I remember encountering that curio, I thought it was just a normal curio so I didnt use anything on it. But then just when I was clicking, I saw "Torch" in the description so I was like "oh no!". and then When I encounter it again...I used the torch and uh...my whole squad got wiped...
I activated it, ran, camped, walked right back into the battle because I thought it was one chance per quest, ran, camped, and walked into the battle again because I completely lost my bearings and thought the crossed swords and red square were for a regular battle. Then I ran away and abandoned the quest. Nobody died.
I got so scared when I saw the shamblers altar. Not even the cute animation could protect me. Apart from that it was adorable and I also loved the sound effects. I want to hug them all.
Most items have an effect on various curios. Antivenom can be used on trees in the Weald for extra treasure, torches are great for burning scrolls in the Warrens for a free negative quirk removal (NEVER USE A TORCH ON BOOKS!). Also, slightly unrelated, but if you have an Antiquarian with you, always use her to interact with treasure curios to get her unique stuff. I thought for a long time it was random chance with her in the party but nope, it has to be the Antiquarian doing the interacting.
