Been called black sheep by my former pastor. I know he doesn't speak for God because he's human, and it doesn't deter me from God, just the organization. I believe because I want to, I have reason to, and I don't judge others for not. Listening to metal doesnt make me Evil, or any less Chrsitian. Rock on brothers and sisters.
I listen to slot of stuff that contradicts my faith in Jesus and we are not supposed to be it that it is the word of the world but I do think it is important to get your feelings out and yes you should go to church it's like going to a friend's house you love times ten find a new church brother but remember only God can judge and only through Jesus Christ will you enter heaven it's hard to be us free will but God created us for us to want to be in his company and as this world gets more evil by the day things get more tricky and catchy and are hard to boot out of your life but remember words can be a curse for sure negative minds bring negative things positive minds bring positive things and I hope you pick the road less traveled on brother it is hard but it's not as you become closer to Jesus these things will all seem so un important God bless ya bro
"We build cathedrals to a pain, establish monuments to attain, freedom from all the scars and the sins...less we drown in the darkness within"...damn that line hits home
"Darkness Within" Here in this darkness that I lay Depression heavy in its weigh And how my body aches to leave To sing its final eulogy My sons I love you evermore And though the road beckons once more I see the damage that I've done In search for redemption But I am just a broken man Whose soul cries out to understand How the madness shatters me Upon the stage on bended knee I scream out loud at skies above That answer mute bereft in love I struggle not to fall from grace Or sing the hymns of my disgrace We build cathedrals to our pain Establish monuments to attain Freedom from all of the scars and the sins Lest we drown in the darkness within Mystery's forgotten chords I strum in vain to please the lord But he has never answered me My faith has waned eternally In empty men who pass along The woes of all religions wrong But now the Shadowed veil it falls Heed the Clarion call So pray to music build a shrine Worship in these desperate times Fill your heart with every note Cherish it and cast afloat 'Cause god is in these clef and tone Salvation is found alone Haunted by its melody Music it will set you free Let it set you free We build cathedrals to our pain Establish monuments to attain Freedom from all of the scars and the sins Lest we drown in the darkness within Music my saviour (Save me) We build cathedrals to our pain Establish monuments to attain Freedom from all of the scars and the sins Lest we drown in the darkness within
This song changes everything. It is so easy to relate our own lives to this, because it is such a common vein throughout metal music. We all treat this like it is our god. Our religion as such. Thank you Machine Head for providing us with this song.
Thank you, Robb, for not cutting this music video shorter like you did with Halo and Locust and The Aesthetics of Hate. This song means a lot to me. Music is my religion and has been with me for my entire life.
When I read comments on Tube about old Machine Head and new Machine and how they sounded before this and after that and which disc is better and which is worse all I can think off is how progressive this group is both musically and artistically. Their work cannot compete with itself as every album stands on its own yet is a part of Rob Flynn's ongoing process towards perfection. Yeah, awesome mighty Machine
Эта песня просто разрывает душу напополам! Эта песня - крик человека , который обращается к музыке за моральной помощью. Это не просто песня. Песня просто божественна как в плане вокала и музыки , так и эмоционально. БРАВО!!!
Thank you on behalf of my production MEJLA PRODUCTION great reviews for our new clip. We are looking forward to it. CZ/ Děkuji jménem mé produkce MEJLA PRODUCTION za skvělé hodnocení našeho nového klipu. Velmi nás to těší.
from their masterpiece "unto the locust". They shed their old NU-metal leanings. to become one of the finest heavymetal bands in the world. The angst and pain still is evident, but the music is simply genius. THey can tribute great bands like judas priest and rush, because they can easily share the stage. Davidian was a fantastic album, then they got lost for the 90s. Through the ashes of empires was the return. The Blackening was the proof, Unto the locust puts them on the mainsatage.
This song is just what music is about. Back there in wacken last year, out there, knee-deep in the mud, MH playing that song was one of the most emotional, driving moments in my life. This song reminded me of why I love music, and why I love that kind of music particularly. Whoever listenes to that song will probably know what I am speaking about
I call this pure art at its finest. Great song, amazing/deep/emotional lyrics, Great music video, lets not forget the acting. They all show great passion and Machine Head gets into the song and moment. It shows in this video that they are legends and will always be legends. Pure art at it finest!
Have heared this song often and love it. But in this moment came back the memory to when I saw them and expecially this song at the Rock Im Park festival in 2012. That was so epic! And as a fact: they sounded live as good as on this official track.
omg...i love this song..and i never saw the videoclip...and its in the only european city i've been! seeing those streets i have walked on... i would love to know which year it has been filmed. right now i see posted 12 years ago...and i was in prague in 2012....12 years ago!!
I fucking love Machine Head and I love this song.I can't listen to this without getting a lump in my throat, lyrics remind me of how i felt when my lost my dad.
when i first heard machine head years ago i wasn't a big fan, but with every album i started to love this band. in my opinion this album is the best i've heard from anyone in a long time. \,,/
he stopped believe in god, n believe in music, i totally agree with u on this point, therefore, the song is against religion :) its not only about music, its about religion, n thats why it moved me every time i listen to it...
I know how you feel man. I mean, I felt this was the most powerful songs I'd heard all year and even had the privilege of seeing them play it live. I don't understand why he did a speech beforehand explaining how he's lived without a religion due to his upbringing and simply dedicated the song to anyone who has only ever had music as their God if he was going to turn round and film something like this. And seriously.............nun monsters??
Looks like it was filmed in the Czech Republic: Sedlec Ossuary and Prague. Seen both in person - perfect setting for this video... Awesome Metal! MH - not many like these guys nowadays - 6-7 minutes power in each song on Locust. A true, monumental Cathedral of Metal!
Been about 10 months since I bought this album the day it came out. This is still and probably forever will be one of my favorite songs. I can't wait to see Machine Head at Knotfest xD
I'm Christian... I love metal, I say this was the best album of '11. 'God is in this clef and tone' speaks to me in a manner that I think Rob believes in a higher power that is inspiration or diving force in life, his just happens to be in music which isn't anti-Christian necessarily. God speaks to us in a way we as individuals are comfortable, it's up to us to acknowledge it, not accept it because it's forced on us. I have no quarrel with the way people view organized religion. "We build cathedrals to a pain, establish monuments to attain, freedom from all the scars and the sins...less we drown in the darkness within"...damn that line hits home
I know.
"Darkness Within"
Here in this darkness that I lay
Depression heavy in its weigh
And how my body aches to leave
To sing its final eulogy
My sons I love you evermore
And though the road beckons once more
I see the damage that I've done
In search for redemption
But I am just a broken man
Whose soul cries out to understand
How the madness shatters me
Upon the stage on bended knee
I scream out loud at skies above
That answer mute bereft in love
I struggle not to fall from grace
Or sing the hymns of my disgrace
We build cathedrals to our pain
Establish monuments to attain
Freedom from all of the scars and the sins
Lest we drown in the darkness within
Mystery's forgotten chords
I strum in vain to please the lord
But he has never answered me
My faith has waned eternally
In empty men who pass along
The woes of all religions wrong
But now the Shadowed veil it falls
Heed the Clarion call
So pray to music build a shrine
Worship in these desperate times
Fill your heart with every note
Cherish it and cast afloat
'Cause god is in these clef and tone
Salvation is found alone
Haunted by its melody
Music it will set you free
Let it set you free
We build cathedrals to our pain
Establish monuments to attain
Freedom from all of the scars and the sins
Lest we drown in the darkness within
Music my saviour (Save me)
We build cathedrals to our pain
Establish monuments to attain
Freedom from all of the scars and the sins
Lest we drown in the darkness within
Thank you

Machine Head with me on my ups and downs in life, great band with great music.
