Had a V40 for three years, a 2013 one, with a diesel inline 5 cylinder engine. Great, reliable machine. No problems in 150.000 KM with it. It is also most definitely better made than a Golf and after 8 years still looked like new inside.
@@avit24 Yes. The 5 cylinder model. In 2014 came the new one. You can spot the difference in engine displacement, the first having 1984 cc and the second one having 1969 cc.
Great review as always Erick. I think we need an episode on improving ground clearance. You have mentioned here aftermarket springs. I once used an uber that the driver said had custom springs but the ride was stiff and terrible. Guide us on the proper way to raise clearance. Thanks
I tested one of these, 1600cc Turbo, and this car pulls man. The torque though feels abit high on low revs, wheel spin is abit high on loose surfaces..
I drove this Volvo and they're soo comfortable....and of course being Swedish they are very popular here....loved by many...do a review on Volvo XC90....now that is machine
I used a volvo v40 CC for a year and it was impressive. Nearly perfect. A Cross Country has a better clearance and greater trims. Heads up: It has cup holders at the back but they are hidden. Check well at that middle seat, there is something you need to pull and the cupholders will show up. Unipee hio 50/= nikuonyeshe 😂😂😂
am an automotive student at the technical university of kenya ....i would like to work with you you inspire me alot ...cant sleep without watching one of your videos hope to meet yoou soon Erick
When it comes to safety, it is arguably the best. However, some features are a bit annoying -the position of the parking brakes, and the back seat windows not going all the way down. Good job on the review as always, but please review more features like the fuel coverage per kilometer in D+/-, and the steering response at corners to appreciate the car features.
Your english is great, and really appreciate reviews of older cars we can actually buy :) Also there is so much more to say about reliability after a few years.
Everything about the car is good. The Ford Eco Boost engine is the downside. If it had a 2L Naturally aspirated engine it would be an okay car. One thing we need your mind on is engines going smaller and getting a Turbo eg Honda CRV 2018 AWD 1.5cc engine and the body and weights increase, the longevity with longterm serious use.
Getting T4 this week! After V50 that I had for 15 years and did 300k kms with only oil and filter change I cant go any other brand anymore!! All Bmws and Audis are breaking all the time compare to Swedish tractors…
Something else I noted when Mbugua was belting up in the back seat is that all the seats have 3-point seat belts. I believe it is standard across all Volvo vehicles.
The beeping that started at 29:01 was caused by Mbugua removing his belt to take photos of the front occupants. Someone said its mature in the sense that it beeps and stops after a reasonable time since the occupants are expected to be smart enough to have rectified their mistakes within that time.
I was thinking of buying a car for personal use movement from point A to B with a Budget of 700k. Would you recommend me to buy Mazda verisa. It looks good on the outside. please give a honest review. I am free with changing the car choice if mazda verisa is not good enough. Or maybe if you can please do a video of it.
Hehe I love it it's a small car that gives you experience of a bigger car. It was created especially for tall people is very roomy and has very good ground clearance. Fuel consumption is great and spare parts available. It was our first car I really love it I don't feel like selling it yet
If you have a loaded wallet, then yes, if not just stick to the Auris and/or Axela...Example: just ask around how much a volvo v40 headlight/taillight costs. If you don't lose your breath when you're told, then go ahead and get it.
Will depend with what you are looking for. If it's safety, Performance (thrill), comfort V40 it is. If price of spare parts is a factor then go for Auris (though the issue of parts prices is debatable)
U got this animal I rem you telling me ur getting it,u made me to always admire one when I see it on the road, atleast this dude gave us this review, superb small beast there
The only thing I hate from this car is only the tail rights design. They look ancient kwa kweli. If they change that design I will go for it. GARI iko na mitaa mikubwa kwa nyuma kama mbio za mwenge wa Tanzania😀😀😀

I drive a 2012 one, 1.6 diesel.Such a good car.Fast on the pedal(altough its 114hp), comfortable, well build, still looks nice and modern.

Great lesson given in this review, I'm in the process of buying it and such indepth information was appreciated

You can start your own channel.Content is what matters.
Watched your review of the V60 last year when I was shopping for a VW.... went ahead and got a 2015 one this year, a decision I'm glad I made.
Thank you don't forget to play with www.tinypesa.com/carnversations
Nice. Thanks for honoring my request for this review
I had one. Ground clearance plus kupata spare parts are the only issues
This is one of my fav Reviews. Been wanting to get a 2016 XC60 or 90. I'll really appreciate some insites on either of them most likely the XC90
I have understood the Volvo more than I did before nice work buddy👍
In my eyes, this hatchback has some really good looks compared to it's competitors.
This is exactly what I'm getting in November 🤭💃 thought about it for the last few months manze😭
Good job as always 🤝
Did you get it? I'm thinking about it too

The rear cup holders are at the center where the 3rd (middle) passenger would seat right on the edge of the bottom part.
Finally been waiting for this review. 🏎🔥🔥
Great show Wokabi. In addition to the brilliant analysis, the human touch you guys are going with is spot on!..Wazi Mkuu 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Thanks for the review...I agree safety and Performance on point not forgetting its sound system. my only issue ground clearance has its limitations
I have a V40 T4 2014 model and I love it.
Are you in Kenya?
A very good job by Erick. Thumbs up. Would you please do a review of BMW X1 as well.
The back seat has cup holders... Hapo tu kwa middle back seat.... The cross-country of v40 is the best.....
Start is keyless as long as the key is in the car.

Fabulous review ..i understood even the chemistry 😊😊👌🔥
Great work as usual. You really struggled to say that the Golf has better legroom. But it is a decent car
Ibrah is always like, 'Yes, yeees... Yes, yes....' I'd suggest he adds an 'Oh' before the 'yeses' so that he sounds fancier😁
dope review....but audio ya mbugua iko chini....apewe mic pia

Also Peugeot 308 is under this competition category, I also lov how this brand's name their muti Peugeot and Volvo.
Weldone Erick👌.. I asked and you delivered it perfectly 💯
Also it can be good alternative for mazda Axela, but with a higher ground clearance.
your reviews are awesome.very simple.

Great Review Erick, will you kindly do a review of the TRJ150. You did a pajero and someone needs to compare the notes.
I am obsessed with this car☺️
Thinking about getting this baby, but the fact that it was discontinued is quite scary. Could you review the V40 Cross Country?
Great review. Loved it to the end. Kindly do a review of Volvo S60. If possible compare it with Honda Civic. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!
I’ve also been looking forward to the S60 review!
Would you recomend this car over a Toyota Auris or Mazda axela?
This dude never answers any questions. Interaction on this channel is zero.
Axela al time

You said there's no rear cup holders, this incorrect, There are two cup holders in the middle of the rear seats
Please do a review on toyota camrys, I see them as reliable cars

This was done earlier. Check the channel for the review of the V60 polestar edition.
hapo kwa thutha kumenibamba sana
Can you compare this with a Subaru levorg???
No you can't, levorg is a beast. The 1.6 litre produces 170 hp, whereas the 2l gives 250+ hp all stock
The V40 does have keyless entry but no keyless start. Correct that.
Check your fob battery
Hahahaha don't put Golf and reliability onthe same sentence...hahaha nice review guys.
Nice stuff🔥
Price wise this compares to the Golf 1400cc not the 1200cc locally
A volvo person is a volvo person.
BTW Erick you never mentioned the actual figures for the fuel consumption....😅 The carnversation was not complete🥺😃

Check out the professor at 32:00. According to him 14+8= 25
😂😂😂😂 that was a simple miscalculation it's actually 22 we are sorry
Great Review though
The 'D' joke😂💀
And not mention the swede invented the safety belt 😉
The three point safety belt yes,and refused to patent it so that all others could benefit from the invention.

What a comparison, golf and this premium car 🤦
a 308 would be a worthy opponent to the v40... both are very beautiful cars, but the 308 is a tad prettier.
Foshoo
The 308 is awesome. Agreed.
Design ya mbele iko fiti. But without infotainment...nah, i'll pass.
7+7+8 is 22 not 25
