    yes this is exactly how utility transformers are made, hand work bits of wood and card, the only difference in the ones made in the UK was the connections were welded not twisted together especially the high current connections

      welding would be safer and less time consuming...unprofessionnal, because high current in a poor contact creates HEAT

      Там площадь этой скрутки - мое почтение. По госту низя - но работать в масле это будет. А качество сборки - вы видели, он даже бортики у обмоток делал. Явно не первый раз и все ок.

      я думаю что нужно внедрять подошву от тапочек,изолятор хороший,трусов я так понимаю пара пошла,резинкой он трубочки завязывал.Про шину напоминать не буду,в начале видео видно как счетчик просто на столбе висит,под дождем,пофиг,в принципе это и побудило досмотреть виде до конца.

    I salute the person who removed the transformer from the pole. Very skillfully done. Then transported to an equally primitive workshop where conditions are not only bad but nonexisting. How can one work in such conditions is a subject of research. Let alone repairing a transformer. You guys are INCREDIBLE. And at last hats off to the person who shot the video. Good job done.

      Посмотри на "предохранители" по ВН в начале - странно что вообще не рвануло как следует. Плюс внутри наверное смесь отработанного моторного масла, воды и грязи :)

    Fascinating, yet i am puzzled with the work. Back in the 1980's I worked for a company (Emerson Electric) that built power systems large enough to power small cities. They used to wind their own transformers and the biggest miss I saw in the video is how they spliced their connections. The splices and connections should always be arc welded and not twisted together. Also, some of their insulation methods would lead to a short-lived operation. Much more varnish goes into production transformers. The Iron core would also be bettered with a welded core instead of sheet metal bound by a couple of I-beams. Still I am impressed.

      Seems they are using Aluminum wires. Probably no facility to weld aluminium wires. That is why the long twist. Once the exposed wires start to oxidize, they will fail.

    This transformer isn't going to last long as the 11kV windings are not staggered and enameled aluminum wire is used instead of copper...

    You should have soldered the connections on the windings, remember there's a lot of current passing through those windings and twisting them together isn't good enough!

    Those workers definitely work hard and know what they are doing good work in very difficult environment. Disconnecting the 11KV feed made me shudder though, thankfully everything was dry at the time.

      They shut the supply from feeder grid first before disconnecting the 11kva wires. Also they do no work in rain.

    You know what. A number of us commentators, me included, deride the "primitive" work methods shown in so many of these videos. However, there is one quality which comes through every time.......their "can do" attitude. Jobs we softies from the Western world would dismiss out of hand, they tackle with unbounded enthusiasm. These guys don't sit on their butt waiting for handouts, or play the perpetual 'victim'. No, these guys are hard working, resourceful and innovative. I salute them.

      great,but they obviously never seen OSHA in their lives. this job ( the removal n replace part) is easy for us( I am a retired HV lineman here in the Northeast.)is easy enough on a nice day with a 20' steel tower. Try it at night in the rain on a 45' pole,oh and let's add a bit of wind and maybe 40° to that. And the guys in our refurb shop would have done the rehab in less time with a lot more reliability. NEXT!

    These people are actually as good as a good engineer if we speak about the specific work they are doing. A recent engineer graduate will have a very hard time to fix something like this. And they know a lot better about transformers than recent graduate students.
    Did you notice that the guy carefully placed two extra Kraft papers each on both sides of the copper wire join, he knows exactly what he is doing. 👍

      In the developed world you wouldn't fix it. You would replace it with another one from the depot and ship the busted one back to the manufacturer for defect investigation or just recycle it.

      All transformers in the United States that are destroyed get recycled. All transformers that reach their maximum allowed service hours get rebuilt and DERATED. Anyone that thinks an unrepaired and not rebuilt transformer is out back into service should never be a sparky.

    It's good but for the connections. Brazing the connections is better to avoid resistive contacts & hence prevent excessive I2R losses.

    Watched my dad rewire many armatures and staters when I was a kid. My older brothers cooked and stripped them and took the copper to the wrecking yard. They got to keep what they made.

    Aqui no Brasil tem tanta norma de segurança que as vezes fica até difícil trabalhar , aí os caras de chinelo e sem nenhum equipamento de segurança e tudo braçal.

      That reminded me when I was contracted to do a repair in a company work shop and had to wear safety glasses which wear constantly steaming up so I could not see what I was doing, so refused to use them the job did not need safety glasses any way just typical company red tape.

    Ремонтируют быстро. За день и сделали. У нас бы люди без света сидели месяц а то и больше. Качество конечно никуда не годиться. Вон сколько трансформаторов стоит на ремонте.

      Да ладно, не знаю где вы живёте, но на Смоленщине если вышла из строя трансформаторная подстанция сразу туда тянут генераторы, и подключают потребителей. И ремонт ТП производится в любое время суток.

    An incredible amount of hard work, skill, craftsmanship and patience, I'm impressed! Individually stacking those laminations for the core's yoke must have been tedious, impeccable patience. Roughly how many hours did this full refurbishment take?

    0:31 - wires instead of fuses...gee, I wonder why the transformer got torched...also, the tower is bent with some of the braces broken. I understand money is tight here, but you can definitely afford to fix this. And to put the meter in a box.

      @@ALEKSANDOR5 Не было там меди. Все трансформаторы такого размера намотаны алюминием. Исключение может составлять какое-нибудь особо ответственное оборудование или научно-исследовательские установки.
