  • In this video PJ walks through the set-up of an Airforce Escape UL precharged pneumatic air rifle going from Box to Bench to give you an idea of what the process requires and then shows what to expect, performance wise, in terms of trigger pull weight, velocity with 25 grain pellets and accuracy at 31 yards.
    Also shown are accessory options including a Leapers UTG OP3 Accushot 3-12x44 Mini SWAT scope with 30mm tube, Pro POI rings, a DonnyFL Yokozuna and a Saber Tactical Adjustable Buttpad. There are lots of things you can do to this powerful and lightweight airgun, and PJ's picked his favorites.
    There is some bonus content here that is over and above the norm for Box to Bench videos...Hopefully, and especially for those new to airgunning, you find it's worth your time to watch.
    There will be a part two for this rifle, so if you want to see more results based on pellet selection and fine-tuning, stay tuned for the next one. If there are things you'd like to see included, make sure to let us know so we can try to fit that in.
    Full Disclosures. The airgun in this video is a pre-charged pneumatic, pellet firing air powered rifle, not a firearm. The target shooting was conducted on a private indoor range with all applicable safety measures in place. The airgun featured was purchased by the reviewer, and the scope and rings were provided by the manufacturer.

      The single shot is a trade-off you have to be willing to take.

      Totally agree. The gun has changed very little in 30 years. Thank goodness for other manufacturers and models. I’m so done with unregulated PCPs and definitely no single shots even in a big bore. I want as much as I can get out of the box for my money. I don’t want a project rifle that I dump a ton of cash into to get what I think it should be when I can get it somewhere else stock. It’s a good gun just not one that I want.

    This was my first pcp air rifle i bought except mine is the SS fully shrouded with 12 inch 25 caliber barrel and Talon Tunes moderator. I learned it is a great simple starter pcp that has minimal problems to deal with. It's a lights out accurate shooter that i did install a regulator to get consistent shots. It doesn't get much action anymore as i have moved on to Gauntlet, Avenger, Notos, Hatsan magazine style rifles but this one is still ready to go if i need it!😊

    Great video!
    I am a big Airforce fan.
    I have a Condor .25
    It has shot lights out from day one!
    Mine is basically the way it came, except for a Mad Dog stock.
    It loves the 33.95gr JSB MkII heavy pellets and the NSA 36.2gr slugs.
    I'd love to see some more content with your Escape.

    I made my own version, with the Talon-P, put the 24-inch Barrel on then installed a Talon Tunes heavy hammer spring, have not been able to check the speed yet, but it sounds like a 22LR when it hits paper, with a 33 grain slug, still have several upgrades to make, wish I had the opportunity to use it yet.

      @WiscAirGunners do you have any tuning advice for a condor in. 25?

    • @WiscAirGunners
      @WiscAirGunners  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CobosDoesItAll start at the bottom of the power wheels range and work your way up. Pick a consistent pressure to fill to before each adjustment. What I mean is, for example, fill to 2800 psi and shoot a 10 shot string to see what the velocity is, and if possible, what a group looks like, then refill to 2800 and make an adjustment up, and repeat the process. If you’re not refilling as you’re making adjustments, you run the risk of coming up with a tune that works in the middle or the bottom of the tank, but is doing something unexpected on a fresh fill.

      It's been interesting to dive in to the "reasons" why this airgun exists. Like most of the airguns I've reviewed, they are not all for everything This one has some stuff to like, especially if what you want is simple, light and powerful.

    OH, HELL YES! Would love to see you push accuracy to the edge. I have two Talons and I started down the road of regulating one of them but got distracted and never went back to the project. The bark from these guns without a moderator cannot be overstated, they are LOUD. What camera did you use for the add in footage? It did not do the handsome viking justice....Lol. Peace brother! See you at SHOT! Hope we can hang out.

    Watching this I just realized that the True Ballistics chrono gives a projection of what the velocity should be at further ranges. That's based on the assumption that your garage is not 150 yr long.

    • @WiscAirGunners
      @WiscAirGunners  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can set it to different “steps” or distances. So you can tailor it to the length of the range. I’ve seen it report “reading” I know it can’t see, and I’m not sure how it’s calculating or estimating that.

    • @TargetForge
      @TargetForge 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I imagine that if it was able to determine BC within the tested range, extrapolation if a down range value would be entirely possible. It would be interesting to compare the computed results against the LabRadar system just to see how the two units track against each other. Hmmmm, interesting avenue.... @@WiscAirGunners

    Nice video, I love AF air rifles and the TalonP is still one of my favorite air guns for it's simplicity and power. But I didn't get the "ultra light" part. I didn't hear you talk about what actually changed between the Escape and Escape UL that gives it the name Ultra Light? What changed apart from the updated triggerguard to fit AR15 grips?

    • @WiscAirGunners

    My Airforce guns all have the Maddog stocks on them , way more comfortable . Not a fan of the new safety design , can't be decocked unless the bottle is removed 😠🤔. What I like about my Talon-P is just unscrew the bottle in a matter of seconds with no tools into a backpack and go , also carry an extra bottle with me . Only have one PCP that is regulated and don't see any real need for it just adds to the cost of the whole package . If you planned to be out all day hunting and shoot a lot of rounds then maybe ? It seems more of myth portrayed by those air gunners saying that you really have to have them more than anything and if your gun doesn't have one then its junk . No magazine SO WHAT ? To each his or her own applies here 😒. My Talon- SS in .177 caliber was my first PCP 20 years ago . Now it has a 24 inch 20 caliber barrel . Still kicking butt .

    • @WiscAirGunners
      @WiscAirGunners  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I whole heartedly agree that a regulator is not necessary, and definitely in the category of one more thing to go wrong -- though in my experience most of them are pretty solid. Maybe not 20 years solid, but pretty good.
      In pest control, which tends towards high volume shooting, I'll take something with a magazine, but for walking and stalking in the woods I don't mind single loading, especially because it opens the door to using many different projectiles.
