St. Thomas Aquinas had condemned communion in the hand. St. Aquinas has written clearly that only the hand of the consecrated hands of the Priest should touch the Sacred Host.
Thomas Aquinas explains that only the consecrated fingers of a priest should touch the host (Summa Theologiae IIIa, Q82, a3). In the East, leavened bread is consecrated, and soaked in the Precious Blood, and Holy Communion is distributed directly into the mouth with a spoon.
It's very easy to grab the holy host and put it in the pocket and walk out from the Catholic churches these days. Because the same church has allowed us to receive the most holiest host in hands without being watched if the person eats it or walks away with it. I myself caught many walking away with the holy host, especially during the Christmas midnight mass.
Communion on the hand should stop. Small particles of the host fall on the ground and are trampled upon. This is a desecration. How can you allow this ?
