But right after this document came out the devs went silent for 10 days now... There ether making a response towards all of this and an apology or just entirely running away from this situation which honestly I feel like they don't give a shit since Bolt has tweeted once when the document was out-

Imagine if BOLT did get SEGA to take down Sonic Omens and SEGA became like Nintendo with Fangames. The Sonic Community would give BOLT a fate worse than death.
Imagine being so deranged and detached from reality that you base your opinion on the game and devs on a hypothetical scenario that doesn't even make sense.
PSA: These developers only made the game for money. MONEY. Not out of passion, like all fangames would be. Greed and spite fueled Omens' development, they only played a handful of Sonic games and watched Sonic X. They just want your wallets and will even flip you off as they make off with it, no matter how much you defend these assholes. With that said, do not support Sonic Omens or Ouroboros Studios and their work.
If you want good fangames to support with ACTUALLY cool developers, I recommend Sonic and the Fallen Star and Triple Trouble 16-bit. As for actual games... play Touhou Luna Nights and Spark the Electric Jester 3.

Honestly, I was one of the people who were hyped for sonic omens but now I just wanna forget this game exists. Fangames and money should never be associated in any way. Its fangames 101. I just find it funny how this document popped up and straight-up exposed so much about them lol.

I mean sure Sonic team’s recent track record hasn’t been all that great, but now Sonic team finally get to do what *they* what to do with their games and Sonic.

I couldn’t agree more. Sonic Omens has to be by far the most underwhelming and disappointing fangame I’ve ever seen in all my entire career. If I did have to rate this so called fangame I would’ve rated it below mediocre. If I were a fangame developer, I would’ve put my heart and soul to making a game that would satisfy the Sonic audience. You can’t expect the fans to enjoy what they see and get away with it. This was the developers one time to shine and so far it’s been a bloody insult to the Sonic community. Off the chart too easy!
I also forgot to point out that I compose my own music/covers and I always use my content for fair use and purposes. When folks ask me if they’d be willing to use my music, that’s fine as long as they give credit and ask permission professionally.

I’ll be honest, when I played the game before seeing any of the controversy, I enjoyed it, that was, until I got to the level that required the Tornado. From there, things just fell apart. I was able to deal with some of the bugs in the first levels because I was taking it all in, but the gameplay just tanked in quality afterwards. It’s a case of the physics engine being good, but the level design being trash.
But that's the problem, the developer of Infinity Engine gave up on it which leaves it unpolished in some places, also because he no longer likes Sonic.

This game is disgusting indeed. Orobouros Studios is very lucky that Sega is usually pretty cool with fan projects of Sonic. But if games like Sonic Omens keep showing up, it might hurt the likelihood of Sonic fan games continuing to stay up. The fact that there were (and still are) people who said that Sega and Sonic Team should be ashamed that they didn't hire these people to work for them is absolutely ridiculous! I thought that Sega was being criticized for having people who "don't care" about making Sonic have quality games for a long time. What makes them think that hiring Orobouros Studios to make a Sonic game would make things better, when they said outright that they finished the game out of spite and hate? If the title screen said "Developed by Sonic Team", with all of its issues, fans would be screaming non-stop about how it's another Sonic '06, Boom, or Forces! But since it's "fan-made", it gets to be called "better than any official Sonic game combined". I get that Sega has made a fair amount of blunders with the series, but a claim like that seriously frustrates me!

Accurate title. I was kinda hoping this fangame would be cool, but after knowing everything that happened behind the scenes plus the fact that the game isn't even that good, yeah this entire thing is just an entire disgusting mess that no one should indulge in
Wanna know what sucks? This game recently got an update almost two weeks ago. I forgot what the update was and I read the comments of the video of someone showing the update. People in the comments were like “Despite the controversy, this game is still amazing.” Goes to show they clearly don’t know everything about the controversy and people are still praising it just because of its visuals
Worst offender of this is this guy named Leonardo Alvarenga. Dude is a complete unhinged Omens rider. Guy goes on every omens related video and talks about how Omens is better then EVERY sonic game ever made. I have heard people say he is BOLT in disguies. (Which isn't really a surprise since he never takes criticism.) He is also picks fights with people who disagree with him, calling them slurs. The guy is bad news.

Sonic Before/After the Sequel, Sonic Classic 1 and 2, Sonic Triple Trouble 16 bit, Sonic and the Fallen Star are all complete Sonic fan games made out of love for Sonic and released all for free, and I never saw these games garnering the level of praise and cult following Omens have, despite being leagues above. Not even 3D fan games like P-06, Sonic GT and Sonic Utopia had so many fans.
From my perspective, what attracts people to Omens and have them defend this game despite all the issues so far is one feeling: spite. Sonic Omens was a fan game made and finished out of spite for the Sonic franchise, and spite is what keep fans coming back to it, because they hate official Sonic games so much and *want* to believe this fan game is the second coming of Christ.
Forces has gotten enough punishment. It’s about time the fanbase finds a new punching bag.

I knew about the initial warning they got but all this is.... It's just sickening. Eventually I personally want to get into the video game industry wherever I might be able and seeing the line of "we finished this out of spite" just stabbed me in the heart man... I've always admired the way movies work and how even if they have a deadline the actors can still have fun with it (as seen on bloopers) and I feel that's... Kinda how video games should be in their development, just everyone having a good time trying to make it to the goal and taking suggestions from others or adjusting what is needed. I haven't even gotten into the industry and I seem to understand that more than these guys.

This is the biggest "meh" of all time. I really hope that stuff like this does not get the fanbase shut down, because mods and fangames are positively carring the series.(I mean, for example, P-06. I know ChaosX doesn't care about and is sick of the "lol, better than official", but it's just facts at some point when this game starts to slowly dissolve the hate towards the dark age while Sega sends Origins out to die for €€€.)
Also, funny how the game was appearently only finished out of spite because from the plotsynopsis I heared, it wouldn't even read like it was made with regard for the series itself. It's clearly set in the same continuity of the games, yet the anime is for some reason the source for half the plotpoints, which doesn't make any sense. And basically taking a dump all over Shadow's entire backstory for the edge, which it's not even conceptually cool edge unlike his own game. Under a review of the game, I have actually seen defending Forces in comparison and that is the absolute situration of it. (Of course, this wouldn't really matter if the entire premise about it being this "new exciting game" wasn't tied to being pretentious about the story and its cinematics. It's akin to talking crap and then being surprise_pikachu when people want you to prove that talk isn't cheap, except it's in presentation and advertisement-form.)
14:25 Appearently that was confirmed an inside joke because a artist remembered from their childhood that people around that age started wearing such underwear? I mean, I personally don't even logically understand this as a joke tbh, because it's not really funny, it furthers the train of thought that the game is out of place compared to any official material and it also just makes no sense.(The text on it is like wearing an "I suck"-shirt. What is the point?) It's just kinda tasteless and dumb. That being said, this is pretty much the least of the issues with this whole ordeal.
In the Sonic Adventure Auto demo Amy's falling animation has her skirt flip up all the way to her chest... At Least that wasn't in the final game thankfully...
I agree with your thoughts on Omens controversy, and I think Omens is really disgusting too but I hope in the Future, Sega will start Copyright Striking Sonic Fan-games for all but we have to wait and see on that info and secondly I hope Ourobours Studios will start deleting their patreon and Boosty Accounts due to the Omens Controversy or thirdly, I hope Ourobouros Studio will replace Sonic and his Friends with Original Characters due to copyright reasons like SML/Super Mario Logan but I hope the Omens Controversy ends.
I hope SEGA won't stop Fan Games They do love their fans even if half of them are ungreatful brats that can't be pleased. SEGA stopped supporting Sonic World cause of the Drama Ozcrash got into, aka being accused of molesting a woman. The Vic Mignona situation taught me to be neutral with these allegations. But Ozcrash's sketchy behavior didn't help his case of innocence or the lady could've been lying, but who really knows. But this mess with Ourborus Studios? It's clear their in the wrong and this is pure greed. Shame like a Paper Mario Fangame by Gigasoft(Their Mario Fangames were pure nonprofit and Fair use) that got axed cause Nintendon't; Sonic Omens looked promising but was wasted.
I’m gonna be the one outlier here and say that even if these devs were just totally normal Joes, this game is a trainwreck regardless. Everything up until Waterfall Chase is good(well besides the first Tails level and first boss, and also Tree Palace, fuck that level), and then when Shadow gets introduced it all falls apart.

I was gonna try out this game at one point while I wait for frontiers but I heard about this before. But didn't know it was THIS BAD. Like this is deeply concerning, I really do hope this won't effect other fan games.

LMAO we have almost the exact same thumbnail about the exact same video, but good video overall, its crazy that even more things outside of this google drive document got exposed, and its almost like every single day something new comes out about this dev team.
I even found Vintiru’s lines in the game files (and her impression of Jason Griffith’s Shadow is perfection)

It's one thing having people willingly give you money to help fund your passion project for the benefit of everyone and then there's locking your fan game behind a paywall. One thing is admirable and the other is disgusting, guess which camp Omens fall into.

Maaan! Sonic Omens gave me an excuse to revisit the music of one of my favorite childhood racing games. The tracks ages so well. Both racing on them, and the music. Roster is huge and whenever there are alts, they are worthwhile. And the game controls so well! What a nostalgia trip. That's the only thing Sonic Omens did. I just hope that this doesn't prove to be a bad Omen.
One criticism the fanbase has that i will never understand is how apparently the level design is "bad". Sonic Omens features fairly long(but not too long) and fairly spacious stages that featur limited automation, decent platforming, multiple paths and oppurtunities to find shortcuts with creative and skilfull gameplay. Omens' Level design is LITERALLY everything that the fanbase has been begging Sonic Team to make Boost stages like since forever and that's apparently bad. You don't want simplistic and easier Forces design, you don't want complex and more challanging Omens' design, hell you also don't seem to be too happy about Open World Frontiers design either so what exactly do you want people? I honestly don't understand. Sonic Fandom TRULY cannot be ever pleased.

What I don't understand are the people who criticize the people who made the document for being "creepy enough to look for maria's underwear texture" when I find it a HUGE possibility that they were just looking at the game's textures and not at all looking for a texture like that.

I first heard about this game a year ago I think, and two things bothered me:
1. Shadow's Russian accent
2. The fact that there was a Patreon to support the game financially.
Then I saw the document and discovered that these were just the tip of an iceberg big enough to sink any great undertaking. Yeah, no...I'm not touching Omens with an 85-foot pole. I'm perfectly content with Sonic P-06, thank you very much.
Tried it last night and it started off really promising with Chao Paradise then I got to the first boss and it started to go downhill from there.

First of all those who criticize this game should definitely not be attacked. That being said even AAA game companies do underhanded things when it comes to keeping the lid on criticism of their games and they have most of access media in their back pockets. Why do you think IGN has access to show early parts of Frontiers. To keep even obvious criticisms under wraps. As far as the paywall controversy goes that’s between Sega and the Sonic Omens creators. They didn’t wrong us. You see something of value it makes you want to pay for it. Just because it’s on the internet doesn’t mean you should get it for free. Stop using Sega as a scapegoat for you to be cheap. Demo the game and if you like it kick in what you can. The game is great. Needs patches but I would gladly donate. I paid 40 bucks for a 10 year old sonic colors that needs issues fixed, and I’ve heard countless bad reviews about how sonic origins is unfinished.

Maybe it doesn't deserve the amount of bashing due to being a fangame... but the whole Omens community definitely asked for it. You guys wanted to praise the game as "better than official games", well guess what we criticized it as if it was on the same standards as official games. Result is: it's 06 2.0. It's no exagerration.

Also Paywall or not, it's just a fangame. You have the choice to support it or not. Time is still considerably valuable for some so it would make sense if someone would at least try to make some money from the time they took to make something. People should have just not supported it in the first place, so both sides are to blame, the seller and the buyer.
I'm also not saying that criticising the is bad but I'm seeing overall just hate than any sort of criticism. It's so stupid to see people act up over a fan project, Grow up y'all.
I feel like this is similar to Michael Jackson's situation. Some people dropped him and his music after the allegations came around, others tried to separate the creator from the art. I personally enjoy the game while also disagreeing with the practices of Uroboros Studios.
And in both cases, most allegations are either false or blown out of proportion.

Now i would like to see the peoples that says Sonic Omens is better than Sonic Frontiers.
I find it funny that people liked this game but bashed frontires at least that's a game with time and effort put into it making sure it's for every one even thought it's not going to appeal to everyone omens just shaping a sonic controller over a bunch on Unreal assets and it shows thus game is trying to pander to boost and adventure but those two games gave different design philosophies
the only thing i liked about Sonic Omens is the cutscenes. not the voice acting, that's not great (even if Sonic does sound pretty okay compared to the rest), but the animation of the first few cutscenes is better than anything we've seen before Sonic Frontiers (excluding Sonic Boom, the cutscene animation in Rise of Lyric was fire). the game looks great, but that's about the only good thing i can say about it.
edit: just watched some more cutscenes, even Sonic's voice acting is horrendous.

Also another thing that bothered me(which is more of a nitpick but I’ll say it anyways)is that Shadow sounded Russian and it always bothered me, and on top of that it barely sounds like shadow. The closest example to describe how shadow sounds is that he sounds like an Emo version of Vladimir Putin🤣
sup Unleash, I'm having a great day playing Sonic Colors Ultimate, and Sonic Origins.
I know some of the developers did terrible things, but the game itself? The game is from great to amazing and i actually played it (unlike 90% of the games haters) and this is what i think about it: story is whatever, music is FIRE and by the way i don't really see how area 99s music is similar to cars 2s music, most of the time the level desine is awesome especially the final stages, the tornado levels could have been better but they are alright, Sonics and shadows gameplay is better than any sonic game or fan game, there is a challenge ( which is something sonic team will never give us), bosses are great but they take longer than they need to, the style and the feel of the game in general is fire and on point.
Personally this is the best sonic fan game👍.
United Railroad is on a whole other level, what a great stage.

It's actually my second favorite level in the game after the citadel of lotus, in my opinion they are way more fun and intense than any sonic/shadow stage in any sonic game, and i am not overreacting! I played almost all of sonic games and non of them gave this much joy!

Well, I kind of want to experience the terribleness for myself. But a lot of the developer's actions are not justifiable. Thankfully, I'm the kind of person who doesn't expect much from fan games to begin with (not even Sonic fangames - to paraphrase an old article, there's lots of good ones but most of then are crap. I outgrew my blind praise of them quite quickly; although I still do love SRB2). I only really want to play it to laugh at it. Especially that edgelord plot - I am looking foward to using it as ammo in my crusade to convince everyone that the comic mandates are a necessity.
So, unless your the kind of person who actively tried to beat Sonic 4 Episode 1 despite seeing it as the only bad Sonic game you have ever played (AKA Me), I would advise that you should all go and play Sonic Robo Blast 2 instead. It shows its age (and demonic ancestry, wink wink), but it'll run on literally everything (I beat it on integrated graphics) and really it'll just give you a massive smile on your face.
I won't watch this video because i'd like to play the game by myself and build my own opinion about it. I never thought it would be this hated, I loved the last demo besides some bad optimisations.
This game and the people behind it are so disgusting! I would rather play sonic forces, yes, it’s that bad! I mean it’s one thing to be unprofessional as a first timer, but these monsters crossed the line!

I heard a lot of things about this game, and it’s all been negative. In general, and this is going to get controversial, but I’m not a huge fan of Sonic fan games. Why? Well, one, they’re PC exclusive, which I really hate and some of these games would feel good to play on mobile. Two, I don’t notice them sometimes because they don’t get publicly announced that often. I don’t hate fan developers. I actually love their work, but I’m just not interested in checking it out for myself. But, then again, that is just a roadblock in my way. Some of the developers for this game have ridiculous behavior. Well, if I can ask everyone a question in this comment, what fan games would you recommend to me? Just so you know what my interests are, I really like 2D Classic Sonic games and just 2D Sonic in general. I would be absolutely for changing this negative opinion I have on these games because they look really fun. I’ll try checking out what you suggest if I am able to. The only unfortunate part is that I’m going to have to use a keyboard since I can’t afford a controller.
Sonic triple trouble 16 bit and Sonic and the fallen star are cool classic sonic fangames that came out recently. I think you'll like fallen star more(I did) because it gives off so much mania vibes and the visuals and music are goated as heck. And your pc doesn't need to be that good to play them too.

@@skeetermagee2487 That's... irrelevant? Knuckles and Shadow didn't appear in Unleashed and that's completely fine. If every character appears in every game it would feel like their lives revolve around Sonic, which is definitely a bad direction to take the series. Sonic is a vagabond who wants to see what adventures the world has to offer, he's always traveling around and meeting new people. Think of it like Avatar the Last Airbender.

Sonic omens like a lot of people say “it looks pretty but doesn’t play pretty” heard that a lot and it’s the perfect description of the game game controls in most of the game *MOST!* LIKE SHIT even with the rework which 99% they did nothing and just said they did which with there track record wouldn’t be shocking but anyway why game controls bad well first sonic/shadow is a mix of adventure and boost which *on paper* is good idea and is the key word on paper which is should have stayed the problem is boost u hold one button to go fast and it’s about reaction time and Adventure it’s about Alternate paths and taking short cuts to gain more speed then Don’t go together soo what does omen do 80% per sent boost and 20% Adventure which sucks yeah like doesn’t work

@@ContextuallyDeContextualized To be fair that has been the case with every polarizing Sonic game, not only Unleashed but also Heroes, Black Knight and Riders. It seems likely that Omens will get the appreciation it deserves years down the line.
No by then actual developpers with skill and passion will outdo Omens' supposed qualities with another fan project. That's just how our world typically work: time pass, more technology are made, new engines are made to make high quality games easier and more accessible to fans.
Omens is going go down in history as the 06 of the fangame community. Highly hyped but an objectively huge disappointment. Concept was good but executed horribly, too ambitious for beginners like Ouroboros Studio.
Saying Omens is actually good all the while never properly countering criticism... It's called denial. I followed it ever since the demo, never had bad blood for the whole patreon thing. Played the last episodes before the doc was made public. Guess what, I hated it.
