Im a 55 year old african american that grew up listening Hall and Oats. I still have a lot of Hall and oats music in my music collection. Music back in the days was classy and was about love.
Daryl Hall & John Oates are often cited as one of the most underrated musical duos in pop music history. Despite their numerous chart-topping hits and enduring influence on the music industry, they don't always receive the same level of recognition as some of their contemporaries. Their seamless blend of rock, pop, and soul has left a lasting impact, and their catchy melodies and smooth harmonies have a dedicated fan base. Whether it's their classic songs like "Maneater," "Rich Girl," or "You Make My Dreams," Hall & Oates have carved out a unique place in the history of music. They may not always get the credit they deserve, but their music continues to be loved by fans all over the world
There was a quiz question a while ago asking what the best-selling duo was, and apparently it's H & O. They cranked out mega-hit album after album. So maybe people these days don't give them the credit they deserve, but they had and have a ton of fans.
More like Daryl Hall and some easily replaceable flunkies... Hall is the only talent in this group. That bum Oates suing Hall pretending to have any day over the catalog.... That guy is such a joke!
1984. I was 10 years old, in Sacramento, and my parents got me a Walkman for a birthday gift (just a radio walkman, not even one with a cassette player). I was happy as clam. I remember the sun had just gone down and I was out on our front porch. I put on the headphones, tuned the Walkman to my favorite radio station, and this was the song that was playing. Still, to this day, 40 years later, whenever I hear this song, it brings me back to that moment. Thank you, Hall and Oates, for making such great music.
I was 8 when Roseanne came out I was living across the street where I live now its been an amazing journey and to this day hall and oats do take me back.
@@thisisalisonlo you’re welcome. Happy to share and thanks for the reply. I’m sure I listened to tons of other music on that Walkman but, for some reason, this was the only song that stuck to my memory all these years. Maybe it was because I really liked this song hearing it on the radio a few times, but, since it was the very first song I heard with my new Walkman and listening to it on the earphones sounded really crisp and clear, it was almost like I was able to appreciate it much much more.

Daryl Hall's vocals are brilliant, along with the amazing harmonies. Hall & Oates has been one of my favorite bands going back to my childhood. Now, at 50, I'm appreciating even more subtleties in this music. I'm a drummer, but I can't say enough about Tom "T-Bone" Wolk's bass lines. They are so freakin' creative, tasteful, and musically perfect.

Hall and Oats is pure magic! Daryl Hall is the of the few men that can make me swoon with a mullet lol. I love the adlibbing towards the end of the song.
There's a small Cafe named Hall & Oates in my small town in Korea. Their coffee tastes really good. I asked the owner why the name Hall & Oates? He said his father (now about my age in 50's) loved the Hall & Oates music and he grabbed the recordings of them and also became very fond of the songs hence the cafe name came. My wife bought me a coffee from there today and I'm listening to the songs played by the legend duo. :)
I have a sweet memory of this song. My boyfriend in college....we were sitting in the cafeteria finishing up our dinner. This song came on and he says to me, "I wanna play one-on one with you tonight." Me and all my innocence at the time! :)
Most of 1982 was ruled by the Private Eyes album and tour; H20 itself was released in November '82, and this single was released in late January of '83.
1st heard this song in 83' . I was 8 yrs old. Driving around Belle Isle in Detroit. My uncle was babysitting my brother and I. He had a new girl he was attempting to impress. One of the most beautiful songs they ever recorded Period🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾❤️❤️❤️❤️
My favorite Hall and Oates song of all time. I always feel confident whenever I play this song
Hall and Oats is pure magic! Daryl Hall is the of the few men that can make me swoon with a mullet lol. I love the adlibbing towards the end of the song.
😂😂😂😂
Agree, I swear he is the best ad libber ever. His voice is so beautiful.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣......SWOOOOON!!!
Yes!!! I played bass in the band
That is so awesome!❤❤❤❤❤🥹
Yes I'm listening in 2024... Brings back the music that I used to listen to in high School
I have a sweet memory of this song. My boyfriend in college....we were sitting in the cafeteria finishing up our dinner. This song came on and he says to me, "I wanna play one-on one with you tonight." Me and all my innocence at the time! :)
I was seven years old. Darryl hall, his pompadour and his perfect pitch and blue eyed runs were everything to me in 1982.
It seemed like forever this song went on. I hated this song for years after that. FF 20 yrs, one of my fav songs ever!! Thanks uncle Tony❤❤❤
I grew up 2 this & met my wife laurie when I was 13, & still together. Thanks 2 YAHUWAH the almighty heavenly Father.
Those guys were something else!! Can't be duplicated!
The most magnificent duo ever. Love them soooo much
