The MJF babyface run is special because we all know it's transient and fragile. At some point, we will see the moment that tips him back into villainy, and it could happen on any given night.
@@ImGonnasayit I feel like there's a beautiful opportunity to have Adam "turn" on Max, not by attacking him or backstabbing him in the conventional sense, but by having another friend. If Max only has one friend, has only had one friend, what's he going to do when that friend starts acting buddy-buddy with someone else? It'd drive him mad. Why isn't he good enough, why does Adam need someone else, he already has Max, what more does he need?
A year ago, if someone had told me, "MJF will be one of the best babyface" then I would have laughed at them so hard. I could never imagine him as a babyface. But look at him now. His run is simply unbelievable. I love it.
He's doing it all, bringing in money, giving main event spots to people who didn't have it before and giving ppvs a brilliant reason to buy. I bought All In purely for MJF cole because he done his job so well
What's wild is that I've seen all the great heels eventually turn babyface at some point. But that's usually after many years of playing heel and coming back years to a nostalgia pop. MJF has managed to play the heel and face within just 4 years of being on television and damn near did it on his own. For such a young guy in the industry it's been amazing to see him literally tell us he's the fastest rising star in pro wrestling and actually backed those words up. As a HEEL. Already on a legendary run in the industry
I think this storyline is best encapsulated by the moment when Max and Adam each admitted to each other that they were originally planning on stabbing the other in the back. And then in the follow up moments when each of them (in turn) were expecting to be stabbed in the back (after a setback) and basically just offered themselves up as a target.....Only each of them to hug it out, instead. It's a compelling story because we all know how fragile the friendship/face-turn is, and how every small triumph is just pushing back the inevitable blow-up....
The great thing about the "Babyface" MJF is that he's not a one-dimensional character. Adam Cole may have brought out the best side of him, but Max still has his cheeky attitude and isn't afraid to play dirty when he needs to.
The key of MJFsuccess as a babyface, apart from his talent in both the acting and in-ring department changing the pace and selling in the matches, is probably how he still acts and feels like MJF: he will still try to cheat, use workarounds, hit under the belt during his promos, just in a more jovial manner and against heel opponents. I think it's something that also Danielson for instance does pretty well: he remains true to what defines his wrestling character, just pushing more some aspects over others based on his alignment. A Cena/Hulkamania Hogan-like babyface turn would have not worked for MJF, but I think we as an audience can buy his recent change, especially in the context of the storyline that caused the shift.
I am loving these storylines with clear context. B-Dan's motivation is to wrestle at a world class level for as long as he can, and he wants other hard hitters to come under his wing. You could put him against Christian Cage for a month over him hijacking the TNT championship and he's the face. Then next month he get's DQ'd for not releasing a hold on Orange Cassidy and starts fucking him up because he isn't a "real wrestler." BAM, heel but with no need to change the character or their motivations
I think when he cut that promo about the Triple B keeping him from "taking a handfull of pills and calling it a day" after the split with his ex,that's when he became more sympathetic.
Me personally I prefer MJF as a heel but I have enjoyed his run as a baby face. The chemistry between him and Adam Cole is great and their segments from the past few months have been entertaining. Who would of thought that MJF would be one of most beloved faces in wrestling.
I feel like it's a great way to freshen up his character and do something different. Only problem is, he didn't need any freshening. He's still young and on the rise and becoming an even better heel. I think they should have kept this babyface run in their back pocket for a more appropriate time. I don't want to complain too hard though, because it's been great.
I said it when he came back last year that he’s so over as a heel he’s eventually just gonna have to turn face, very reminiscent of The Rock and the way he turned face
The moment I realised that MJF was babyface surprised me. Heck, Cena's heel turn wouldn't surprise me half as much as MJF's turn did. It was super smoothly executed and the fact that he hasn't really shaved away too much of his character is the cherry on top. Props to Cole for being a great partner in the act. For me personally, MJF was the wrestler of the year because he was the one I couldn't look away from and always looked forward to. Great work as always, Tranq! I'm really glad for your coverage and perspective. 🤝

he is AEW , he is the face that the company needed for them to say that this is our guy , this is AEW. Apart from the other "4 Pillars" MJF is the center then arguably Darby, the other two is like meh for me.
Cole and MJF remind me of later relationship of HHH & HBK (after DX). That chemistry is very, very rare and to have two talents at the top of the card come together and elevate and enhance each other as a whole. I'm so lucky and blessed to see the later Era of HHH/HBK and now get MJF/Cole in my life time of Pro Wrestling as lightning hardly ever strikes twice! 💖
I was definitely in the camp last year that mjf should stay a heel but this story with Adam Cole was so good he actually got me to feel bad for him, and I’m really enjoying his face run “the people’s scumbag” gimmick is awesome and I’m happy to say I was dead wrong on this one
The best part about mjf is that he has explained everything along the way. Weve met his mom, we know who his wrestling heros were, why he did this and did that. He know that he was bullied. He did a great job at crafting his story or at least letting us know what hes about. We know when AEW goes to NY hes pretty much the king. Even if you wanted to hate him you couldnt. When youre overly authentic people may be jealous of you but they respect you
I would have never believed this if you told me a year ago. It's crazy to look back on him getting stuck with Adam Cole a few months ago and see them now. Some really great planning and a great slow build. I love it. He reminds me of Eddie guerrero
MJF is one of those wrestlers I pray for that they have success in their personal lives as well so we can be blessed with decades of entertainment. One of the worst things in the world is when you have a brilliant wrestler and they're taken from us too soon.
I remember during one media scrum, Jericho mentioned this. He revealed a tidbit of his and MJF's conversation about being a babyface one day. Jericho assured him that when that time came, he will know how to handle it.
For me the seeds were always there that MJF would make such a good babyface. Whenever AEW went to Long Island he would be a babyface-heel for the night and it was always so fun.
It will always be amazing to me that Max gets to have such a big story with Adam. Like if you look back through his social media to before he made it big he always talks about Adam being an inspiration to him
His babyface run is like The Rock faceturn and Austin faceturn. It wasn't that they changed, it was the circumstances that made people cheered them and that to me is how you make a heel into a babyface.
I’m shocked it worked, he really is that good. Dude is about to get the biggest contract of any wrestler under 30. And he’ll deserve it. AEW or WWE, the Devil will get his due.
I really started to notice this man's talent in 2020 with his rivalry with Moxley. He was the heel you wanted to see fail but he always slip away. He always made me wonder what if he was a face? He is one now but he didn't have a "turn". Could this be my WWE programmed brain talking, yes. But that's why I love AEW's storytelling, characters aren't just in these rigid roles, they're nuanced people. And THAT is where the best stories are told.
The greatest part about this run is that in every facet of it in particular he has laid true to his claims that he's always made in the past. He remains a special attraction, one that draws the crowd into a frenzy, puts on matches so good that people may even doubt particularly how good they can be, and is STILL this young, tenacious, and ruthless MJF that's dominated the competition through any means necessary. What's changed is a simple enough friendship that's differed his temperament but it all still relays to max being able to put out an undeniable star cementing performance every time he goes out. He is what he says he is to me, the best all around and especially in modern times, the quint essential professional wrestler
I think MJF is an example of the distinction between “face” and “babyface” Hangman is a “babyface”, can do no wrong and we love them for it, where Max and Cole are “Faces” they are not 100% pure but still good guys. Danielson is another face. Kind of like anti-heros.
MJF is well on his way to being a top 5 wrestler of all time. When AEW first started he was someone i latched onto immediately because of his promos. His mic skills pulled me in instantly, and now his ring talent is getting better and better. His "baby face" doesn't even feel like a 180 from his heel run. He's simply being himself and we love it that's all. I hope whoever he drops the tittle to is ready to fill in some big boots and is also worth investing in. They were clearly going for a Punk vs MJF pt 2 feud with Punk calling himself the "real champion". Honestly that would've been great, but now AEW has a opportunity to do something unique and original with his next feud. I wish AEW was building HOOK up so we can get MJF vs HOOK story going. IMO that would be up there with Austin vs Rock from the attitude era. AEW has the talent especially in those 2 to take wrestling to another level.
Hook is nowhere near ready for that. And coming from an aew fan comparing them two facing off to rock and Austin is laughable. Now if you said Kenny and Bryan Danielson at Arthur Ashe 1 felt like rock and Austin, however, I would agree
@@centristamerican7845 you didn't read my statement properly. MJF is already at Rock(Nation of Domination/Corporation)level. He's a Heel we love and is the people's a**hole. He is owning it. No one said if they did work right now it would be at Austin vs Rock's level.
Eh, I liked Hook when he debuted but after what is it now 2 years? The silent badass thing doesn't really cut it for me nor can I really buy it at his size, I think he can't cut promos and they're just doing their best to work around that but you can't carry main event programs like that
@@TAFKASYFY I'm not disagreeing with that at all. It only further proves my point that he's been under utilized and underdeveloped in his 2 years. He can definitely bulk up that's not an issue. His mic skills have not been measured yet so I can't agree or disagree.
If MJF turns on Adam Cole, it will be surprising but also expected. If Adam Cole turns on MJF, it would be tragic. MJF finally found someone who can proudly call his best friend, only to be betrayed, just like how MJF himself has done to many others before. A taste of his own medicine, the past that haunts you, your sins brought to light, karma, whatever terminology you want to use. Whether Adam Cole does it out of greed or misplaced loyalties, the fans might just cry when it happens. And it'll probably happen when you least expect it.
What an excellent observation. MJF is possibly the best heel in pro wrestling but as a babyface, he has to be the most unique of them all. I would equate him to an anti-hero. Technically a good guy but doesn't follow the rules of a good guy. Does everything his way. MJF became the man the old fashioned way. This is why the fans respect him so much. And he is excellent in the ring too. Thats the kicker. He is actually good in the ring. He talks the talk and walks it. Yiu always gotta respect that
I've been a wrestling fan since my childhood in the 1960's, growing up with the legendary Sam Muchnick's promotion in St. Louis. My first live wrestling card was in 1972 at Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis, with the main event a "fence match" (cage match) between Bruno Sammartino and the Invader (Dick Murdoch under a mask). MJF reminds me of Ric Flair from the late 1970's into the 1980's (pre-Four Horsemen). Despite Flair being the brash, loud and obnoxious heel, he was still cheered by a large segment of the fans regardless who he faced. When Flair defended the NWA title in St. Louis vs. Missouri and WWF Intercontinental champion Ken Patera at Kiel Auditorium, the crowd was solidly behind him, WITHOUT either Flair or Patera being turned babyface. MJF is this generation's Ric Flair, which he displays more and more as time passes.
Dude i cant wait for your next vid, especially now that AEW has a Rated R Superstar on their roster as a FULL TIME talent. Wrestledream ended on a CM Punk Debut level Euphoria. But with Edge. I feel like this "New Era" will be mostly positive things going forward and i am here for it.
He's in the same zone that guys like Macho Man, Piper, Flair, and Terry Funk were in, where there's constantly tension in everything he does because you never know where he's going to go. If he's a babyface, he's always a second from going heel again, and vice versa.
not my take but it feels like this is just a precursor to mjf’s actual babyface turn, he’s currently playing what feels like a caricature of a babyface or what max thinks and babyface should act like, his actual babyface turn he’ll probably play it more straight and less ott
The best part is the subtely of his face character, cause as shown with joe the samoan he still a freakin heel but he s so good at fooling everyone he s adored and most things flew under the radar
This has been one of the most surprising and refreshing storylines in wrestling for a long time. Each week gets better and better, yet we are all waiting for the shoe to drop as well. MJF is doing more Babyface tropes in the ring and Adam Cole is starting to do more heel tactics. They are both this perfect neutral blend.
It's rare now and days to have a compelling Babyface or one with depth but MJF once again proved even me wrong who thought he was a career long heel but man he's so good as this Babyface who acknowledged that it's a shark eat shark world but still leaving room for some trust here and there. I love how we love him for being a scumbag and he acknowledged that too. seriously he's just generational. I pray for a blessed future for this man because if bray Wyatt's passing taught us anything is life can be unexpected I am appreciative of what I have and what I seen. Bless you guys no matter what brand you support. Mjf easily is a living legend he's got everything you want in a wrestler to build around
At the start I thought mjf would turn on cole but now I would be surprised if by the end if cole isn't the one to turn on him having mjf stay babyface 😅
Question to the audience: who could be the challenger that will beat MJF for the title? In my opinion Orange could be the choosen one, but I'm not sure if now is the moment...
Orange is not yet ready (IMO), but if they build it up where Orange Cassidy digs deep just like when he beat Pac for the International Title that would be acceptable as well
I know where this should go if/when Cole turns on MJF. He should disappear for a short time, licking his wounds. Meantime,we see someone who secretly kept tabs on Max on the phone, texting, calling. But you don't see who...at first. Eventually it's revealed that a certain cowboy and The Devil himself struck up a friendship o er a common disdain for someone who probably won't be named on TV. Then Page wants to bring Friedman into The Elite, causing the next round of friction between Hanger and The Elite.
I thought everyone saying MJF would turn face were crazy AF. I Have been watching wrestling since the 1970's. I couldnt have booked this if my life depended on it. I will say that a hero with shades of grey is always the best way to go these days. People want Stone cold, not Bob Backlund ( no offense Bob ). This run is so good, I am afaraid what happens to Adam Cole if he turns on MJF. 2024 is gonna be a tough year for Tony Khan, he is gonna need to pay well to keep MJF. There is no way WWE isnt interested. The dude is must see TV. Great video Tranq!
i was there at grand slam, the whole place blew up like an austin pop when he came out. i was there to boo him out of the buliding like i tried to do for the past two times there.
I stopped watching wrestling in the early 2000s. Got drawn in on some Dalton Castle matches because he's hilarious, but MJF is the probably the only reason I tune in for.
Few wrestlers ever reach must see status. For fans, many have come close with must see matches but never found must see anytime on TV. For many of us, MJW is there now. Can he stay that way?
I honestly haven't seen an antihero rise like MJF since Stone Cold. AEW better make an awesome offer to him or WWE will back up the Brinks truck to get him.

A taste of his own medicine, the past that haunts you, your sins brought to light, karma, whatever terminology you want to use. Whether Adam Cole does it out of greed or misplaced loyalties, the fans might just cry when it happens. And it'll probably happen when you least expect it.
MJF is the best thing in wrestling by far. I've followed him since I first saw him live at an MLW show in Cicero, IL.
My guy, that last quote was chef's kiss 🤌🏼👏🏼
Dude i cant wait for your next vid, especially now that AEW has a Rated R Superstar on their roster as a FULL TIME talent.
Wrestledream ended on a CM Punk Debut level Euphoria. But with Edge.
I feel like this "New Era" will be mostly positive things going forward and i am here for it.
He's doing like an Eddie Guerrero but it's like the first mjf not a second coming of Eddie
MJF is a God. He really is
No one's on the level, as the devil.
Mjf is the perfect blend of Ric Flair and Roddy Piper, which is a credit to him and shows his love for the history of the wrestling business.
I always had an idea MJF could turn babyface using a love story … I had no idea it would be a bromance with Adam Cole but that works too 😂
He's in the same zone that guys like Macho Man, Piper, Flair, and Terry Funk were in, where there's constantly tension in everything he does because you never know where he's going to go. If he's a babyface, he's always a second from going heel again, and vice versa.
I'm a massive fan of MJF
Fan favourite despite cheating...screams Eddie Guerrero to me❤
I love him as a babyface right now. It's knowing he is just a one flip of a coin away from being a heel that's scary and exciting
not my take but it feels like this is just a precursor to mjf’s actual babyface turn, he’s currently playing what feels like a caricature of a babyface or what max thinks and babyface should act like, his actual babyface turn he’ll probably play it more straight and less ott
The best part is the subtely of his face character, cause as shown with joe the samoan he still a freakin heel but he s so good at fooling everyone he s adored and most things flew under the radar
Very well put together 👍
Beautifully put.
Sometimes wrestling brings friendships together
This has been one of the most surprising and refreshing storylines in wrestling for a long time. Each week gets better and better, yet we are all waiting for the shoe to drop as well. MJF is doing more Babyface tropes in the ring and Adam Cole is starting to do more heel tactics. They are both this perfect neutral blend.
Loved that outro "why be god when you can be the devil?"
i wonder how this is all going to play into the bidding war of 2024 storyline?
Such a smooth intro track
MJF has for sure grown and conquered durin his run in AEW. Lookin forward to what's next for him goin' forward.
A masterpiece of a video.
MJF is really set to be the face of AEW, Tony Khan would be a fool to let him walk next year.
I don't want them to ever break up
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing you he doesn't exist.
That promo when he turns heel is going to hit different. A you people promo but actually good and with the volume turned up to 11.
At the start I thought mjf would turn on cole but now I would be surprised if by the end if cole isn't the one to turn on him having mjf stay babyface 😅
I don't care if MJF is a Face or a Heel, he is such a fun and cool character!
Same!
I was hesitant to the idea of MJF being face, but somehow he is making it work so well
Question to the audience: who could be the challenger that will beat MJF for the title?
In my opinion Orange could be the choosen one, but I'm not sure if now is the moment...
Orange is not yet ready (IMO), but if they build it up where Orange Cassidy digs deep just like when he beat Pac for the International Title that would be acceptable as well
The comparison with Stifler is somehow hilariously accurate
MJF is on his way to being the BEST in the World. "Tell me when I'm Telling Lies" gotta thank Phil Brooks for that one.
Keep doing what you're doing I love your content
Don't be surprised if MJF turns. It kind of seems like they have everyone convinced he won't now, which makes me think he definitely will.
people arent ready to say it but mjf will be the most beloved wrestler since austin if he keeps this pace.
Pro Wrestler of the Year has to be either MJF or Will Ospreay at this point, right?
Easily
What's Good Valedor!
MJF will go down as one of the best to ever do it
I know where this should go if/when Cole turns on MJF.
Recently It felt like MJF was trying hard to get the crowd to keep hating him, the crowd knows how great he is and wanted to cheer for him badly
If Cole turns on MJF or MJF turns on Cole, this moment will create the biggest heel and biggest babyface in AEW in the blink of an eye.
He's so bloody talented.
Honestly I think it’s because Max is one of the few wrestlers today who makes people believe.
"the greatest thing the devil ever did, was making people think he didn't exist"
Fantasy Draft, start today, everybody on the table. First pick, MJF.
All praise the most high! Thank you Lord God for life
i was there at grand slam, the whole place blew up like an austin pop when he came out. i was there to boo him out of the buliding like i tried to do for the past two times there.
I stopped watching wrestling in the early 2000s. Got drawn in on some Dalton Castle matches because he's hilarious, but MJF is the probably the only reason I tune in for.
Great video brand new sub anyone gonna watch your documentary now
TK better pay MJF whatever it takes to stay with AEW in 2024. He has been a part of every notable feud in company history.
MJF can be great in any role since he is the ultimate pro wrestler
People keep saying that he’s gonna betray Adam at some point, or vice versa, but in the end, both refused to do that.
I still don’t look at this as a baby face run. It’s him using Cole pretending to be his friend like with Cody
AEW has the good workers in the wrestling business and that is😅
The strange thing is I could never get interested in MJF as he was. As a face he's grabbed my attention far more.
MJF ❤
Tranquilo Club, could you make a Eddie Kingston video about him Finally Beating Claudio and Winning the ROH World Championship
There're called tweeners. They get face pops while doing heel tactics. Jericho Flair Edge Orton the Outsiders.
Bro. Please post a clip of that intro. It's 🔥
MJF at this point to ne has reached a beautiful mix that I thought wouldn't be possible since THE GOAT Eddie Guerrero imo
