Sure does. First time I tried this I didn’t cut the core out, and it felt like there was one long bump on the handle. Not so much when it doesn’t have the core.
As soon as I can get a rod worth doing this to, I will. Maybe a video on the best way to put our names on the rods. I'm still working on a permanent solution so I don't get into trouble.
Huh. Never thought about that. I’ll have to do some research. I know guys who do custom work for stuff like bikes. Wondering if I can do something similar with a fishing rod…
@ShowMetheHawgs I always want to use more than 2 rods in the Mississippi but in order to legally, name and address or conservation number needs to be on the rods.
You should cut the inner cords out of the end of the wraps as well. Then, pull it halfway down under the wraps. Then, cut off the two tag ends. The melted ends will leave a smaller lump, and it will be more secure.
Wow. Thanks. I never would have thought to cut the inner cords out, but I bet that helps the final look and feel of the wrap

Gotcha. I’ll have to look into that as well. Thanks for the video idea suggestion!
Informative, thank you. Please remember a dull knife is a dangerous knife-sharpen that bad boy.
It’s due for a good sharpening
