- So everyone trying to give advice about how to take care of my snake you can save it. Had him for 12 years and on my 5th deployment last year the idiot watching my house did not feed him or give him water for 7 months and he passed away without me knowing. Since then the guy watching my house avoided me after doing that, and different damage on my home. Was a co worker in the military and friend but now is a sworn enemy and he won't come near me since he knows I'll end him. So all the advice you have from you "snake experts" can save it like I said. He lived a happy life till that asshole starved and dehydrated him. He was spoiled so yall take care of your own snakes how you please. Its like kids, don't tell someone's mom or dad how to raise their own kids... just worry about your own unless someone asks for your advice.

My ball pythons do this too and I looked it up and said that sometimes they blow bubbles for fun. Like they are playing in the water. Don’t know how true that is, but watching them do it it certainly looks like its for fun lol

move in with me. my snake has a chronic flu, which causes him to sneeze a lot. his previous owner kept him in too high and too low temperatures for long perionds. the vet said although he's not sick anymore, he just sneezes all the time. it's cute af but i also feel so bad for him. i wish i was his forst and only owner.

On a brighter and more funnier note, the person who takes care of our dogs and fish when we are on vacation called us one day, to inform my family that he was terribly sorry that he killed our pet turtle. Our non-existent pet turtle in the coi pond. What's funnier still is it was our neighbor across the street who saw the "dead" turtle in the pond one day while visiting our dogs and informed the dogsitter of it. My family and I have had a good laugh at their expense for a long time now after telling them it was a "toy" turtle

RIP little buddy. Sorry that happened to your snake man. That sucks. I had a similar situation years ago. Not military, but someone was supposed to be taking care of a boa for me and starved it to death. I literally tear up just thinking about it. It took all the restraint I could muster not to beat the life outta dude when I ran into him and his kids at the store about year after it happened.

+The Chaperone not really, I don't have kids. Might not be able to. I just know my own guilts eat away at me enough by myself, if other people do the same I just feel worse. Some people don't feel like I do about themselves, but they'll probably care if people they care about hold them to a standard.
Not saying to tell someone's kids directly, but airing that dirty laundry in front of them (I.E. confront the guy about it around his kids and they overhear) should be enough.
These guys can go so long without food that you really have to be knowingly negligent to starve them.

The snake exhales at :45 but theres no sneeze. Snakes do not have a diaphragm like humans and so their lungs can't exhale that quick, so no cough or sneeze. But they can do cute things (or signs of sickness) that we call a sneeze or cough. :)

I had a similar incident happen last year with my budgie. We went camping and had someone pet sit, when we got back two days later (we left a day early), my poor birds water bowl was dry and the food was practically empty. I was so upset that it had me in tears. If we’d been gone a week like our normal trips, he would have died from the neglect he faced in our absence.

almost 4 years late but still I'm so sorry for your loss. I never had a pet snake but I grew up with a lot of cats and dogs and all of them were/are part of the family. If I were in your situation and found out my pets were starved to death, let's just say I'd end up in jail and I wouldn't care.

That’s a gorgeous bp, you can tell he was well taken care of while you were there. Although it’s been a few years, I’m so sorry for your loss. To let that happen to any animal, especially one that is being watched for an owner that loves it, is beyond cruel. My daughter’s snake was left in the hands of a friend when she was deployed for a few months. She wasn’t told until she got back that her snake must’ve gotten away. She thinks her ‘friend’ sold the snake
Was her friend allowed to take the snake out of its enclosure? If not, then yeah it wouldn't make sense that the snake got away, unless there was a hole in the enclosure or something. Otherwise, maybe the snake really did somehow get away. If a pet got lost under my care, I would feel too guilty and scared to tell my friend about it. Especially when they're deployed, because I wouldn't want the sad news to distract them from their job.

Your snake has stuck shed, I recommend ditching the aspen ASAP! They need humidity at about 60% all the time, and higher during shed (upper 70s). I suggest using humidity retaining substrates such as cypress mulch, coconut husk or reptisoil! I use a combination of cypress and eco earth and it works great, highly recommend!
DON'T USE COCONUT HUSK. the dust can cause respiratory infections like it did on my corn snake my veterinarian told me to take him off of it ASAP.

Noodle sneez cuz fish not remove skin.
A humidity box also works well. Just get an enclosed hide, like a box with a hole in the top, fill it with substrate that holds humidity, and the snake will find it when it's time to shed.
@@peterleavitt4952 For higher humidity species however, they're unnecessary and do more harm than good. They are not a replacement for proper husbandry requirements, ball pythons need ambient humidity of 60 to 70% at all times in order to thrive. This basically renders humidity boxes useless. For more moderate humidity species, like corn snakes, it can help, but shouldn't be necessary unless during quarantine when you can't use humidity retaining substrate.

For anyone reading this that keeps their BP’S on aspen. Stop. Aspen doesn’t hold enough humidity so I recommend: eco earth, cypress mulch, forest floor, or a mixture of all three. These hold in humidity very well. Aspen does not and it even molds. You can see the snake has stuck shed to prove my point as well. If you’re going to house a bp on aspen, atleast give em a large enough humidity box and do some more research on how to keep bp’s. And always do research no matter how much you THINK you know. My dad is a perfect example of someone thinking they know their stuff but actually being wrong.

You don’t have to have a hudmitiy box, if you mist the tank once or twice a day it should be fine. I use aspen for my BP and he’s happy and healthy, I have a lot of fake plants and leaves that hold the humidity very well. I have foam on the wire top of the tank so most of it doesn’t escape. Aspen is the cheapest option, but it can work as long as the owner is careful to keep its humidity at the correct percentage. I did extensive research and as long as you keep the humidity up in some way, aspen can be used

So cute! I am sorry for your loss. I love snakes and other reptiles and always wanted one as a pet. Hearing something so pretty and cute died due to neglect makes me sad for the poor thing.

I had a ball python once, but she wasnt... smart, for sure. She just kinda ignored all food and turned into the pancake of death. Rip bassi
