triple mats. I used to do that a lot when I scrapbooked.
Use it also, its great!!! Heavy foil
You’re right - heavy foil is better. Thanks!
Karen - Hello - it is very nice to meet you virtually on you tube. I have used foil & done a few embossed cards before. But I had not done any for years. I actually had for got about them. That was years ago before I ever heard about Stampin Up. They are fun & they look nice. Your cards are lovely & that ribbon with the silver thread edge looks great with the silver foil. That ribbon is beautiful. Great colors & nice ribbon. Thank you for sharing these lovely cards with everyone . Have a great upcoming weekend. 👏👏👏💕🌻

First-time viewer to this channel, I just paused the video at 3:11 seconds in to say that I just subscribed to the channel because not only am I really interested in the ingenious idea of using aluminum foil with embossing folder but I LOVE that the creator is showing/telling us in detail exactly what materials and dimensions she is using for this project
Wow! That is such high praise! I feel very honored and thankful. I really hope you enjoy some of my other videos too. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me.
Soda cans are also a great medium to emboss. You have to cut off the top and bottom to get a flat piece of can to work with. I just poke it with a scissors and begin cutting,
Yes - someone else said they did this too! That idea is new to me, so it's one I'll have to try!
First time watching from Fort Wayne Indiana

All your cards are fantastic!!! I love them All❤️❤️❤️
I really appreciate that! I hope you check out some of my other videos too - I’ve made a lot of cards over the years to inspire people.
I use my xyron machine to apply the sticky to my paper before applying the foil. This makes it more uniform
I don’t have one of those. How often do you use it? I thought it was mainly for making stickers, but it sounds like you use it more for general all-over adhesive. I might have to look into getting one - thanks for the tip.
nice technic thankyou

These are super cute. Alcohol ink colors foil instantly, and dries super quick. Lots of colors available too.
Someone else suggested that - I will have to try it. Way better than waiting for the stazon to dry! Thanks for liking my cards!

Beautiful cards. Could probably use some alcohol markers for different colors too. Great designs. I like to decorate my envelopes, but hadn't tried embossing the flaps, but will in the future!
Thanks! I did try Blends but they wiped off. Others have suggested alcohol inks but I haven’t tried that. Glad you like the cards and I hope you watch some of my other videos too.

Hi Karen!! New subscriber here from Florida 🏝️. Love your foil technique, I will trying that soon. Can you demo how to embossed the envelope flap? Do you have a video showing it? I feel like I am going to learn allot from your channel. TFS! Hugs. Gloria 🥰🧡
Welcome to my channel Gloria! I don’t have a video of that but I will try to incorporate that soon. All you have to do is put the flap in the embossing folder and run the folder sideways through your machine. It’s not ideal because you normally want the fold to go first, but it is ok. I hope you enjoy all my videos - I have plenty!! Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself!
Hello again Gloria - took your advice and made a video showing how to emboss the flap! Check it out!

👍👍👍👍❤LOVE ALL THE CARDS!! and love the idea with aluminum foil. Want to go do a bunch right now. Thanks for Sharing. Saving this too. Ty
I am so pleased! Thank you for taking the time to send me your comment - it warms my heart!
I haven’t used foil in many years. Thanks for the reminder!
Good to remember those oldies but goodies!
Alcohol ink also colors the foil. Foiled wrapping paper which comes in many colors and patterns also works(I use leftovers from wrapping gifts). It is paper-backed and the edges must be glued down, not just folded. Thanks-enjoyed the variety of cards!
Ooh, I have some of that! Will have to fig my paper out early! I will also try coloring with alcohol inks. Thanks for the tips and I am glad you liked the variety of cards.
Lovely technique with the foil. I wonder if you could change the colour of the foil with alcohol inks, either before or after embossing. Experiment time. Thanks.
Thank you Donna! I did try using my blends markers but that didn’t really work. If you have success with alcohol inks, let me know!
