Sunrise? Break it into two eras: The pre-bandai sale and post-bandai sale. Pre-bandai (back when they were also known as Nippon Sunrise): One of the greatest animation studios ever. So many classics came out of Sunrise, and they basically gave Tomino his entire career. Post-Bandai sale: Bandai, being a massive company, using Sunrise just to make money. Early Bandai-era sunrise had some decent stuff like Gundam X and turn a gundam, also Overman King Gainer (although I havent watched this Tomino series yet). However, what Sunrise/Bandai Namco Pictures has become is nothing more than a generic studio that doesnt really do anything to push the standard at all. I will admit though, even though i hate CG shows as much as I do, they have done more to make CG look smooth in animation than Satelight has. If Macross is completely thrown over to Sunrise, I fear for the franchise, but as long as Kawamori doesnt fuck it up and make something as lame as the Delta tv series/First delta movie was, this could be a good thing. I dont have a lot of hope though.
