    I get tears in my eyes when you look at the camera and say, "Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty and learn something Old". It brings me back to when I was a child trying to do something scary and Mom would say don't be afraid, I am right here, just give it a try. I am pretty sure at this moment I could do anything! Well... you get my point. ;-) Pure Inspiration.

    I dehydrate & powder my fire cider solids & I've seen lots of comments online that other people do also & use the powder as seasoning spice, in salad dressings or in capsules. My son mixes the powder with juice & takes it instead of the extract. Only reason I haven't freeze dried it is bc I don't have a freeze drier.

      I was wondering, however, if anything "valuable" is left in the scraps? I thought they'd be pretty much spent, and all the good stuff is in the vinegar? So maybe for seasoning, but not so much therapeutically?

    Have you guys thought about getting your fire cider (liquid) and these powder capsules tested for nutritional value? This would be really interesting to see how much nutrients the cider liquid and pressing has pulled from the fruit/herbs itself. This could be a big seller if you went down that route.

    Made your fire cider recipe and pressed it off today after 6 weeks steeping. We then dried the scraps and ground into a powder. It’s beautiful! So full of flavour! Citrusy and spicy! Now to figure out what food to use it on. Chicken… fish, like a blackened fish spice maybe? Love love your show, ladies! Keep up the great work!

    I found out the hard way about storing fire cider in the fridge. Everyone had access to it and oftentimes, the outside of the jar was not wiped after use meaning sometimes, it dripped down the jar eventually, making a hole in the shelf. Putting the jar in a plastic bag or container before storing it in the fridge would have been a much better idea 😁

    I've been dehydrating mine (combination of oven first then food dehydrator) and grinding into a powder. I use it on just about everything from roasted chicken to potato salad. Everyone loves it and it has a delicious citrusy, mildly spicy kick. The only problem is that it takes days to dehydrate and I have to grind it in small batches. The entire time, the fumes waft up and burn my eyes and throat! It is potent stuff! I've been using it for a little over 6 months and wondering if any of my lab work will improve once I'm tested again... We shall see!
    Follow-up 3 months later: Just got lab results and every single one of my "bad" numbers has improved (cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, etc), not just a little but a lot! I am not a medical professional and do not proclaim this is the reason, but... The only other thing I've changed in my diet or habits is I've increased my natto intake and have a shot of fire cider with each batch (twice per week minimum).

    • @ChristineN1
      @ChristineN1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was going to comment and ask if this could be done in a dehydrator. I'll have to try it your way once my batch is ready.

    • @kmosker
      @kmosker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@ChristineN1 The reason I have to use the oven first is due to shear volume. It shrinks in size as it dries out. My dehydrator isn't big enough to do the whole batch at the beginning. Enjoy!!!

    I think making a capsule is a wonderful idea, and OMG to use it as a spice makes my mouth water for some good "Fire Cider Chicken." I am always trying to find ways to use up every bit of our kitchen waste, whether it be to compost it or find other ways. I have turned our tomato skins into tomato powder and some of our habaneros and Jalapenos into a powder so far and want to try lots of other things. I am pretty excited now that gardening season has begun and have spent the better part of winter watching videos and taking notes on what I think I am able to do pretty easily. I bought myself an encapsulator and some veggie capsules and plan to make for my own personal use some of the recipes I have taken notes on. I don't have a freeze dryer as they are just too expensive for my budget still, so I either dehydrate everything or I dry it in the sun and breeze. I just love your channel, thank you so much for all you do. Many Blessings to you both and may you always have good health, safety, and prosperity in all you do. God Bless ~SuzyJC_05.13.2022~

    I freeze dried and also powdered. It's been sitting in a jar on the shelf....didn't even think to put it into capsules.

    This is very cool! I’m gonna try it. I usually put my scraps in the compost bin. Thanks for sharing!

    Very few people have a freeze dryer, or access to use one, but cool you can do this. Kinda anti climatic knowing I can't do this, but that's my 'problem' haha, onto another vid. Thanks for all you do.
