The only thing that got rid of my toe fungus and I tried several very expensive topicals was medication. It completely cleared it up

What medication did you take? If you don’t mind sharing.

@@fortune04511 I wish I could remember the name of it but I don't. All I know is you need to get a liver test done before you take it I'm sure any foot doctor knows what it is. But I will tell you at 100% cleared it up I've had it for years nothing worked except for this

First things first- remove all sugar/carbs from diet, file nail regularly, use tea tree oil once or twice a day(avoid skin), walking and sunlight!!!

1:10 what if the nail clipping is negative for fungus, twice, but dermatology still says it's fungus based on visual exam and prescribes oral terbinafine? How can 2 different tests, including histology and culture, and KOH prep be negative?

Visual exam is unreliable for diagnosing onychomycosis. A number of nail conditions including trauma to the root of the nail, trauma to the bed of the nail and pressure on the nail itself can all lead to thickeing of the nail. Trust the lab test - not the visual exam.

So basically if you have toenail fungus you have about a 50/50 chance of getting rid of it just so eventually it comes back. So basically you’re most likely stuck with it for life. lol

Well, yes. It's possible that if you are careful at preventative techniques (see link below) you can prevent the return, but we don't have any studies show how effective the techniques are.

Well wait, if its not fungus what else can it be?

    • @Footankle

Trauma to the nail matrix, trauma to the nail bed, psoriasis, microtrauma to the nail itself from shoe pressure, decreased circulation and drug induced reactions are a few of the other causes of thick toenails.
