You did such a wonderful, charming take on this video! So fun to watch!!! I owned two Gremlins when I was young! 😊 they didn't cost much! I write and read a lot, and love booktube. While we do love books, we have other interests too. Music 😁 the everyone interest! And, I love that music can recall happy memories!
Early MTV was the best. And those heavy Walkmans. Mine was silver. I saw the Cure at the Warner Theater in DC in the mid 80s. They were taping the show for the King Biscuit Flour Hour so there were all these delays but it was great. My first concert was Psychedelic Furs but the first huge stadium type show was Pink Floyd.
I had the exact same Walkman! It was so heavy but that didn't stop me from dragging it everywhere! Oh, Psychedelic Furs... that's a great one. I never got to see Pink Floyd.
The Police was my first too - I still clearly remember my childhood bedroom with the giant poster. And The Cure was one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen. You have excellent taste!
Great description of The Cure concert! I'm envious. I had their In Orange video cassette that I'd watch over and over, but I never got to see them live😌
It was a 1973 Club Green Chevrolet Vega Station Wagon 4 cylinder 5 speed with faux Woody panels. The seats were black and green narrow stiched chevron pattern. It had an 8 track stereo player. I designed it myself and custom ordered it. It was bought during the 83-74 Arab Oil embargo. I traded the Mustang in.😢 You also danced to Sly...
It was fun to take a trip down memory lane with you in this video. A lot of my formative memories were made in those same venues. I got to relive my favorite concerts while listening to your stories.
Loved your answers. I carried a Cure poster with me all over France in summer of 1986 when I bought it there on vacation. Agree that there are so many genres and so many songs that could give different answers all the time ….😊. “Soulshine” by Gov’t Mule/Allman Brothers Band is song that moves me.
Fun video! We are close to the same musical age lol -- my loves spanned many genres from the Grateful Dead to The Rolling Stones to The Cure to Squeeze... and so much in between! Have you seen Summer of Soul? I feel like I may have suggested it to you before lol ... also recently watched Squaring the Circle: The Story of Hipgnosis -- it was SO interesting! I didn't come to love Pink Floyd until well past my teens but it is just super interesting and nostalgic for anyone of us who collected albums and/or are interested in design and music. Highly recommend!
Liz, I love all those bands! Squeeze especially has a lot of meaning for me. You did recommend Summer of Soul and I haven't seen it yet! Now I've got two cool things to watch!
I enjoyed your responses to the Tag. My band is The Beachboys; my song is Simon & Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence. I don't really have any memories of them to share; the 1960s were a long time ago. Kay
I was happy to see a new video from you and I said to myself, “I look forward to watching “Evening Reader” later tonight but I should get a few things done, first.” Then I noticed the “Synchronicity” album in the thumbnail and just had to drop everything to watch right away. 😄

Thank you for creating the tag! It was a lot of fun!
This tag is right up your alley. You were the person to introduce my 70's ears to all that was magical about the 80's music.
😍

Sounds like we both have excellent taste! I, too, had a giant Police poster. 🙂

Perhaps you'll still get to see them!
Great video! This was a lot of fun to listen to, especially the bit about taking cassettes everywhere because I was the same, haha.
Yes, always had to have a selection!

Ah yes, so many shows at Reunion Arena especially...and then there was Starplex.

Songs are wonderful because we carry them with us and they always have meaning. 🙂

You've got your priorities in order! 🙂
