I want to thank you for being a large part of the inspiration to do something that a year ago I’d have never dreamed of doing. I did my first overnighter on top of a local mountain. I used a lot of the things I’ve learned from your channel and some things from my days in the Boy Scouts. Talk about a confidence and morale boost. You are making a difference.
God yes, I can't wait til this channel hits 500K and beyond. Outstanding. And man oh man did those look like some delicious chili dogs, your cooking never ceases to amaze me.
I really appreaciate that you do a S L O W scan of your gear, the surroundings, etc. and it's not fastjerky and makes you want to barf. Great camera work!!!
Man, my only problem with a debris shelter would be the image, right before I fell asleep, of *precisely* how many spiders and centipedes I just re-located from their happy homes on the forest floor, to 12" above my face.
I teach our Scouts each fall as part of the "Wilderness Survival Merit Badge" making a debris shelter, water purification, making fire without matches or lighters. They learn to be more self confident in the outdoors with less resources. Great video! Keep'em coming Shawn!
Epic! Two of the best tips ever with water filtration and genius on a megamind scale for getting you bottle out if the coals. Corp simply is the actual dude.
I am celebrating my 59th birthday and it amazes me how many things I have had to give up in life, either for health reasons or because I happened to stumble onto a job that is part of the 'essential infrastructure', requiring mandatory overtime and 6 day weeks. I do a lot of vicarious stuff through the Corporal because I just don't have the time yet to indulge my bushcraft passions. And If I had those amazing chili dogs, I would not only have heartburn that makes you wonder if it isn't the 'big one' , but also be digging a real deep latrine. So I really enjoy watching Corp eat what I used to eat. Man, I feel like a food stalker or something! But after a long week + this is always something I look forward to. Subscribe, hit like, watch all the way through. Be respectful of the work and effort it takes to submit these week after week.
Betaine HCl. One or two with any meal and heartburn is a thing of the past. Had acid reflux since I was a kid, until my dentist turned me on to betaine. BTW Happy Birthday.
Cpl Kelly, 1SG AB here. Ft Dix reception station Jan '76, first Army meal ever, hot dogs & baked beans. Fast forward 32 yrs TIS, last meal before retirement, hot dogs & baked beans. This F'ing Army's alright. Carry-on...
Love it I campout like that some times . Hay I always make a keyhole firepit so I have coals to cook on and I have a fire to make me feel good about the night for light.
@Karl Schubert I have to bust your nuts a little. Yeah. I made a shelter out of bamboo and ran plastic I found lying around and put leaves on top to keep it weighted down. I also cut some old planks from an old hog pen from the previous owners and made an elevated cot so I got something to keep me off the ground and out of the water if it rains. I've never slept in a hammock like that before. How are they?
There's no way in God's creation I could lay down for more than a few seconds after munching out on a plate of heart burn like that! Bacon! Chilli! Cheese! Burp...burp , and that gourmet coffee, you really are a trooper!
Love watching your clips. Hope you are safe from the fires over there. We had our hands full with them earlier in the year here in Australia. Stay safe everyone. ❤🇦🇺👍
Great shelter. My forests all burning here in CA, and our sagacious leaders have closed all public land to the public. I appreciate watching you, gives me a virtual experience when I can't get a real one. I always look up before I camp. That stuff is on the ground because it comes from above.
Corporal, you are one outstanding teacher! I've made it a habit to watch your overnighters on Mondays while eating my dinner. I get so much inspiration from your videos. Thank you :)
This looks like a reasonably quick way to make a low-profile/almost stealth shelter with available resources. When I was in my early teens (just after the glaciers retreated...), my friends and I used to make vaguely similar shelters using dead limbs and leaf-litter. They held a lot of warmth and, with enough leaf litter, would keep out a modest rain. This type shelter will work. Thanks for the video.
great video, it's between camping and survival. but is fun too. if you didn't like it you wouldn't do it. l will keep watching and thank you. stay safe.
took your advice & got out of the house during the pandemic & went into the woods. ending up camping 3 times & loving each experience. love the content. hope your staying safe & healthy along with your loved ones.
Every hiker brings a "luxury" item. The Corporal's is bacon, cheese and some kind of meat. Would love a video on how to deal with insects and wildlife. I bet you deal with ticks without needing to think about it.
I love you too. I think of you every time I am in the woods. I watched your video "knots & latches" I use it every day just about. I plan to get my kids to watch it with me tomorrow. Keep trucking on.
Gotta love the "Turd Ferguson" pose!😂 nice debris shelter. Don't you ever worry about ticks, mosquitos and spiders while sleeping exposed like that? The chili cheese bacon dogs looked great! take care.👍🏕
Reminds me of the rolling hills in SC, NC, TN, and VA, spent a lot of time around fires creek nc, reliance tn, truly the land of milk and honey just fishing creeks and moving the camp
I have watched 99% of your videos now from the Gym destruction to this one Love them all. I thank you for bringing my love for nature back you and others have reopen the filing cabinet of my knowledge for nature. I'm a 10 year Army Vet from 1976 to 1986 so this Buck Sargent (E5) salutes the Corporal. Thank you for your service and your videos. All I can say is Oscar Sierra (out standing) thumb is always up.
Had to pause the video, to check my suunto compass to the sun. Playing with what I learn from your knowledge and daylight savings. Pretty darn accurate. Thank you brother. Keep it up. We are just Boy Scouts that never grew out of being Boy Scouts.
Those chili dogs look delicious. That fish looked big, would definitely put up a fight if you try catching it. With reference to the email's. Guy's go to the spam folder select the sender email address as a recognised or know ID and u should get notification in your inbox.
Funny looking forest you have, with almost no undervegetation. Just dry dirt. Our forest in Finland are totally different. Ground covered with moss and all sorts of vegetation so it´s like a green mat.
As Always Another Outstanding Video Brother. The Hotdogs Look Amazing Made Me Hungry The Shelter Build Was Awesome Love To Conserve Resources When Ever Possible. Was Also Wondering If You Could Do A Video On How You Pack Your Gear In The Savota To Evenly Distribute The Weight. Keep Up The Good Work And Stay Safe Out There. OORAH & SEMPER FI Brother
A sign in option on corporalaf.com would be nice. That way we are a member of the community. And also, you can monitor the traffic. Win for us, win for you. This is by far my favorite channel on the Tube!!!!! You and little, big dude keep up the awesome work!!!!!!!...LOVE IT!!!!
"Another beautiful day in the woods " Sunday is Bush-Day, Happy Bush-Day ! Great episode as always. Pretty slick the way you removed the disinfected water container and I must say something about those chili-dawgs.. They were Corporal and Bacon AF !!! Those close-up shots had me salivating !
Corporal, I live in Louisiana, and the water sources here are silty. The color of strong tea and nasty tasting. Would you demonstrate how you would filter it if you didn't have a commercial water filter? Also how would you get around the fishy taste?
AWWWWW We love you too. Hey, I camped out in my garden over the Labor Day Weekend, in a one person backpacking tent I picked up at Walmart...the last tent they had. It was wonderful. Sleeping on the ground is medicine in my opinion. It wasn't exactly "Big Agnes," the tent I used to have, but at least the neighbors were spared the sight of my "Down Fill Country" sleeping bag and me.
So I introduced my girlfriend to your videos and she’s a big fan. Watching this video you plugged your influencer pages and she looked at me and said “Christmas shopping is going to be so easy for you.....sorry easy AF” appreciate everything you do man, keep up the incredible work and we’ll keep watching and supporting how we can
Another great video, corporal! Glad to see a different type of shelter. Something to think about for upcoming videos since you typically use a tarp; there are a TON of different tarp shelter configurations. Maybe use some of those other configurations rather than the traditional lean-to that seems to be your favorite. Pretty much everyone knows of the lean-to and the A-frame. Maybe utilize the plow-point, the Holden tent configuration, the Adirondack, etc. Keep up the great work! Can't wait for the online classes.
Another outstanding production! Sounds like you’re busy AF, a good thing. I have another consideration to put on your list: create a pocket size shelter guide for carrying in a backpack. Your list of shelter types and construction tips is worthy of being more than a memory from a video. It’s easy to think of the right shelter type when things are going well and your head is clear. But get bogged down with an injury or unexpected situation and a pocket shelter guide would be a life saver. I’d buy it.
Steve - I’m having to resist the urge to get a first draft together. If I wasn’t working on another project I probably would just do it and make a shared Google Doc or something.
Thank you Shawn for A informative video on making a emergency shelter with minimal amount of tools or equipment. Be safe, stay healthy, God Bless everyone. Love your channel.
Week in, week out. I'm here mate. The entire video, every commercial, every time. Scoff looked great as always and the debris shelter was a win. Nice. Now, shit shave shower and chill until next time.

Love the channel I appreciate all the info you share. I look forward to Sunday afternoons to see what you've done each week. One question though, how do you keep snakes from trying to cuddle with ya? In my area snakes are a concern a majority of the year and they are what keep me in a tent and not using tarp shelters.
Oooh yes, hot n humid here next to London too man, sweating like Michael Barrymore at a pool party. Those bacon and chili dogs look lovely, save some for me, no cheese on mine mate. Love the debris shelters and huts, awesome camouflage. The videos that always catch my eye are the ones, that can be used in combat situations....where stealth, staying dry and warm, being not only comfortable, but actually being at home in natural surroundings, with no-one knowing where you are, even though they're almost on top of you and still not able to spot you
Corporal there are so many comments I would like to make about this video but I understand I must keep it short so again outstanding AF if you want some good coffee try Black Rifle coffee company they are owned and operated by former military members nothing like a cup of AK-47 to wake you up in the morning😆😆😆👍
I'm not sure I understand your last comment I always want your videos I always enjoy your videos however if you think I was disrespectful in some way I will refrain from making comments from now on has always going from thank you for your service
That’s how I make my shelters, low. Also, I tend to make them ‘inside’ a shrub or tree. Using that vegetation as part of the shelter and camouflage of course.

Hey mate, with your website, let your website developer know to update the favicon so that it replaces the Wordpress icon next to the URL on webpages.
Outstanding! Minimalist AF! Always look forward to and enjoy your videos, Corporal! Keep up the great work!!
I like watching your vids dude

Btw I recorded a video and uploaded it to my channel. Please feel free to watch if you have time.
Fall is coming... low humidity, no bugs, perfect temps. I'd rather be out all night, than in the house... can't wait for fall vids too!
This is the way. Protect the kid, and master the rising phoenix.
God yes, I can't wait til this channel hits 500K and beyond. Outstanding. And man oh man did those look like some delicious chili dogs, your cooking never ceases to amaze me.

Another great video.
Maybe you can do a mid week video on ticks. Prevention, Maintenance, Removal, Lyme disease, CDC mapping .
Was thinking the same, perhaps with a word on mosquitoes.
It never hurts to reiterate good habits with water safety and purification. Another great video. Thanks.

Hidden shelters are my favorite ones, just because of how stealth they are, and you could also dig down, make the place Bigger without being spotted
I’m a City Slicker vicariously living through your channel. Thanks!
Loved the new water bottle retrieving tool... outstanding 😉👍🏼🔥
I like it when you do these natural types of shelters, gives good ideas to try 😃, looking forward to the trip back to do some fishing 🎣🤙🤙🤙
my favorite part of sunday is here, watching corporals corners latest video...cheers.
Love it I campout like that some times . Hay I always make a keyhole firepit so I have coals to cook on and I have a fire to make me feel good about the night for light.
Another excellent video. You make my Sunday's better😁 Thanks for always giving good tips for those of us that are not nature savvy. Have a great week.
The corporal is exceedingly clever and very resourceful! Lots of good info here! His diet, however, leaves much to be desired.
Corporal doing some bushcraft! Outstanding Sunday!
Thank you for making this awesome video. I love finding debris and making a shelter from that
@Karl Schubert well we can't all live in mansions Karen...

Here every week, no skipping anything, learning and enjoying. You keep making 'em, I'll keep watching 'em. Outstanding AF. See you next week :)
I’m ready for the Corporal’s cook book or channel!
Thx for including how to prepare water for drinking. Love to see more on this..

Holy cow dude! Thanks for addressing hydration. Noone ever does. Structure looks cool as heck as well.
When is that Corporal Cookbook coming out? You've got some great recipes and it would be awesome to have them all in one place.
Great video cpl Kelly !.......keep em' coming......we love you too !
This video is outstanding.
I will cherish the heart from corporals corner
Excellent work once again. I especially enjoy the "conserve your resources" teaching. Outstanding Marine!
Had to pause the video, to check my suunto compass to the sun. Playing with what I learn from your knowledge and daylight savings. Pretty darn accurate. Thank you brother. Keep it up. We are just Boy Scouts that never grew out of being Boy Scouts.
Talk about stealth camping! That's way more camo than any tarp could ever be.
Thanks for that outstanding show!

How the heck’s he going to get that thermos out of that fire with out a glove???? Ooooohhh....love the channel!
Once again, outstanding AF!
Like the water bottle toggle.
I have a ? How would you control the leaves in the wind or would you make a different type of shelter?...Thanks..Love your channel!!
Been watching a ton of your old stuff (again).
I've watched your progression over the years. You're top notch Shawn.
Much appreciated efforts.
Corporal, I live in Louisiana, and the water sources here are silty. The color of strong tea and nasty tasting. Would you demonstrate how you would filter it if you didn't have a commercial water filter? Also how would you get around the fishy taste?
Great video Corporal. Thanks for all your hard work. My highlight of the week is watching what you have in-store for the week.
15:32 - That fish was looking at you thinking "Why don't he feed me with a juicy cricket on a hook?" - Missing your son in this video!

Can u confirm that watching the ads puts money in your hands? I heard it was true so I watch all the ads of my favorite channels.
So I introduced my girlfriend to your videos and she’s a big fan. Watching this video you plugged your influencer pages and she looked at me and said “Christmas shopping is going to be so easy for you.....sorry easy AF” appreciate everything you do man, keep up the incredible work and we’ll keep watching and supporting how we can
Oh no Corporal, you suppose to cook those dogs in that bacon grease. That's the right way to do it Corporal Style.
Search his sight, many other configurations are demonstrated. I'm currently doing knot, lash, and hitch review. Why? Because I can! 😉
O man your next video, a fishing video. That would be so awesome, you catch that big old fish cooking with bacon!!!
I’d buy it.
Me too
Steve - I’m having to resist the urge to get a first draft together. If I wasn’t working on another project I probably would just do it and make a shared Google Doc or something.
Only thing that would’ve been better was to caramelize the onions in the bacon fat 🥓
Caramelized onions on a chili cheese dog? !?!?!
Sacrilege!
Was out in the woods last weekend. This weekend living vicariously through the Corporal! Next best thing to being there!
Those dogs looked so delicious. No regrets for sure.
I never get tired of of your videos, saving resources whenever possible is great! BACON makes everything better! One of my favs is; Kabobs with Bacon wrapped Steak😋
Love the video
LOL mama always said common sense ain't so common! Outstanding as usual!
always take the cap off the water before boiling....lol
You weren't really alone...you had that frog to keep you company. I am looking forward to your debris hut video. I love the way you cook. If you anticipate heartburn, take along a crisp apple and eat it at the first twinge. It does a great job of taming the fires in the stomach. Thanks again for a great video and for the strong motivation.
My cat loves to watch you cut wood and stack it I see him watching you and tilting his head alot
Lol cute
My cat was just watching American Sniper and started backing up scared under the table when the tank drove towards the screen.
I love cats that watch tv so funny.
Thanks Cpl. Kelly , good video and that hotdog looked amazing . Missed the little man on this one . Always fun to watch your videos and learn a few things .
See you on the next one !
Man, I'm always craving bacon after one of the vids.
I do thoroughly enjoy running into your videos sir.
Same. I am not too far south of him in Northern KY and we have hella snakes in our area making a tent the way to go at the moment.
It's always something I've wondered. Very jealous of the ability to just tarp it. I'm hoping there's a trick I just don't know yet.
Oooh yes, hot n humid here next to London too man, sweating like Michael Barrymore at a pool party.
Those bacon and chili dogs look lovely, save some for me, no cheese on mine mate. Love the debris shelters and huts, awesome camouflage. The videos that always catch my eye are the ones, that can be used in combat situations....where stealth, staying dry and warm, being not only comfortable, but actually being at home in natural surroundings, with no-one knowing where you are, even though they're almost on top of you and still not able to spot you
Good stuff brother....that bedroll cook set been sold out for months... Any info on a restock?
Wow, bacon, chili, cheese dogs mit onions out in the sticks yet! Way yummy cool!
Mannnn those chili dogs look 🔥 👀
Thanks for the video & your appreciation for your subscribers. We appreciate that. 👍 Take care and stay safe, to Corporal & all. 😊
Chili dogs are my favorite! Would it be "Chef Corporal" or "Corporal Chef" in this case?
Love this one. Utilize what's around and create the perfect shelter. Best ever.
As I watch you build the shelter I see some future youtuber filming your shelter and claiming it's a big foot nesting spot.
As always, awesome video and advice. Look forward every week to your videos
Corporal there are so many comments I would like to make about this video but I understand I must keep it short so again outstanding AF if you want some good coffee try Black Rifle coffee company they are owned and operated by former military members nothing like a cup of AK-47 to wake you up in the morning😆😆😆👍
you must have missed my last 10 videos
I'm not sure I understand your last comment I always want your videos I always enjoy your videos however if you think I was disrespectful in some way I will refrain from making comments from now on has always going from thank you for your service
That’s how I make my shelters, low. Also, I tend to make them ‘inside’ a shrub or tree. Using that vegetation as part of the shelter and camouflage of course.
Your boy is going to be pissed that he missed out on those chili dogs 😂
Been catching up on the older videos. Always love the cooking. keep after it cpl!
