Ralph Nader talked about this in perhaps his best speech, “The Road to Corporate Fascism.” I bet it’s still on TH-cam. I would recommend his book, “Unstoppable” where he says if the left and right ever come together we can change what’s happening. They can all say what they want, it is a matter of how they act and there is a fair balance on either side of people trying to do good and those caught in the machine. I'm not sure which is better, voting for the people that espouse good values, but do bad; Or those that espouse bad values and also do bad. Moyers has done great work for decades. His series with Joseph Campbell is life changing to some. More recent work like “Selling the War” put the spotlight on some in media lacking ethics & being lapdogs for war mongers.

Ralph Nader talked about this in perhaps his best speech, “The Road to Corporate Fascism.” I bet it’s still on TH-cam. I would recommend his book, “Unstoppable” where he says if the left and right ever come together we can change what’s happening. I am not sure if that’s possible because it is in the corporate interest or to keep us divided. They know if we came together we would have too much power. But, progressives are trying to do it. There’s just not enough people who are aware of what’s really going on in our government.

Personally at 60 I invest in solid companys that pay dividends...1 I recommend to many is CMC its a F200 corp. I am not a financial advisor...Being diversified is important. Own some silver or gold [I like silver] real estate etc. What I can say is your age should adjust your risk tolerance As its harder to recover from bad investments older you get. Use common sense, DONT play in day trading...its very risky...lol I did it for about 7+ years. "Don't over estimate someone else's intelligence & underestimate your own".... Sounds like your on right track...just spend about an hour researching what you have a week...stay on top, DONT LET EMOTION get involved it kills in investing [easier said than adhered to!] Thats about all I can say, pretty vanilla, common sense....for long term goals..ha ha... Well that's an understatement. Politics is the opposite of what generates a cohesive society that works. As Proudhon put it, "Liberty, not the daughter but the mother of order." Look at any general interest internet forum. When people avoid the subject of politics, they interact well and respectably. When politics rears its ugly head, the conduct deteriorates and the insults appear. There is a reason for this. Politics IS coercion, and people don't like being coerced.
Yes, taxes (a euphemism for theft) is necessary to keep government running. That should give you a clue about government. Why would anybody want it?

I feel badly for the average democrat voter who can understand this, and still support democrats. The endless wars, the growth in government spending, and the erosion of civil liberties have all been pushed by the democrats. I don’t know a single democrat who opposes the wars, opposes the expansion of the black budgets, opposes the erosion of civil liberties, or who wants government to have less power to control other’s lives. I can think of a few highly unpopular republicans who do espouse these ideas, but they are deeply hated by average democrats for holding these opinions. Mike Lofgren even blogs negatively about these people who seem to me as an outsider to agree with his assessment of the problem, and are trying to address it. Mike Lofgren is describing the position held by Ron Paul since the early 90s as far as I can tell.

I think you're being a bit biased here. They can all say what they want, it is a matter of how they act and there is a fair balance on either side of people trying to do good and those caught in the machine. I'm not sure which is better, voting for the people that espouse good values, but do bad; Or those that espouse bad values and also do bad. I personally cannot vote for those that embolden racists, and since it is the same outcome either way, may as well vote for the people that pretend like they are doing the right thing.
