I was about 45 seconds and one more Z axis crash away from throwing my BL Touch against a wall, with my printer attached. No matter what info or reddit thread I found, nothing helped, then this video fixed EVERYTHING. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

After watching this video I have to say that even though my printer is more heavily modded than yours, the fact that your mods look so professional made me want to start taking a lot of things apart and starting some mods from scratch. Your work looks really good and really detailed. Your 3d printer still looks clean after mods and that is not so common. Congratulations and thank you because you made me realize that a 3d printer doesn't have to look like a borg from star trek just because it has upgrades.

This is great, and you do a class act on the various mods, with attention to detail.
Being an absolute 3D printer beginner, I did a lot in terms of reviewing and researching the past week, as I am looking at buying this as my first 3D printer, over the Anet ET4 Pro, and definitely over the Creality Ender versions, I was also looking at. Now, I only need to buy some thingamabobs, doohickies (not the kiss and leave marks type), and lots of watchamcallits, also with lots of wiring, bolts, washers and nuts (maybe I am the nut), and a new metal shop with electrical hand tools. Then, I can mod this Biqu B1, before I level it and print my first, (what do you old timer 3D printer Types call it,) slice!
This is all because, you had me at adding the BL Touch auto bed leveling thingee, on the end of your previous video on the B B1.
Allow me to add my own conclusion; ................. Phew, I Am Now Exhausted just thinking about it, after I sat and watched the whole video!
Wait, don't I need to print some parts, with different filaments for these mods to work, before I even think on doing this mod stuff, before I even bought the darn thing? Checks your links, and Groanz!

Those are some good mods. I like the drag chains and the Love-joy style couplings for the Z axis screws. Do you have a link for those parts by chance? I also felt it was strange that the Z axis screws have no upper support bushing/bearing.

GREAT VIDEO !!! I installed the BLTOUCH on the stock BIQU B1 using the stock bracket provided with the printer. I can do the APL fine and then I can save it to the machine, but when I put the head at the HOME position it goes to the front left corner and not to the center. Marlin firmware is v2.06 AUG 24 2020 and screen firmware is NIGTREETECH_TFT35_B1_V3.0. Is there a need to update the firmware? If so, which one for BLTOUCH and stock bracket? Many thanks.

Thanks. Great guide. The only issue I am having is I have the all black version and the board is the SKR 2 rather than the SKR 1.4, so the provided firmware in the link does not work. I have the BL Touch installed and functioning with one exception. With the z axis stop disabled, my printer doesn't know to use the BL Touch to home the z axis. I am not familiar with the process of compiling the software myself to enable this. Does anyone know of anywhere I can find precompiled firmware for the BL Touch that works with the Biqu B1 SKR 2 board?

  • @asai_24

This was a really cool video, but these modifications seem WAY too advanced for a beginner, as well as needing quite a bit of machinery or tools for most of these. For a beginner, would you say that you can find these parts pre-cut or pre-made anywhere for the B1? Or would it be easier for a beginner to upgrade the ender 3 v2? Trying to weigh my options before really getting into 3D printing, but I don't want to limit myself because I don't have a band saw, drills, crimpers, etc... Thanks!

Hi, I tried to flash the firmware of my B1, because I installed a BL Touch and this was not supported from the installed firmware. Unfortunately the printer gives this message out: "System loading, please wait" and nothing happens. Do you habe any idea how I can fix it? I wrote a request to Biqu, but they never answered. I have a Bigtreetech SKR 2 as mainboard and a BTT B1 TFT35 v3.0. Thank you in advance.

I have tried numerous ways to get it to install., but it prints in the air. It auto home's to the left-hand bottom corner by manufacturer default, so I can get a true Z offset. I may have a newer version of the printer as it it is all black. Mother Board is the SKV V2, with Marlin bugfix-2.0-7.2.x installed from the factory. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @bluetubesubaru

Did you ever get this working? I just bought this printer and have the same issue; setting Z offset sets the extruder to the home position not the center. Running the firmware that came with the printer, which is newer that what is up on BIQU's website.
