Box to Bench with the AEA Challenger Pro precharged pneumatic air rifle in .25 caliber Regulated PCP

  • Welcome friends to another Box to Bench where I remove the packaging and go right to the bench (after adding pellets, a scope and some air) and shoot the rifle for you, just as it came to me. The hope is to show you what you can expect from a brand new rifle out of the box.
    HOPEFULLY YOU READ THESE NOTES.
In this one I take things a little bit further. After a disappointing first couple of rounds I stretch things out even farther and get better results! And then I make a modification (using supplied parts) that makes things even better.
The AEA Challenger Pro is an evolution of design for AEA, and you'll find some similar features (4500psi fill-AR like trigger-all metal construction-folding, adjustable buttstock) but adds things like a tensioned barrel and, most importantly, a regulator. As usual, there is a lot of power on tap. Possibly too much in my opinion, but it can be toned down with a simple change of the transfer port, and in this model there is some degree of graduation though a detent or 10 would be welcome.
In this video I go through the process of mounting an Element Optics Helix FFP scope, fitting a DonnyFL moderator with a prototype of his adapter (the full production model is #A99 and is available now) and then load it up with JSB 34 grain pellets and start off with a group at 65 yards. If you stop there, you'll miss the potential of this rifle.
I also wind up shooting at 35, 90 and 55 yards, and perform a hammer spring swap before I draw my conclusions, so if you are going to watch, you'll want to hang around to the end.

I have the exact gun I slugged the barrel it is .2535 diameter . It seams to really like .254 diameter 33.5 gr slugs on high power at 1055 1054 1051 1054 1053 velocity taken with the labradar with the airgun trigger. When I was testing it was snowing and windy conditions 100 yards .75 vertical and 1.1 inches horizontal Note I did not finish testing because of a leak it developed. I have parts coming to fix it.

I bought the AEA Element lightweight Rifle. First time i shot it was ok, i cocked and shot again, what happened then was a bit scary - there was a loud burst of air in front of my face and the Shroud went flying off into the air and landed about 40 feet out into the yard and a few inside pieces was scattered about the ground. I called the company i bought the gun from and they gratefully replaced with a new one. Thanks for the Videos i learn something new each time i watch one.

Glad no one was hurt. Sounds like an adhesive or thread failure. That's the downside of trying to build out of carbon fiber.

I just came across your 25 cal pro video, and I just purchased one.I have been extensively looking at any info on this rifle online and getting any information I can about it.currently looking at the what most are running for ammo as to what this beast likes best,so I decided to get anything I can find that’s on the heavier side😂just because of the power it produces. There’s going to be considerable adjustments I see from what info I have been gathering on it so I’m at least somewhat prepared as to what I can expect. For sure this is a very versatile gun and cannot wait to get into it.I’ll just need to relax and let the Regulator settle in between tweeks and I think things should go well.Good shooting and enjoy!!👍🏻

Yea I have been tuning on some 26 grain hades and h&n hunters right now at 50 yds, have heavier stuff but it’s just fun playing with this, out of the box it was right around 1250 so obviously I had to turn it down, right now it’s at 155/60 on regulator and half open on the port, about 960/965 fps

Would love to see this in .45 caliber sir if you have the time and resources honestly. In .25 cal I highly doubt anything will surpass my LCS to be honest. However it is also not a caliber I would use to take whitetail obviously. Could it do it…end of world?…yes….but a 45 would be way better sir🤷‍♂️💯 BTW…leave the fill probe in the gun. Won’t fall out and works great. God bless.

Stedy here. I see and read all your comments on TH-cam.
      I have all 3 caliber SK19 s
All 3 very accurate ONLY after getting used to the trigger. BUT DEFINITELY NOT as accurate as my 3 FXs or Airmaks Katran or Zbroia Sapsan.
And my Huben K1 22 semiauto has a way better trigger and more power and 350 bar and way lighter weight and way more maneuverable . I guess that's 4 times better in my humble opinion 😌

I’m currently on the fence about whether I’m getting the .25 or .30.. I wonder how heavy you need to go to bring down the velocity. Any chance you could test some heavy NSA slugs through it? I’m wondering how heavy you have to go to achieve 950ish fps on max power.

I’m thinking I could’ve left the bolt open when I shot causing the plastic on back of clip to explode. I can’t get the clip out because the bolt is holding it in. I can’t get the trigger or safety to work. I unscrewed the barrel and there was a o ring hanging in the end of barrel. I called the pellet shop and they couldn’t do anything for me. Would you look at it if I send it to you. I know there is no guarantee but I’d like to know what went wrong. I thought the airgun community was usually helpful but I can’t get ahold of anyone. I can’t afford a new pcp. Could you check around for a receiver? Thanks

    Great informative video.
I found with my AEA Standard 30 cal regulated to 950 fps and 45 cal 850 to 900 fpe they shot better with heavy slugs. The 30 cal I use the Neilson 61.5 and 45 cal (with the upgrade high power valve) the Hunter Supply 279 grain which will work in the mag also by single loading the Hunter Supply 360 grain or the Nielsen dovetail 348 grain work great with 1" group or less at 50 yards, producing 675 to 700 fpe for hunting.
