- Join me in Wales on my Honda CB500x for a tour around Snowdonia National Park.
Starting at the Conwy Falls Cafe, near Betws-y-Coed, I make my way along the B4407 towards Ffestiniog before starting a loop around the Snowdonia Mountain range.
Riding along the A4085 and looping back on the A4086, Llanberis pass, finishing up at Snowdon View Point.

I can intimately attest to the cold, wet conditions and stunning beauty of the region depicted in your video- having ridden almost exactly the same route on my Dawes Galaxy in 1978 (up and over at Pen Y Pass with a welcome break at ‘Clanberris’ before riding on to Caernarfon). Unfortunately Mount Snowdon was completely hidden. Now, 44 years later, I prefer to sit astride the saddle of my gorgeous 2021 Honda CB 500x (Grand Prix red) and letting it do all the work - half a world away in a state ‘down under’ where the words ‘snow’ and ‘mountain’ refer to unknown concepts. Thank you for the great video.
Thanks for the great footage that captures the atmosphere of exploring the Snowdon area by bike. I did a short camping tour of Wales last year on my CB500x and the Llanberis Pass was a highlight. I agree with your observations about the bike in your review video and also appreciate its real world performance and great fuel economy. I find it pulls well even loaded up with luggage and my wife finds riding pillion very comfortable. For those considering buying a good all round bike, like you, I believe that the middleweight Honda is a very good option. Cheers from Devon!
Fantastic!!
Enjoyed the scenery. Thanks mate!
I have a week's holiday in mid October and was thinking of a visit to N Wales, an area I used to live and know well. Great footage and once again, you have captured some excellent vistas. I was stationed on Anglesey many, many years ago!
Absolutely stunning film! Incredible views!
Awesome footage, you got great weather for it.
Looks good, another one on my list lol
I watched your video again :)
Nice roads,a wee bit like parts of Scotland.
Crackin little jaunt there mate. All that bloody traffic............where was it.apart from the sheep. Like the bike too - just sold my trusty old beemer 1100R and the CB500X is on my list to consider as a replacement, along with the NC750, and also, believe it or not.......the Forza 300 scooter.
The other two have storage capacity in abundance but the CB500X doesn't - I suppose I could make do with a top box ( had them on all my previous bikes).
Is there anything you really don't like about your bike - be interested to know what you think.
Cheers
Steve
The bike is awesome. Every bike has a few niggles if you keep it long enough. For road it’s all I would ever need. The only thing I’d like is a gear indicator and a bigger front wheel, for the trails. Both these issues have been addressed on the 2019 onwards models. With a few mods you can take it anywhere. I use either a top box, tank bag or a GL coyote bag depending upon application. The NC750 was in contention for me when I was looking at bikes. Love the idea of the boot. If I was solely using the bike on the road for touring and commuting it’s a serious contender. Very smooth but different engine characteristics. I love my CB500x and I’m glad I chose it over the 750, I wanted to be able to take the bike off-road and the 500 just suited me better.
@@andrewstewart106 Thanks - I don't do off roading.....at least not on purpose..lol!!
I'd be looking at buying one secondhand with some extras on it if I could - larger screen and handguards and top box if possible - what sort of mpg and tank range are you getting?
Steve
I get around 220 miles before the last fuel marker starts blinking, around 30 miles ish after that. The bike is currently showing 71.4 mpg, but that is with low gear trail riding too. A couple of years ago when I toured Scotland’s North Coast it was mid to high 70’s.
@@andrewstewart106 Thanks - keep the videos coming - I saw your other ones on the Hardknott and Wrynose passes - a few yrs ago I did a day trip from where I live (west oxon) up to ride those passes along with a few others - on the bike I had at the time which was a 1200 RT - I rode over 500 miles that day - crackin day out.
I went to school in Keswick for three yrs as a boarder and loved every minute of it - climbed Scafell pike several times and swam across Derwentwater too.
Happy days!!
Safe riding.
Steve
What a great ride, how far is that from home?
Only a couple of hours.
