    You have no idea how happy I am learning about the PC RBG Space setting! Was wondering why colors were so flat and dull and now I can also see shadows properly, before they would appear washed out and make my gameplay look unsaturated.

      It’s great for gaming on this monitor. Gives it that extra punch. Makes 1440p look even better. Also gives you more control with the picture settings on the monitor itself. Glad you are liking it!

    If you have this monitor on PC the HDR mode is killer, meant for 1ms response time in fps games you'll always hit your shots first, no motion blur so you can track your targets with precision. This monitor is a game winner! Not really meant for 4k movies in my opinion but still great picture

      Hell yea! Yea the HDR is not the way on this one. If it were an IPS display then maybe it’d be okay. This one just doesn’t get bright enough for it. It’s a great brightness for gaming, though. And that refresh rate 🤩

      So is this 100% a good monitor for the Xbox series x and what do you mean you forget to turn off the hdr?

    • @Matt_the_TechRanger
      @Matt_the_TechRanger  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      HDR is a setting on the Xbox that you can turn off under 'Video modes'. If it isn't unchecked then it will force the monitor into HDR whenever you boot up a game that offers it. The HDR on the monitor isn't great and it'll lock you out of some settings on the monitor so that's why I recommend having it unchecked on the Xbox.
      I really like this monitor. I've owned it for about a year now. I also didn't think I'd like a curved display but it works great.

    Looking at picking up this monitor and going through all the comments. In one comment you mention that you use a different monitor now for gaming. Is there another monitor that you would recommend (similar to this one) for a Xbox Series X? (that is relatively similar in price?) I use the p27gr from Titan Army at the moment for the second monitor. It’s a brighter panel cause it’s IPS but it’s not curved. It seems like there are more and more sub $200 1440p monitors that aren’t curved. So I’d say if you can get a good price on this one then you won’t be disappointed. If it’s similar in price to an IPS one like the P27 then I’d go for the P27. Hopefully that helps. I’m all ears for any questions!

      That’s awesome! You can try running with 1440p 120hz with PC RGB on FPS mode preset. That way, if you switch to something that can do 120hz then you’ll have it. But you can definitely stick with 4K 60 hz standard color if you want that extra crispness. Just not as crispy as a native 4K panel obviously.

    • @Matt_the_TechRanger
      @Matt_the_TechRanger  ปีที่แล้ว

      The gigabyte has an IPS display so that should be a bit brighter, and more vibrant but the contrast won't be as good as the VA panel on the Asus. So dark corners in FPS games, etc.. might be a bit tough on the Gigabyte but won't be horrendous or anything. The Asus will also have a curved display where it looks like the Gigabyte is just regular. I haven't used a Gigabyte monitor so I can't really speak on the quality but it seems pretty nice from the specs and reviews on Amazon.

      Furr sure. The first one I had was a bad panel so ASUS was able to replace it. So far, I’ve had it for over a year now and it’s been great. Bright enough to not blind your eyes. They have an IPS version but I don’t think it’s necessary. At least not with the way I have mine setup in the video.

    • @Matt_the_TechRanger
      @Matt_the_TechRanger  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s changed the way I game. Probably more so that its my first 1440p high refresh rate monitor but I still think it’s one of the best for the price. I shopped around a lot! I also didn’t think curved monitors were a big deal but I really love that feature now.
      I think Dolby Vision gaming can lag on TVs. I tried it on my 4K TV with Black Ops and it also knocked me back down to 60hz. HDR will kick back to 60hz as well depending on the display so I think that’s why HDR locks all other options on this monitor. I would make sure to turn that off on the Xbox first if you pick this up.

      Xbox Series S can only go up to 1440p but on this monitor, there isn't an HDMI 2.1 port so the max for each console would be 1440p 120Hz. Some Series S games may have a lower resolution (like 1080p) in order to hit 120Hz depending on settings for games that can do that. But leaving this at 1440p would be just fine.

      That should be all you need. It's possible that older HDMI cables nay not work with 120Hz but if you are using the one that came with your Series X | S then you should be fine. Which Call of Duty are you playing? Warzone/Modern Warfare hasn't got a Series X | S update yet, Just Vanguard and Cold War. It's possible that some of the pre-configured GameVisual options may disable it. I would make sure HDR is turned off on the monitor and the Xbox (Video Modes).

    I'm currently thinking about either getting this monitor or a benq ex2780q, which is an ips panel (i know it is discontinued but it is available at my local computer shop) but im a little bit stuck because it is very hard to find a good review of either one and i was hoping i could ask you which one you would recommend (also this is for the xbox series x)

    • @Matt_the_TechRanger

      Great question! I haven't used any BenQ monitors but know they used to use them (might still use them?) for competitive Call of Duty. I would think if they got that big contract that they would be pretty good. I think that also inflates the price a bit. The Asus monitors tend to go on sale more on Amazon so if you're just looking to get the specs then I've been quite happy with this model because it does the job and looks great.
      The BenQ one is IPS and has a USB-C port but unless you'll be using this with your computer as well, it might not be worth the extra money but I don't think you'd be disappointed if you have the extra cash. I just couldn't give a good review since I haven't used it. I just looked at the specs 😃

Thank you for replying though!
      Edit: Also I heard that curved panels don't work too well on the xbox series x as curved monitors have 21:9 aspect ratio and xbox series x doesn't support ratios wider than 16:9 and it wont look too good apparently.

It would be worth checking out for sure! Can't go wrong with colors on an IPS. I use one for work. The only downside is backlight bleed. Viewing angles don't matter as much since you'll be looking straight at it but blacks can look gray if the panel isn't great. I say go for it if the price is right and it has the extra features you want. Those USB ports are also nice to have.

      HDR can’t be used with 120Hz. In this case, the monitor can’t do HDR well so you aren’t missing much. When you click on Refresh Rate and select 120Hz then it will usually knock the resolution down to 1080p but you can click on resolution to force it to 1440p. There might be a pop-up for switching so just select “switch anyway”. If the refresh rate changes then you can force it to 120Hz again and you should be good.

    • @Matt_the_TechRanger

      That looks like a 1440p monitor but it's possible that the Series X may not support ultrawide at 1440p 120hz but would support 120hz at 1080p, probably with black bars. So it could accept the 4K signal much like the one in this video but it wouldn't be native and would be limited to 60hz.

    • @Matt_the_TechRanger
      @Matt_the_TechRanger  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a darker panel but you shouldn't have trouble seeing things unless maybe you are in a super bright room. If I have 4K on then I usually run the FPS Mode preset. If I'm running 1440p 120HZ then I'll put on the Scenery preset. Brightness to 100 on each. You can also mess with the shadow boost setting as well to help with darker areas in games. Hopefully, that helps!

      You sure you don't have a 1080p model? There is a 1080p version that looks identical. What Xbox are you using? I've been using this monitor at 1440p 120hz for over two years so it can definitely do it.

    Hello, free sync premium does not come when I open those settings how do I get that to show?

    • @Matt_the_TechRanger
      @Matt_the_TechRanger  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s odd. It’s possible that a couple things are happening:
      1. Your Xbox may not be up to date or isn’t communicating with the monitor. If your Xbox is up to date, you can try plugging it into a different HDMI port on the monitor.
      2. There could be another setting on the monitor that is greying that option out.
      Let me know what you come up with. From my experience, finding Freesync and turning that on allowed 120hz to pop up after selecting 1440p. I’m using the HDMI included with the Series X.

    • @Matt_the_TechRanger

      Not super familiar with PS5 settings but there should be a spot to set 1440p as your default. Just not sure if games on there or the UI really support it natively. There is a sharpness setting but I wouldn’t recommend jacking that up too much or you could get some artifacts.

    Got this monitor recently. It is absolutely horrible. Any dark colours; it smudges to the point where it becomes a choppy nightmare. Only option is to almost make it grey scale with the 'shadow boost aka whitewash'. Avoid this at all costs.
